Just for sake of argument, I often wonder how it would be if the roles were reversed? Polyandry as opposed to polygamy; how would men feel if they were one of many having to vie for the attentions of their wife?

There are several cultures around the world that have practiced polyandry. I believe in what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If polygamy is allowed then polyandry should be too. If you want a multiple marriage, before you marry, you decide between the two not both at the same time. Supposedly multiple marriages work if all are supported equally.
