PSA from a Bossip Reader to Steve Harvey: STFU, You are Ruining My Chances of Getting Married!!!

Posted on January 14th, 2010 - By Bossip Staff

Categories: Bossip Exclusives, For Discussion, News, Steve Harvey, We Broke It Here First!

After watching the ABC News Special on Why So Many Successful Black Women are Single???, one of our Bossip readers, Christopher Johnson, wrote us an email expressing his thoughts on what Steve Harvey said on behalf of black men.

Steve Harvey: Men my age have made a mistake, in that we didn’t teach the generation behind us the principles of man hood. There are so many African American men missing, absent, in the family… You [women] have a biological clock, we [men] don’t.

Christopher Johnson’s Response:

Christopher Johnson seems to be a pretty cool guy building a foundation. How many of you agree with Chris??? Was Steve Harvey wrong for what he said??? Do you feel that is giving black men a pass to not have their sh*zz together???

  • Kigali- I will check you

Steve Harvery said he grew up in the projects. In all likelihood there were probably no fathers around. Cant live in project housing if you have a man.

Steve has a demographic that he has to cater to. Anytime he tells the truth, he loses his largely single and female audience.

I wonder how many black females Steve Harvey’s that he thinks is marriage material. Not many I am sure.

  • Royal Chocolate

Please!! Steve is divorced and remarried…what could he possibly tell anyone about relationships?

  • David

I really can’t comment on what Steve said on ABC but I can comment on his radio show. I can not even stand to listen to his show more than 5 minutes because he destroys the english language. His grammar is absolutely horrible. Before he tries to tell the young people to do the right thing he should do the right thing by improving his grammar. If he wants to be a role model for the youth I think that it’s important for him to work on his broken english.

  • Mrs. Rance

    Kigali- I will check you

Steve Harvery said he grew up in the projects.
    *******************************

When did he say that? In any event he said just the other day that he was fortunate to have had a father that was there to raise him and teach him how to be a man.

  • cruzan trini

Okay, so he missed me half way through this, I got so tired of listening to him. Why….

He needs to sit down and shut up. Is he marrying or engaged to anyone? He is just like the rest of the men out there. So what he is a good catch, but just like most brothers he hasn’t put a ring on it. Brothers act like getting married is the end to everything.

  • Kigali- I will check you

    @ebonielady,

The only problem with what you are saying is that you assume that there are women out there who know how to treat a man. You dont know that these men dont know how to treat a lady. These men, considering the kinds of chicks we have walking around, have probably never met a lady worthy of his respect.

There are some very piggish chicks out there and dont assume that if you arent being treated right, the problem is with the man. Men dont have a problem with respecting women. Aint too many women out there though. Just the booty shakers and the baby mamas.

  • YorkieLover

    Yeah STFU Steve!!! GO CHRIS!!!!!!

Black people should raise the standards for black boys and men…

  • Kigali- I will check you

    @Mrs Rance,

He said that during the King of Comedy. Was he lying? Aint too many fathers/husbands in project housing. That should explain the crime and destitution.

Well great. His father raised him and taught him how to be a man but every father lets his sons know that there are some chicks out there who dont deserve a pat on the head. They happen to dominate in our community.

  • B.W.W.

marriage is not for everyone. people need to be real with themselves about that. on the other hand, people who are marriage material need to stop f*cking around with people who they have to lower their standards to be with.

  • RJ

Steve Harvey is correct, it seems as if our parents and their parents generation completely abandon their responsibilities as men and now we have a new generation of men who don’t know how to be men and treat a women, etc. But I do agree that there should be men in place to teach black men how to be men and not selfish, fearful little boys.

  • J

All I can say is there are a lot of black males who are starting to act like females and whine SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much and are wanting a woman to take care of them like their mamas…work, come home and cook his food, pick up his damn clothes, wash his clothes, put them mugs up, and some want you to pick them out in the morning. All that is fine…but that foo betta be doin a hell of a job payin bills n doin what I NEED him to do when I NEED him to do it dammit. Why we always gotta be expected to do backflips and jump up and land by doin the splits?

  • c-lo goodie

I’m on team Steve Harvey and he is supposed to be starting a mentoring program . I agree that standards need to be raised for our men, but only the men can do that sooo… Brothers…. STEP THAT SH*T UP AND STOP BEING WHINEY P*SSIES BLAMING THE WOMEN ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!

  • resurrected

Welling what a man think is a man is why different then what a woman may want in a man..
This message might not apply to this man but it does apply to many men… Your manhood is not just the ability to you as a man happy along but it serve a bigger mission anyone own selfish needs…

Well maybe he should not also judge the black woman because she does have a choose in who she selects just as a man does…

  • resurrected

    brnhornet

Correct but the norm is bigger in perspective then the few but the few still matter but it like finding a needle in a haystack… So many woman are messed up by the norm before they can even get to the few and it takes it toll…

  • nikki

baby where the hell are you at?

