Kimora had her way in court recently:
Each of the hip-hop mogul’s two girls with estranged wife Kimora Lee is set to receive $20,000 a month in child support. That’s a total of $480,000 each year for kids who already live in a palatial $24 million estate in Saddle River, N.J. Their mom, a former model, is CEO of the Baby Phat fashion house. The agreement shows that until 2019, Russell Simmons will continue payments for Ming Lee, now 8, and, until 2022, for Aoki, now 5.
Kimora Lee, 33, filed for divorce in March after nine years of marriage. She’s asking for primary custody of the girls and that Russell, 50, be granted “reasonable child visitation … accompanied at all times by the children’s nanny and security personnel.”
Kimora is playing hardball with ole BDR. Let’s see if she wins the next round. Developing…

NY News is not reporting this divorce to be halfway as nasty as it is potrayed here. The girls, as sad as it may be, have ALWAYS had a nanny and are in some ways raised more by the nanny as their parents were busy with the fashion scene. Also, because of the high profile of their parents, the girls have always had a security detail. The divorce proceedings are just making it FORMAL and stating that these services must remain in tact….given that they are provided in the home, they must be provided when the girls are outside of the home….even when they are with their father. It is standard to put provisions like this in a divorce proceeding…that way the kids are always taken care of first.

Don’t forget that they are HIS children also. I mean, granted I (we) don’t know the intimate details about Russ’s parenting skills, but if restricted visitation is warranted this would mean legally (in NJ anyway) he or his surroundings present some sort of danger to his children. If thats the case, then so be it. If not, he deserves to spend the time with his children u*****structed. The love of a parent (mother or father) is worth more than the money anyway. As far as the benjamins go, legally speaking (in NJ, laws differ from state to state) the court only considers the income of the person paying the child support so Kimora’s cake is irrelevant.
And i agree…the visitation is a lil shady…ok really shady. He should get to see them girls anytime he wants regardless of how Kim feels. But we dont know all the details either

Kimora is NOT trying to secure her children’s future. Those girls would be well taken care of for LIFE, even if Russell died yesterday and Kimora found out he had nothing left.
This is obviously a case of a bitter woman trying to get back at her ex for some undisclosed reason. Since Russell was already in another relationship before Kimora was, I strongly believe it’s because of his new girlfriend.
It’s a shame, because I really used to like Kimora since she seemed like a woman who wanted to work for her own instead of sitting on her behind just living off of someone else, but to put visitation restrictions on this man like this is just a petty slap in the face.

Are you kidding me?! Punishment?! The courts uses a FORMULA and other factors to determine the exact amount a child receives in child support. It is not about punishment and that is the problem with a lot of men when it comes to paying child support. They think the “man” and the ex is out to get them. Please!

I feel you….but the court is going to make you pay regardless. In Russel’s case, 20K ain’t hurting so eff it, just pay it. My issue is with a man spending time with his seed. That IS relevant. Yeah, she should be thankful for her dollar riches (regardless how she got them) but don’t deprive her children of the TRUE riches of being around their father without boundaries. This hurts the children in the long run.

I am raising & supporting two boys (twins), and have been doing so for the past three years ALONE!! Me and my sons lving in an apartment I rent. I receive no child-support from my BM NADA, NONE. I am not on section 8, do not receive food stamps, WIC nothing….And did I mention I receive no child-support from my BM?? MAtter of fact my BM does’nt even take the time to try and see them. It’s cool tho, we are doing fine I work two jobs to make sure we stay doing fine. SO PLEASE do not ever *****ume there are no brothers like me doing it like this, cause obviously you would be mistaken. I cannot understand why more men just don’t raise there kids. We can do it just as well as the women. Both my sons always make high honors in school and are respectful to all. As a matter of fact I know this young lady who is paying child support to her kids father because he took custody of them while she was busy in and out of clubs, now she wants to slow down and all of a sudden she wants to fight for custody of her boys and the judge is actually granting full custody to their dad!

No, I was not insinuating that men are not capable of being responsible parents. I know plenty of great fathers, as well as trifling women.
What I am saying, however, is that these men that are complaining about paying child support and the amount of the child support, obviously have no idea what it means, or what it takes to raise a child. These are the men I’m speaking of.
It *****es me off that some men think that because a woman has her own money and has made her own way, that the fathers of these kids should be let “off the hook” or “go easy on him”. That’s bull. Raising a child isn’t just about money.
And let me say this, it cuts both ways. If a man is the sole provider of a child, then the mother should be held to the same standards as a man. I have absolutely no problem with that. But I’m speaking from a woman’s perspective, and too often all of the responsibilty to raise a child falls on the woman’s shoulders.

