australian is not a ethnicity. it’s like saying you’re american, that could be anything, black, white, native.

Well I am bi-racial (actually tri-racial but I really don’t count the 1/4 native in my blood)and I have never understood why certain mixed people do not claim both or all sides. I do consider myself black but I can’t deny my white side either. I consider myself “black” not only because I will never look “white” but because I identify myself with black people and culture. It really is up to the parents to talk to their mixed race children and let them know it is ok to accept both sides and not be afraid to call yourself black or whatever you choose. In my opinion Tiger was never black because he never identifies as black, clearly he is jealous of his black “brothers” thus his penchant for off colour (no pun intended) jokes.

P.S. Please don’t post that I spelled “colour” wrong, that is how you spell it in Canada!

Tiger did not want his racial idenity to be an issue with the golfing world. He didn’t want to be known as the first African American to win major golf championships.

He wanted to be an “every man,” someone everyone could identify with. His image was perfectly vetted and controlled at all times. He didn’t do commericals for “ethnic products or services.”

He was the “perfect” minority like i.e. Asians. You know the stereotype, they’re all smart and they all work 20 hours a day. They come to thise country with nothing and work themselves up to upper middle class status.

I think the reason that Tiger’s receiving so much backlash is that many people feel duped because he proudly paraded such a clean-cut image to make millions of dollars, but Tiger wasn’t that person at all.