  • Kigali- I will check you

    @J

Likewise there are a lot of black females who said that manhood is worthless, fatherhood is worthless and having a husband is worthless and these government checks will compensate for all that. These are the results.

Black females didnt want to play they role, they wanted to get all out of pocket and the fruits of their labor have turned sour. Now hopefully with this generation, though I doubt it, they will know how to be interdependent with men, husbands, to raise children and not be on that whole strong independent type stuff that hasnt done anything except aggrandize her.

  • Rrrrroe Ski Love- A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

TD Jakes built a whole ministry on catering to woman, because he saw an opportunity to grow his congregation in that way. Steve Harvey is piggybacking on that same philosophy of catering to woman and saying the things that they want to hear. Out of curiosity I read his book Act like a lady and think like a man. It was filled with unrealistic situations and innuendoes and steriotyped men in general. When will people realize that the real do gooders of society don’t toot their own horns and quietly go about helping others. Those tooting horns are in it for other reasons (money) Steve, Jesse, Al, TD, Creflo, Tyra, Oprah the list goes on and on.

  • brnhornet

    @ Resurrected

True but it’s unfair to both sides. I’ve got women friends who may have met that guy for them but he doesn’t even get a chance because the women is still caught up in the drama from the past. And as for the guy, he figures that treating women the right way is getting him nowhere so he might as well become a dog because women seem to like that despite what their mouths say.
It’s a never ending cycle and both sides are to blame. Hopefully the trend will change for the better

——————— Co sign, I know many men like that. they talk all day about what they want in a woman, they want the world and more but they don’t have anything to offer. No job, 6 baby moms, yet they want mother earth who can hold a baby with one hand and cook a 3 course meal with the other

Why are black men offended??? Is is because the truth hurts. MEN PERIOD, especially black men need to get it together. I get so sick of running into black men who don’t have a job, education, career, car, or even their own place to stay. They are so focused on blaming everyone for their down-falls. How do I know, because I hear it everyday, and it’s sickening. Why is it that women HAVE NO PROBLEM with getting an education, and a career??? Are we any different or more capable then men??? I say no. Men need to step up and become the men that God created them to be, and stop making excuses. I know it can be hard sometimes, but I came out of the ghetto, and I was determined to make it. Men can do the same. Some of them are just PLAIN LAZY, AND THEY MAY EVEN LACK THE DESIRE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. IT’S REALLY SAD…..

  • Keepnit100

Steve Harvey is a h y p o crite! Sure, he wants to teach our black men how to be a man, hang on to the family foundation, blah, blah, blah. I was with all of that until I found out he CHEATED on his wife!!!!

Yes, he admits it and I a p p l a u d him for that. However–I say, LEAD BY EXAMPLE! Don’t hand out that “holier than thou” attitude once you’ve sampled the other friuts! I can’t stand that “do as I say do” mentality. With that, he might as well be one of them bootleg preachers!

    Shame on him!

And to think I used to really like him!

    Not LMAO!!!!!

  • KingDeon-com

    Hello to all,

The bottom line is parents need to start raising their children!

Good parents produce accountable kids. These accountable kids become great black men and women.

  • MrTavMarie

Not all men are garbage. I know I ain’t. I was blessed to have both of my parents for the full 22 almost 23 years of my life, and I saw the reality of what a real marriage is. It’s WORK. MOTHERF*CKING WORK! That’s the problem. People don’t want to put in the work for ANYTHING anymore. It’s like if they have one disagreement and sh*t hits the fan then it’s splitsville.

N*ggalicious Stevie has a point, although I can’t take a man seriously who himself has had failed marriages (one thing I can learn from him is what NOT to do to f*ck up my marriage).

AND FURTHER MEN, IF MEN WOULD STOP ACTING LIKE THEY ARE GOD’S GIFT TO WOMEN, AND WOULD GET ON THEIR KNEES AND PRAY AND REALIZE WHO THEIR TRUE CREATOR IS, THEN MAYBE THINGS WOULD GET BETTER FOR THEM. BUT NO, THEIR NOT GOING TO DO THAT, BECAUSE SOME OF THEM FEEL AS IF THEY ARE BETTER THAN GOD. THEY THINK OF THEMSELVES AS GOD, AND THAT’S WHY SOME MANY OF THEM ARE CURSED, AND CAN’T SEEM TO MAKE IT OUT OF THEIR SITUATION. GOD IS ONLY GOING TO BLESS THOSE THAT HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND SERVE HIM. AND THAT’S REAL TALK!!! WHETHER ANYONE LIKES IT OR NOT, THAT’S JUST THE WAY IT IS…..AND ALSO THEY NEED TO LEARN TO GIVE, INSTEAD OF CONSTANTLY RECEIVING FROM WOMEN WHO ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!

Wasn’t Steve Harvey the one who screwed his first wife out of a bunch of money, or am I thinking of someone else?

