I think people mistakenly diss New Edition for no reason other than to say they made music 20 years ago. That's a weak excuse. I'm 30, so I'm kinda in between the young kids on the come up and older cats that I listen to when I was a kid. Being an entertainer isn't just about vocal ability (but is very key.) You gotta have the look, the moves, etc. Granted New Edition wasn't on the level of Boyz II Men vocally (how many groups were) but they where above average group singers. What young dudes fail to realize is that they were the first R&B group to incorporate the new sound of hip-hop with singing when that was a no-no back then. Now today, that's a requirement. They came out in a time when samplers, synthesizers and drum machines where becoming the staple of modern R&B. They were very impactful in the development of today's hip hop. How many groups you know can break ways, go platinum on their own, come back do another album and go platinum again. Ya all entitled to ya opinion.