I think that its sad how our government treat men when it comes to child support.Don get me wrong there are a lot of men out there that don’t take care of their responsibility and then there are some that do.In this case Russell has always been a part of his girls life and has always taken care of them.I feel that like most women who strive for success, kimora had dreams of her own and with the help of Russell she was able to accomplish that (much respect on her behalf)but I feel that $20,000 a month per child is a lot of money.What really up sets me is that women who work a normal 9-5 and support their children on their own cant seem to get 1 dime for child support. The government cant seem to find these dead beat dads and file them to take care of there children but they can take someone like Russell Simmons and make a example out of him. And when they do catch up with these dead beat deads they are only paying $100 dollars a month if that.I just feel because you make a certain amount of money doesn’t mean you should make them pay a big amount such as $20,000 or more a month. Yes I do feel that he should pay child support, but if the mother is also making a nice income as Kimora I feel that the amount that was granted to her is ridiculous.thats just my opinion on this whole situation

I beg to differ. I don’t know what your situation is, but let me tell you something. I would GLADLY give up child support payments for the summer in exchange for my son to spend time with his father in order for me to be able to “do me” for a change.
And in a lot of instances, its not even about giving up the money. Its about the DRAMA that sometimes come with handing over your child to the father. There is a such thing as “baby daddy drama” too.

BTW, the same formula works in reverse. I can nurture, provide and protect my daughter but I cannot teach her to be a woman. That is the role of her mother. In my case, having a daughter, no female will EVER meet her unless she has the potential to be around for awhile. I am getting divorced tomorrow. I have one daughter with my soon to be ex. I have 2 jobs to support the both of us. I guess what I am trying to say that I won’t give up on the Black man. I don’t expect them to give up on me either.
Black families need to unite and stay strong, because the opposition is coming strong from ALL sides. Let’s not tear each other down with racial slurs and name calling. “6amhoegetout” did a good job of explaining where those hateful terms come from, so let’s not use them as verbal daggers against each other. We are worth so more than casting aspersions on each other’s respective characters. Instead, Black women and Black men should build each other up and stand together to overcome obstacles within the home and the community. YES WE CAN!!!!

Just to put out there – the “your surroundings ” statement means comically NOTHING to me!! There is no certain location for bad black males to hang out in.. They are all over the country!! They are all over the place.. You talk to any sista in any state in this country and she will have something negative to say about the black male – and let’s not even get started with STATS and simple KNOWLEDGE of the black male and his shortcomings..

I’m going through it myself with some Ex-Factor issues, lol, but I blame myself because I’ve made some poor choices and once I fall, I fall hard and it takes a while for the heartbreak wounds to heal (and whenever I think I’ve moved on, one of them seems to get back in contact with me, darn it.) But I love my brothers. My best friend is getting married this year to a wonderful black man, and she stood fast to her standards and he fulfills every one of them. I’m so happy for her and there are others like him.

Yeah..but honestly to me it wasnt even about that. She had everything I wanted in a gf..Sucessful, Intelligent, Witty, Cl*****y, Confident, and will downright shread anyone who deserves it. Now I’ve dated more white, latin, and european girls than black but she was the first that i really connected with on some many levels. But I can’t tell you that one of those levels had to do with race. In fact I think thats the last thing we focused on.

Gave me advice on what to do in school.

Her brother is now my personal trainer and nutritionist.

What about me? OK, I have a dilemma. My mother told me that my old boyfriend from college — whom I haven’t spoken to in years — called my parents’ house on my birthday last week because he wants to get in touch with me. He told my mom that I was his first love and he thinks of me every year when my birthday rolls around. So I’m debating whether I should call him — I’ve thought about him on many occasions and wondered how he’s doing, if he’s married, etc. — I just didn’t think I was also crossing his mind.
Well, I guess I consider it a strange coincidence because another brotha I used to date also contacted me within the past month and told me he loved me, blah, blah, blah, so I’m feeling like this is a re-emergence of the exes, both of whom I had very strong feelings for. It’s just interesting, that’s all.

A large number of women would not want men to keep their kids for a year because they won’t get that child support ($$$$$). I had to fight for 2 years to get mine for the summer and I’m trying to get her even more but the EBB doesn’t want that because she doesn’t to cut back that money. Anybody that thinks there aren’t other reason beside the good of the child is a liar.

I beg to differ. I don’t know what your situation is, but let me tell you something. I would GLADLY give up child support payments for the summer in exchange for my son to spend time with his father in order for me to be able to “do me” for a change.
And in a lot of instances, its not even about giving up the money. Its about the DRAMA that sometimes come with handing over your child to the father. There is a such thing as “baby daddy drama” too.
So again, this stuff is not just about child support/money.