I have respect for Steve Harvey but i believe he wrong in this situation… Steve Harvey is only saying this stuff about men out here cause he dont want to lose his female audience… I believe those females that was talking to Steve need to lower their standards…Females ask for too much and then get mad when they cant find a good man… Why is the men getting more the blame than females???… I believe females should really take a good look at themselves and try to figure out why they cant find a good man…

Just because you as a black male was rejected by a woman who you may have deemed as a “thug-lover” doesn’t mean every black woman is like that.

Just because the black male you may have dated treated you like crap doesn’t mean every black male will do the same.

Barack Obama has EARNED the right to criticize sorry black men — Steve Harvey hasn’t, because of the SHABBY way he treated his second wife — the mother of his children.

Before people start patting that HYPOCRITE on the back, read about his second wife’s lawsuit against that SCAMMING hypocrite.

  • UrHeinessDaQueen

how is what Steve Harvey said a way of giving black men a chance of not having their stuff together? lol..he was not wrong but simply stating facts, that’s all..& yes, women in general after reaching a certain age,if still single feel as if their biological clocks are ticking..Bottom line there’s someone for everyone, many times ppl are looking for love in all the wrong places & pass up good candidates due to having such basically impossible expectations

  • MistaO

The main issue with a whole lot of these crying, I can’t find a man females has more to do with then vs. the supposed men that are absent.

A whole lot of them spend their best years, say 20-30, running around hollerin how they all independent and want to screw any and everybody, having hard heads, won’t listen then they hit their 30′s and some well into their 50′s and stay trying to blame not having a man on all these supposed loathsome BM.

But check it, you rarely find a Sister who has her head really on straight and is fine who has all these issues getting and keeping a man!

These ones that don’t and they are good looking, trust, “HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM”! Many of these broads so ran through and contaminated by years of bad semen, they souls even stained. Most could never make a man a decent wife. Problem for most of them is that most men have this part of the game firmly figured out and aint even coming close to marrying a female of absent character…

Too many of them thought they could do and live as a man does, buying into all that BS and now they all paying the price. A women chooses who she sleeps with but a man choose who he will marry….

NOONE should ever have to lower their standards to get a good mate – male nor female. Thats the problem in our communities now – too many sistas willing to lower their standards as opposed to holding out for a good man who can hold his own. Thats why we all get accused of chasing thugs and undesirables. The black man doesn’t ask any otherrace of woman to lower their standards to be with him. If anything he will wait until he has something to offer a woman to start chasing other races and thats in large part to him feeling like because a sista has lowered her standards for so long she doesn’t deserve anything but the bottom of the barrel while other races of women deserve so much more. The black man really needs to stop telling sistas to lower their standards to be with them and start practice what he preaches to us being STEP UP YOUR GAME!

So tell me when black men get housing, bus passes, scholarships for baby mamas, child care, free health insurance etc. WOmen have been pampered beyond belief and by the looks of if, black females havent done much with it. This FRAUD has been playing the “holier than thou” card for some time now. Either his second wife is a bald-faced liar, or HE is.

  • Why

And the same principle goes for BLACK women who didnt have the CORRECT MOTHER figure in their life to teach them how to love a man, how to be supportive, how to handle household business, how not to sleep with every Tom or Bob, etc..

It goes both ways people and if you would start being a parent to child while they are young and quit being a friend or just letting TV and Wii raise them, you could probably find no matter what type of home they come from, single or both parents, they will find what they need in a mate!

how can a daughter now to love one when her MAMA has slept with the entire neighborhood?

How can a man know to love one when the world tells him he is a man and that you should sew your oats?!

everything you have said here applies to the black man just as muhc if not more. I suppose this is hwy his marriages tend ot end quicker than anyone elses. He’s so caught up in himself that he doesn’t even know how to treat a woman. Again, I add, that crosses racial lines. All other races ofwomen will tell you the same thing about the black man and thats why – unless he has big money to offer them – he tends to be a “screw” until one of her own men come along! You say most sistas won’t make a decent wife then why is the black man the most often divorced man within the statistic? its the womans fault, right?

You n i g g a s need to accept that the says of the black man not being held accountable because of all he has been though are DEAD! Society is starting to hold you just as accountable as they hold all other groups of men for their actions. Get used to it! Now that Obama is in office noone has anymore pity for you! They see a black man make it to the ultimate job and they see that with courage, education and determmination he can do it and they are tired of your darn whining black men me me me bull! “NOONE should ever have to lower their standards to get a good mate – male nor female. The black man really needs to stop telling sistas to lower their standards to be with them and start practice what he preaches to us being STEP UP YOUR GAME!”

Females do need to lower their standards if they want to have a good man… All females want is a man who has money and can do everything for them… Its always about both but females think its more about them….

