Kanye goes off about “Bonnaroo-Gate” his latest blog post (warning – this rant is pretty long, but it’s funny as hell):
I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. This is the most offended I’ve ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be. I’m typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!!
Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of…. BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL! THIS SHOWS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AND BRING YOU DOWN! LIKE WAYNE SAYS PLEASE DON’T SHOOT ME DOWN CAUSE I’M FLYING! I’M FUCKING HURT BY THIS ONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT ARE THE FANS. JUST SAY THIS OUT LOUD IN A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE, “KANYE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT GIVING A GOOD PERFORMANCE.” CAN ANYONE HONESTLY SAY THAT ????????? HAS ANYONE EVEN TAKEN THE TIME TO AT LEAST DO THE MATH??? BONNAROO SHOULD HAVE RELEASED A STATEMENT IN MY DEFENSE BUT SINCE THEY HAVEN’T LET’S BREAK DOWN THE WALLS ON THIS TRUMAN SHOW AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY OCCURRED!!! FOR OVER A MONTH WE WENT BACK AND FORTH ON WETHER OR NOT WE COULD EVEN FIT MY STAGE AT THE FESTIVAL. ONE DAY THEY WOULD SAY YES… WE’D SEND THEM OUR SPECS THEN THEY THEY’D SAY OK… THEN THEY WOULD SEND SPECS BACK THAT DIDN’T FIT THE STAGE. WE WERE OBVIOUSLY DEALING WITH FUCKING IDIOTS WHO DIDN’T REALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO REALLY PUT ON THIS SHOW PROPERLY. THEY TRIED 2 GIVE ME A TIME SLOT WERE IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE … I HAVE A FUCKING LIGHT SHOW DUMB ASS, IT’S NOT CALLED GLOW IN THE DARK FOR NO REASON SQUID BRAINS! MY PEOPLE WORKED OUT A COMPROMISED STAGE PLOT AND A 3AM TIME SLOT AND I AGREED. FAST FOWARD TO THE DAY OF THE SHOW. MY PRODUCTION MANAGER TRIED TO LOAD IN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE I WENT ON STAGE BUT THE FESTIVAL WOULDN’T ALLOW US TO DO ANYTHING UNTILL PEARL JAM LEFT THE STAGE. PEARL JAM ENDED ONE HOUR
LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT THAT POINT WE’RE RACING AGAINST THE SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT 4:20AM DON COMES BACK 2 THE BUS AND TELLS ME, ” IT WOULD TAKE 45 MORE MINUTES TO PUT ALL YOUR PYRO IN!” I SAY I HAVE TO GET OUT THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE . I HIT THE STAGE AND PEOPLE HAD BEEN THROWING SHIT ON THE STAGE AND HAD ACTUALLY HIT THE JANE SCREEN WITH, I GUESS BOTTLES OR SOMETHING AND HAD BROKEN MY FUCKING SCREEN. REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE A SHORTY AND WATER WOULD HIT THE TV?????? WHEN I GOT 2 “THROUGH THE WIRE” I STEPPED ON THE FRONT PART OF MY STAGE AND THERE WAS SO MUCH LIQUID ON THE STAGE I COULDN’T MOVE WITHOUT SLIPPING. I HAD TO ADJUST MY WHOLE PERFORMANCE STYLE BECAUSE OF IT. A FEW MORE SONGS IN AND THE SONG WAS ON IT’S WAY UP.. I CUT A FEW SONGS FROM THE SET BECAUSE I WANTED PEOPLE 2 EXPERIENCE STRONGER WHILE THERE WAS STILL SOME DARKNESS TO PERFORM IT IN. I’VE STRUGGLED WITH STRONGER FROM IT’S CONCEPTION. REMEMBER LAST SUMMER WHEN I CANCELED SOME TV APPEARANCES. IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO PERFORM STRONGER IN THE DAYTIME. ANYONE WHO CAME TO THE GLOW TOUR CAN UNDERSTAND WHY I WANTED PEOPLE TO SEE IT PROPERLY. IT BROKE MY HEART THAT I COULDN’T GIVE THESE FANS STRONGER IN IT’S GREATEST FORM… BY THE TIME I GOT TO STRONGER IT WAS DAYTIME AND IT BROKE MY HEART. I’M SORRY TO EVERYONE THAT I DIDN’T HAVE THE ABILITY 2 GIVE THE PERFORMANCE I WANTED TO. I was at Bonnaroo this year and have been there for the past 4 years. I was excited to see Kanye there because the festival has smaller hip hop acts but never big ones like Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West.
With that said, he didn’t need to do his entire damn Glow in the Dark show. Some glowing would’ve been fine. He didn’t need pyro. Its a festival full of drugged up hippies, they just care about the music. If his music was strong enough, he wouldn’t need all of that.

Not only am I an accomplished violinist with 15 years of training but as a consumer I have spent over $8000 in concert tickets in the past 8 years (yes I save every ticket). I also refuse to download music for free because it doesn’t support the artist. So I have thousands of dollars invested in iTunes music and CDs throughout the years. I have bought all of Kanye’s CDs and I went to his Glow in the Dark tour…twice. He produces campy-borderline pop music with not a lot of substance or intent to move. Is this bad? Not at all…its feel good music. He’s not NAS, Lyrics Born or The Roots…he’s KANYE WEST. He’s not even in the same category. I’ve seen the Hip Hop acts at Bonnaroo do really well with a massive crowd without all the gimmicks. Kanye West needs gimmicks because he has no real substance otherwise.
So yes, my comment about his music not being strong enough has thought behind it and is indeed warranted. Now go listen to some Souljah Boy or something…

i went to the glow in the dark tour when it was in dallas & his show is full of lights . watching the show in the daytime is pointless & people would’ve been pissed either way . he did was in the best intrest of the fans . if he would’ve performed his show in the light people would’ve taken that performance to the head & wouldn’t of wanted to see another show of his because of the set ! NO ONE wants to see a bunch of lights in the daytime, for you one you can’t see them that well & you don’t get the full effect . either way bonaroo left him out to dry & made him seem like the bad guy .
kanye has VERY good stage presence i enjoyed the glow in the dark tour sooo much i had so much fun & i’m sorry people are going to not want to see another show of his because of his incident .

I normally can’t stand Kanye, and even though he was still dramatic with this blog–coming from his Mac Book Air(lol)–I agree that the gossip peeps blowed that Boonarue incident way out of proportion.
Him coming on the stage late was not his fault. But, everybody made it seem like he was being a diva and waited to the last minute to go onstage because he, supposedly, didn’t want to follow Pearl Jam—that was simply not true.
I mean, there are plenty of true obnoxious shit that can be said about Kanye, so to over exaggerate this incident was seriously not necessary.
None of this changes the fact that Kanye had ample opportunity to APOLOGIZE and didn’t. I don’t care what the reason, if you make someone you CARE ABOUT wait 2 hours for ANYTHING, you apologize.

And yes, several hip-hop acts at Bonnaroo have been embraced. The Roots, Common, Kweli are just a few that were loved at Bonnaroo without a crazy stage show.
Kanye’s Bonnaroo set would have been considered pretty good had he not waited 2 hours and then not apologized on the spot. Dude only performed for a little over an hour. Meanwhile, M.I.A. had no lights, 2 dancers and a DJ and the “white, hippie, redneck” crowd worshiped her.
I foolishly missed Lupe and Kweli to wait for Mr. Self-Important, but apparently they both put on amazing shows and the Bonnaroo crowd embraced them as well.

Any intelligent individual knows that you should review things BEFORE you comment on them. If it was too many words for your poor little brains to process than move on to another article.
