Happy New Year, Txhustla! I think if Tiger had issued a public mea culpa in the initial days of the scandal leaks, it would have taken the wind out of the sails of much of the endless days of coverage. When you have women emerging from the woodwork who are more than willing to share intimate details of his indiscretions, then “reclusiveness” becomes a bit obsolete. In addition, his silence was perceived by many, I’m sure, as an indirect admission of guilt. Despite the terse statement Tiger released during the first week, the level of his alleged “dishonesty” and duplicity (both anathema to the pristine image that he had carefully crafted over the years – he even highlights his family life on his website, from what I read) heightened considerably with every interview.

Unlike some celebrities who have a reputation based on their bad behavior (e.g. Charlie Sheen), Tiger was seen, by many, to be far above such moral missteps. That perception is now irrevocably damaged. It’s not only what his alleged actions are — it’s how many women he allegedly pursued and cavorted with. I would say that silence may have worked with one, or perhaps even two, mistresses. When the number grows to more than 10 and climbing, it’s time to get in front of the snowballing media frenzy.

Did you see some of the interviews these women gave, Txhustla? I thought one of them, Cori Rist, attempted to be as tasteful as possible on the Today Show (she broke down in tears as she talked about her son), but the others leave much to be desired. The Perkins restaurant waitress even talked at length about Tiger’s s-e-x-u-a-l performance and the locations of their trysts. Not good.

Tiger Woods is famous because he is a good golfer. I have never watced him play and think “what a good husband” so I not invested in his monogamy. I would never go to AT&T because he says so. I will continue to support his golf career because he is the best and I want to see the best.
However he has managed his marriage and infidelities is none of my business and I suspect that most of the censure going his way is due to ENVY. Remember, a marriage is not a democracy. I ope this matter is quickly resolved and we go back to what is important ” Tiger’s incredible talent as a golfer”. Yep! Things are dire in Cali. Ol’ Arnold went to Washington last week beggin’ for more money, but was turned down, due to the other 50 states equally dire straits. Our company is due to make some cuts in the first quarter of 2010. Things’ll be pretty interestin’ in 2010, and accordin’ to most economist, between now and summer, if things doesn’t radically change, inflation is goin’ to rear its’ ugly head with a vengeance.

He first came off as a fiscal conservative, then a moderate conservative, and now your typical fiscally irresponsible bureucrat…And like his predecessors, he continued to kick the can (deficit spendin’) down the alley, instead of shrinkin’ the Government, thus shrinkin’ the annual budget, that is now in the billions.

It’s not like he killed somebody. He WILL bounce back. Trust. And in another five years, no one is going to care about his past indiscretions. Adultery is such a widely-committed infraction and so many of the bastards in the media who are feigning this stance of outrage are simply HYPOCRITES. Tiger has an amazing drive and ambition. This is just a bump in the road.