  • DaHonestTruth ~ Always Keepin it REAL

“there is nothin worst then a black bit$%..thats wants to run down her resume of what she got and list of what she needs her man to have… She will be phukin that vibrator till shes old and gray.”

which, in my opinion, trumps ending up with some worthless n i g g a who doesn’t deserve her nor her hard work anyway! Not all women put having live in p e n i s above what she needs in her relationship! Of course the black man would never see this – but it is the case. There are plenty of women out there who will be alone before they sucuumb to a worthless man!

  • DaHonestTruth ~ Always Keepin it REAL

“Females do need to lower their standards if they want to have a good man… All females want is a man who has money and can do everything for them…”

I strongly disagree! No woman should ever have to settle for less or cheat herself out of a good man and a healthy relationship!

  • aleximaq

Ahhhh….I am so tired of this crap…why can’t women just deal with being alone??? Why does society make it seem like a death sentence not having a man? I am 36…I have an almost 12 year old son and I am GOOD. I feel almost complete…really and I just find it disturbing that so many women put so much energy into finding/having a man…I guess I just learned to live with it…I dunno…I just think this is some nonesense…

  • MistaO

Just to bottom line it: most of these broads like the one’s on Nightline who supposedly are so successful and whatever never got the lesson that while yes, you can “do you” and all that other non-sense but at the end of the day a decent man is not, repeat, not going to want to enter into a significant relationship with a women who has “been around”.

See these broads feel like they should be able to live all skantless and then a man should still want to wife them. Sorry, but we simply aren’t wired that way. These are the same chicks that will go on and on about the double standard between what a man does vs. a female.

This is a very appropriate double standard to live by for no other reason than the fact that like it or not you can simply tell a female who’s been ran through. Not only in her eyes but the very essence of her soul. They get these ole hard hearts, no feminin softness about them. Then expect that some man should still want them.

If more of them would have listened to men, instead of they hard headed mommas and aunties who aint have no man either, they wouldn’t be in these types of states of dispair…

This stuff aint complicated at all.

  • DaHonestTruth ~ Always Keepin it REAL

“People need to start evaluating why MAJORITY of the young BLACK females wants to be REALITY STARS and FAMOUS at all costs…. If they had the self respect and dignity of ol’ school females they wouldn’t have a problem getting a man……………….!”

LOL – so black men aren’t in reality shows? You sound as ignorant as the day is long! If the black man would STEP UP HIS GAME then women wouldn’t run around saying noneof them are any good – again ACROSS RACIAL LINES! I feel a need to keep pointing that out because recent events have shown that all races of women have trouble finding a good black man! Let’s stop acting like its just a black woman thing! Even Elin had to go upside her black mans head! White women are jus tassick of no good black men as we are and thats why it seems they’re turning on your more and more once they’re done with you!

Some things should be EASY to verify:

    (1) did the SAME lawyer represent both Steve and the 2nd wife in the divorce?

If so, SHE is not very bright, AND Steve is a shady bas-turd. He KNOWs and the lawyer knew that was a conflict of interest.

    (2) did he CONTEST the allegations of abuse and adultery, when she filed the suit?

I know damn well that BOTH women and men will LIE, especially when there are millions at stake — but if a woman alleges abuse of herself and the kids, you have to submit some kind of PROOF. Your WORD isn’t just good enough — was there any PROOF?

    (3) having a man who has had THREE wives and been divorce TWICE, talk about “family values” is like having Tiger Woods talk about “respecting your wife” — it is ABSURD on the very face of the situation.

I don’t want any damn body else holding this FRAUD up to lecture me on a DAMN THING.

Just because you as a black male was rejected by a woman who you may have deemed as a “thug-lover” doesn’t mean every black woman is like that.

Just because the black male you may have dated treated you like crap doesn’t mean every black male will do the same.

People use their bad experiences to JUDGE everyone else when the fact is you’re still BITTER from the last hang up.”

Say that again! I agree and could not have said it better. Nice to see hear common sense through all the noise.

I have never put any stock in anything that comes out of Steve Harvey’s big ugly lips! He is nothing more than a walking hypocrite to me. I have ZERO respect for this man and I cannot STAND his morning show! UGH!!!!

I do like Chris’ point: “Where was the male role model in your life that still allowed you to be the dog that you were?”

Steve grew up with a father in his home – he was a preachers son for goodness sakes! But we know that most preachers kids turn out to be the WORST offenders! But what was Steve’s excuse seeing how he came from a two parent household? Was his pops a typical preacher who was also a womanizer or was he faithful and loyal to his wife?

Either way Steve constantly makes EXCUSES for men and their cheating because he still makes excuses for why HE cheated on his last two wives! “I was on the road….women came at me from everywhere…..” Whatever. You were a dog, still is a dog and if you truly loved either of your wives the bottom line is YOU WOULDN’T HAVE CHEATED ON THEM!!!!!!!

Steve Harvey is a joke to me.

But I like what Chris had to say.

