Jay-Z Rides Against Damon Dash in New Song: Compares Split to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez
Posted by Bossip Staff
Jay-Z comes out swinging against former friend and partner Damon Dash and for the first time talks about their split on wax. SMH at Jay-Z comparing his split with Damon Dash to Bennifer 1. To listen to “Lost Ones” click here. The leaked song is from his unreleased album Kingdom Come and spits:
I heard mother&%uck#@ say they made HOV
made HOV want to say
ok so, make another HOV
Niggas wasn’t paying their payroll, we parted ways like Ben and J Lo
Should of been did it, but I was in a daze though
The second verse is about a rough patch with Beyonce and seems like a marketing gimmick. The song is “Ok” but the game is so wack right now, an OK Jay-Z song is better than 98% of the other shit out there.
Here is Damon Dash talking about the “split”. Seems like ego and money got in the way of Dame and Jay. Or is there anothe reason? There is no Jay-Z without Dame’s Harlem hustle game and believing in Jay-Z but Jay-Z’s talent and genius gave a lot more ($$$$$) to Dame’s pockets than Dame’s positives gave to Jay-Z’s at the end of the day. Jay-Z has proven to have strong business acumen in his own right.
An example of niggas getting along when their hungry and broke and but getting “funny” when they got millions in the bank. SMH. Whose side do you take on the “split”? For more on what caused the beef between these two, click here. Jay-Z makes comments in the unreleased/next issue of XXL magazine:
“People rewrite history,” the rapper and record exec says to Elliott Wilson, editor in chief of XXL. “If they realized that, two years before, [Def Jam] offered me f-ing $20 million to cut them out, and I didn’t do it. … You’re friends. You ain’t supposed to do that. I said no. You know, I couldn’t live.”
On LL Cool J making comments Jay-Z and DefJam didn’t support his project 100%, Jay-Z says:
“I think … that we went above and beyond with his project. We shot two videos before the project even came out. That’s not, especially in this climate of business, that’s not typical. You know, people get one video, if that. We shot two videos with Hype Williams. Got Jennifer Lopez in the video. The commitment to the project was clearly, clearly there. … How much can you give a man?”
