PETA thought they were slick using our First lady’s image in their little “Anti-Fur” ad, but the White House ain’t having it:
The White House is fuming over a new anti-fur campaign featuring first lady Michelle Obama.She appears alongside Oprah Winfrey, Carrie Underwood and Tyra Banks — who have all refused to wear real fur — in “Fur-Free and Fabulous,” PETA’s new ad, which was unveiled last week and can be seen at Washington, D.C.-area Metro stations and on the group’s website.
But the White House maintains that PETA had no right to use the image of the first lady in its new ads. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk insists her organization wouldn’t have sought Obama’s consent for the ad because it knows that she can’t make such an endorsement.
“The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” she said in a press statement.
PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews added that Obama should be flattered. Introducing the campaign, he said: “By rejecting fur, these style icons demonstrate to the world that fur is old-fashioned and cruel.”
They should’ve known that they were gonna get in trouble for this one…

Animals do not have a voice to speak out on injustices and mistreatment they endure at the hands of humans. PETA may occasionally be radical, and I certainly don’t agree with all their methods, but they get major props as does the ASPCA and Humane Society for standing up for Animals who can’t do so for themselves.

PETA needs to stop shoving their philosophy down peoples throat as though its the gospel or the law. If people choose to wear fur its their business. WHo made them the official protector of furs? They should not have used the First Lady’s image in this way or without Whitehouse approval. She is the First Lady of the US (American Royalty) not a random celebrity. Did anyone notice that the pic of Oprah shows her wearing one of my favorite outfits – it’s a beautiful buttery soft ankle length leather skirt! I am against animal cruelty – put these folks take it too far. Why not work to shut down puppy mills, adopt homeless pets, and most of all- encourage spay/neutering (or donate to clinics who provide this service)?

I think that PETA (People for Extortion, Terrorism, and Anarchy) is aiming this ad at the African American community, considering those images peing prevalent. They claim that they want to make Washington, D.C. “fur free”. I certainly don’t agree with this because I love wearing furs. PETA is a cult as well as an industry which uses animal issues to get big donations from the clueless. What they don’t understand is that they need to respect the rights of those people (myself included) who do not agree with their agenda, but they feel the “nobility” of their “mission” and their “evolved” moral status entitles them to force acquiescence from everyone. People should do research and examine the ENTIRE agenda of the animal “rights” cult/industry , including reading the crazy, often violently misanthropic statements of their leaders, then do the extrapolations. They aren’t considered a terrorist group by the FDA and the FBI for nothing.