I will say this though, Parents have got to be parents. We cannot expect TV to be a baby sitter and raise kids. So yeah Steve had Dolomite and The Mac, but not all men from that generations are pimps and hoodlums.

Unfortunately I think economics play a large part in how people grow up. Economic and community. A lot of boys have no role model and are easily infulenced or peer pressured into the negative life because they have no foundation. It may happen more now but I definitely think it happened in Steve’s era too.

I think Steve talks, Tavis talks a lot of men talk. Like you said Chris take the positive and use it to help guide and mold you. That is a key for life, take what you need and throw away the rest.

Chris you seem like a good man. I really hope you find your queen.

This is the most ignorant comment to date. at least for me, since i just logged on.

Are you kidding me? We work out and take care of ourselves. At the same time I know and have seen more than a slew or overweight women from other cultures and stuff. I love them but I know obese Italian women. All that pasta and stuff add up. Also you don’t know why a woman is overweight. Sometimes it is not just gluttony. Sometimes it is due to thyroid disease, medications you are on (including anti-psychotics), etc. There could be a lot of reason.

I am willing to bet with your ignorant thinking and commentary, you will be alone when you are old, overweight, bald and need someone. You will be the bitter old person in the neighborhood, whose house kids throw cans at, because they like messing with you.

    You, need to grow up.

Too many black women trying to bring up warriors and it aint working. You can tell by the gentleman who said black men have to LOWER their standards to be with us – black women. WOW That’s a deep statement. A little hurtful, too. Who gave birth to you – a low life black woman? Is that why you hate yourself?

  • MistaO

Real quick, here is some advice from me to the women on here who may be receptive to it (not that you asked):

A tip, when you are in your 20′s, this is the prime time to find, get and keep a man! It should be a priority, trust me in other groups it is placed above a “career” for most women.

Reason being, after your 20′s, no matter what you bring to the table, how much you got, how accomplished you are, or how jazzy you look, very few women up in age are desirable for most men when you stand them up against an 18-24 year old.

See, you can have all whatever you think makes you of worth, but a 39 year old broad with all kind of crap standing up against a tender 18-20 year old chick with nothing, 9 times out of 10 the man (no matter what his socoeconomic level) is going to prefer the younger chick.

Just how it is. But if a woman is smart, she would leverage herself while she’s in those prime years, find a good man THEN, and then MARRY him while she’s still fresh out the box. We simply prefer women like this vs. ole worn out broads. Ladies get um while you younger don’t wait till you all used up and ole…

  • Tina

    @Black Orpheus

I definitely agree with one and three. Why would any person, man or woman, hire the same attorney as their spouse, especially when said spouse is in the spotlight and capable of making a shading deal and trying to undermine his ex. I don’t know how old Steve’s children are with Mary, but if they are young, $1,000 a month barely covers daycare, depending on where you leave. If there are older and attend private school, the monthly check still won’t suffice.

Now #2, is still up in the air for me too. If Mary is going to claim domestic violence, she has to show some proof.

TEAM Steve…As a people we have to do better. We don’t like for others to point at our faults but its a known fact black woman out number black men. Young black men today OMG I feel sorry for my daughter. Look at the role models young black men are facing today. Lil Wayne? And young black woman I feel for them too. We idolize nonsence, not knowledge. But yet we commend Steven and Bill Cosby for speaking the truth!!!! Marriage is the last thing these young men have on their minds.

  • Bossip sucks

Chris guess what Steve didn’t start that rumor about your gender-generation, “Bobo and dem” did, however, we all can find people if we would keep our pants up, skirts down and butts in church while truly living God centered lives. I’m just saying…

  • Tina

    @Black Orpheus

    Congrats on your daughter’s engagement!!

  • Bey-nonsense

Bottom line: Steve Harvey (3 marriages, 8 kids) cannot dispense credible advice about relationships. People in Steve Harvey generation faced the same problems in marriages but the difference is the women stayed in the relationship and took whatever treatment they received because they didn’t have great options. Today, women have a lot more opportunities and don’t depend on a man to provide financially. To me, it’s 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other. As a black woman, I don’t like not being married and not having a family. However, I’m not willing to accept anything (cheating, disease, getting stuck with kids because he’s preoccupied with BET lifestyle, etc.)

  • PHE

@KIGALI-First and foremost let me say that that description you depicted of black woman definitely doesn’t describe me. I AM A SUCCESSFUL, SINGLE, HAPPY HOME-OWNER who happens to have NO CHILDREN!!! So what exactly are you saying??? And I am definitely not laying on my back for anyone other than my husband. I don’t feel any man is worthy of sleeping with me!!! So get your facts straight, before you call yourself checking me, because not all women are on welfare, and having babies out of wedlock. And further more, what do you mean women get pampered??? You sound like a fool. I had to fight to get to where I am, and I NEVER asked anyone, especially a man for a damn thing. IF I HAD TO RELY ON A MAN, I WOULDN’T HAVE JACK!!! Maybe you should take notes. You are probably living in your mother’s basement right now!!! LOL….

@tg, A, I’m just putting it out there. Like it or not whether the men in your life didn’t tell you this is in fact how most men are wired.

Your response is exactly why many females stay mentally stuck and why you see whole “families” with like 5 generations of single females. “Don’t listen to no man”, yep and the cycle continues.

Very few other cultures have adopted such mentalities towards their men. And those who have….well we can all see the end results of that now can’t we?

Keep fooling yourselves, age has a lot to do with a womans chances of getting married, and why? Because of the exact reasons I stated. Men are hard wired differently. And yes, in a perfect world age shouldn’t matter for women, but even biologically it does. I am telling you how most men believe whether they will voice it or not.

Again, trust, a 35-40 yo broad is very little competition for a 18-24 year old, just how it is. Yall trying to play on a field where the odds are already stacked against you. All this instead of getting a husband and bowing out of the game while you in your prime…but keep fighting and believing the same crap that got most broads in these situations anyways…

Lets be clear here. When a woman talks about standards, she is talking about money. WOmen dont care about the mans values or morality or character. As long as he has money, she will take him. Chris Johnson is SO on point!!!! I agree with this dude TOTALLY!

We need dudes to shut Steve Harvey up because this bama talks some str8 up garbage!

I have listened to what he says on his talk shows and albiet…some of it IS true! But the way Steve talks, he doesn’t give Black men the benefit of the doubt and it’s almost as if he sides with Black womens issues when he’s doing it because he sees you Black women as a MARKET!!!

That’s why the chump is divorced!

so let’s get real. My black brothers? Love yourself because it’s alot of haters out there trying to break us down.

YOUR JOKING RIGHT…? Yes there are Black men on REALITY SHOWS but the number of Black females far outweight that of the males… Bottom line, I don’t have a problem with finding a Black, White, Yellow, or Green women…lol Its pretty pathetic of the media (AND BLACK WOMEN THAT BUY INTO THIS BULL) that it’s hard to find a GOOD BLACK MAN…

Most these females want the same DUDE… They want the BAD BOY… They don’t want a nice guy with a decent job… THEY WANT THE BALLA WHO HAS “STACKS…” They don’t want the UGLY guy making a honest living… They want WHAT REALITY T.V. tells them…!lol And that goes for MAJORITY of women caught up in a FALSE REALITY…

    AS FAR as TIGER goes… His @$$ shoulda stayed SINGLE… PERIOD… He could’ve banged all the women he wanted (with protection of course). :-}

Lets be clear here. When a woman talks about standards, she is talking about money. WOmen dont care about the mans values or morality or character. As long as he has money, she will take him. This should explain why athletes, dope boys, rappers
    ________________

I guess I am the exception. I have ALWAYS dated men based on character. My friends looked down on me at times because the guys’ pockets may have been a little slim, but I didn’t care. many may argue that a man will treat you well if he has no money because thats his only card, well I have dated rich guys too who respected me. On the flippy i have dated disrespectful poor and rich guys. All a person has to offer IS their character. I can take care of myself. But I refuse to sit up and talk to myself all my life! lol!

People have to decide what they want in a relationship and find balance. There is nothing wrong with wanting financial stability, but I don’t believe in a woman or a man laying up just because I’m a billionaire. A person should want to be resourceful in other’s lives. I thought that was “human nature”.

Yeah, $$$$$ means alot to alot of women, but they are a miserable bunch. More more miserable than the woman who isn’t a sack chaser.

Material only makes you happy you got it for about 7 days. It aint shyt after that. Trust.

I was the one who brought up the millitary. I was saying how a black female doesnt have to work to get what men in the military have to work for. All females have to go is get pregnant and everything she has is paid for but a man has to work to get something. Thats the difference. So all this talk about how well black females are doing?

That’s exactly how sucessful marketing works: find a target audience, appeal to their insecurities, then sell ‘em the snake oil. Of course he’s not going 2 offend the goose that lays the golden eggs. There’s no money in the truth.

I do run into the ones who make $10 an hour and have no place to live and barely a car to drive, but least they are taking their a s s e s to work. The downside of that is they are always trying to live off somebody and the established ones think you oughtta give them some a s s because they have things.

Black people will never get ahead until we stop separating of selves from the society that we choose to live in.

What I’m saying is this. The study in it self is flayed because it assumes that all black women of that age group want to be married. It also assumes that they all want to marry a black man. From my experience thats not always true. Also it sets the tone for more racial hate amongst black people in general. Take for instance this website and its “Sellout” and “Swirl” comments.

We live in America. The year is 2010. Not one of us is pure anything. No pure whites or blacks. By the way there are other races besides the two living here.

The MAIN reason you see more YOUNG BLACK females going to work more than that of YOUNG BLACK males is due to the OUT OF CONTROL manipulation that’s goin on… EDUCATED BLACK MALES are far more of a threat to the control OF POWER and RESOURCES THAN Black females…

Y didn’t he check that lady whose criteria 4 a man was a dude who could dwarf the Sears Tower? SOMEBODY had unrealistic expectations.

The more he talked, the more I heard “Buy my book at amazon (dot) com for $15.99″.

He’s got books 2 sell and offending his target demographic will defeat his own purpose. 24 Fitness is not going to say “Hey… put that Popeye’s down and get your lard-@$$ in the gym and quit making excuses already.”

They say “It’s time 2 live up 2 your New Years resolution… swimsuit season will b here b4 u know it, etc.”

If I wasn’t hearing Steve pitch his “expert advice” he seemed 2 b saying “When any of u ladies r ready 2 try an older man, give Uncle Steve a call.”

  • Aunt Viv

    @ Slide,

I know none of us is perfect, but Steve just rubs me the wrong way. He was recently on the cover of Essence Magazine a month or two back with the new wife, and I thought that the article really glossed over the fact that he’s hardly a role model for love and relationships. His wife does appear to have a good head on her shoulders, but I just can’t get past Steve’s past errors, which to me, make me give him the side eye when it comes to his advice, which I’ve been seeing and hearing a lot lately, and with almost preacher-like intensity. I still need to be convinced of his sincerity.

I listen to Steve Harvey on a regular I dont always agree with him 100% but for the most part he makes a lot of sense pertaining to relationship matters But there are several different things that make a difference when your tryin to find a lasting relationship and Steve or any one else will never have all the answers, The problem with most people is they take their individual experiences and think that thats all there is to it just because a few men have run into a few bad apples they assume that there is limited classy or upstanding women anywhere. Same for a lot of women, Bottom line life and relationships are about exepriences you will have good ones and bad if we focus on what we have to offer and what we need to be happy the ride may be a little easier. “When Ruby Dee writes a book giving relationship advice…”

I’ve always loved and admired Ruby Dee and the late Ossie Davis, and I was shocked when I learned a few years ago that they had an open marriage at one point. They were a beautiful couple. . .
    ________________________________________________

    Hi Sydney! U been good?

Yes Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee were married 4 almost 60 years! I heard about the “open” relationship, but hey… I’d wager that they did something right. Death certainly did them part.

What do u think about this Steve Harvey as relationship guru business?

  • Lady Minerva

I do not listen to Steve Harvey. He thinks way too highly of himself! I used to listen to his morning show until I heard him dog Jacque Reid for going to the Tom Joyner show.

I also hated how he berated his co-hosts on the air. That got to me.

I remember one day a lady called into his show and gave a cryptic account of some “court case” he was involved in (which I now assume was his divorce proceedings). All the lady would say was how shady Steve was and how “it will all come out”. I don’t know if anyone else remembers this.

Afterwards, he was acting jittery to the point where his co-hosts had to ask him if he was OK.

    He is a FRAUD!

you know what i agree with you in a way but i am not like those kind of woman i was taught to respect my man i respect him treat him like a king i dont snap off causing drama dont have no kids in college i dress like i got sense and like i want a husband but all i get is men trying to use me they take my kindness and kind heart and treat me horribly it has got me so cautious that i dont trust men at all anymore i know its wrong but what about the woman who respect themselves and they men i guess its my fault because i pick the wrong men not the men’s fault who use me and and take advantage of my kindness or my kind heart huh

  • Tina

    @Sydney

Would Steve Harvey’s words be easier to digest if you removed the man from the message? I’ve heard similar criticism of Bill Cosby (with whom I agree) based on his past transgressions (such as being accused of certain activities with young women). I still view many of his points as valid and worthy of attention.

  • Sydney™ (RIP Teddy Pendergrass)

I found a copy of the letter Mr. Johnson wrote, and I skimmed it. He makes a number of very valid points. I also took issue with Mr. Harvey’s advice that sisters should entertain older men. There are men who are unsuitable partners in all age ranges (as the saying goes, “there’s no fool like an old fool” — is that the correct phrasing).

I agree that black men cannot be cast together in one category based on a simplistic qualifier as age. The man of my dreams is my peer and is a perfect gentleman.

heres how i see it. If you cant find a good black man, go find a good white/asian/latino/indian man! Expand your options ladies. Bottom line, depending where you go you may not find what you are looking for, so you must revamp your options. Opening yourself up to dating outside your race does help.

I agree with Steve Harvey a lot of black men carry themselves the way our ancestors carried themselves. There is clearly a generation gap when it comes to the way that women are treated today versus the way our grandfathers and greatgrandfathers treated their women. Today there is no marriages before children. And when the female gets pregnant many black men will not step up to the plate and take care of the family. Soo I say Steve may have struck a nerve, but I do agree with him. And to the female that said Steve Harvey need to do something to try and help change this , he actually has a mentoring program where he helps young boys try to be better men. As we speak he has fundraiser going on to raise money for the organization.

I do understand why he is offended. I hate when people speak in general terms. Race is a physical characteristic that is it. When someone says black people do this or black people do that it really makes me upset. Because the person saying this doesn’t know every black person and they never will.

Numbers don’t lie. They’re just more black women than black men in this country. I am a black woman living in Los Angeles. I have 6 years of college. I am currently working as a Graphic designer. I am very into art, architecture, and music. It is rare that I even see a black man who is not gay or coupled up (usually with a white woman). The more successful I become the less black men I see around me. I would never turn down a man because he was black. However, I am not going to go around searching for one either. It is important to me to marry a man who I have a lot in common with and loves me just as much as I love him. I don’t think anyone should marry for race.

Yes, girl, Google Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis and open marriage, and there’s an interview in which they discussed the arrangement. Yes, I know, I was shocked, too. I would love to meet Ms. Dee in person.

    @Tina

“Of course I do. I can only imagine what some would say.”

Yes, some criticized Obama as a biracial man (“not quite black/African American”) for his remarks. If I recall correctly, his Father’s Day remarks led to Rev. Jesse threatening his privates (as you know, Jesse had his own issues with fathering a child out of wedlock several years ago). I also read/heard some people’s comments that they felt Obama was singling out black men for criticism and had not taken other groups to task.

  • From Experience

    @Kigali

“These men, considering the kinds of chicks we have walking around, have probably never met a lady worthy of his respect”.
    —–
Yawn, here with go with this nonsense. Men are responsible for the manner in which they choose to view and treat women. You, as usual always manage to blame Black women for everything. The reality is males DO have a hard time respecting women because they tend to have a hard time respecting themselves (promiscuity). At some point and time, black males are going to have to take responsibility for their own actions. How you treat people is a reflection of who YOU are as a person. So, just cut the blaming and degrading Black women for everything but then again you have ALWAYS been a donkey so I don’t expect much from you now.

  • From Experience

“Agree 100%, but everybody so damn jaded that we can’t even get together. I’m not giving up on the black family, but with this pimp/ho mentality that we have adopted as black culture is making things extremely hard”.

Yes, it is especially when we decide to blame others for our personal behavior. It is the pimp/ho mentality that has destroyed us. As a result, all Black women are viewed as nothing but sexual objects and all black males are expected to be sexual beings to the point they are incapable of maintaining a healthy, normal relationship.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing what you want, even in your 30s, regardless of the level of success attained. Just because their parents raised them with sense, doesn’t necessarily mean to persecute them on the criteria that must be met for a man. I happily married an educated Black man, with no drama, some swag, and very confident in where he is going. They are out there, believe me. Most of my girlfriends are married too. Black men know how to distinguish a nice girl from a bad girl. If you want to talk about his sexual promiscuity which is also highlighted by the father not being around, you have to consider who the heck he is being promiscuous with. 50 years ago, men wanted to have sex. They went to prostitutes. Now men dont even have to. Thanks for the sexual revolution and the break down of all none standards.

And to be honest, We both love each other to death, but at the time, she was working on finishing college, and I was involved with my job as an Engineer..But now that things are settled, we are planning on moving in together, and getting married, but the main thing is she doesn’t need me, to take care of her, and I don’t need her to take care of me either…We’re together because we love each other and are stronger and happier as a result!!! Why are people so worried about what we are doing?Maybe some of these single Black women like being single? Why the hell is America so concerned about us now?

I don’t care. I’m young, in college, and I have no problem getting dates and having boyfriends. Men of all races come after me but I rather be single for now because I rather worry about school instead. The right man will come to me someday when the time is right for me. Right now I’m just having fun. Life should be all keg-stands, beaches, and bad reality tv shows. Enjoy it while it lasts. I think maybe Black people not just Black women are looking in the wrong places for mates.

Let me say this: YOU WILL NOT FIND YOU FUTURE HUSBAND/WIFE AT THE CLUB!!!!

Best Places To Check Out Men/Women Who Are Actually Decent: Art Galleries, Bookstores, Coffee Shops, Wine Openers, Charity Events, Marathons, Family Functions, Religious Functions, Beaches, The Gym, The Park, Your College/University, Anywhere but the CLUBS!

Steve Harvey is right. There is a man shortage and that’s nothing new.I read somewhere that there are more single women on the east coast and more single men on the west coast. Most Blacks in America tend to live in the East Coast. Why don’t some of these single women visit the West Coast? There are tons of nice, handsome, intelligent, and wealthy men over there of all races.

@ I love black men but
You really sound like you’ve been scarred sista and I have to completely disagree with your post. White men contrary to popular belief are much more likely to abandon their children than black men, the difference they remarry and excommunicate themsleves from their children which is worse than never being there at all in my opinion because you can’t miss what you never had. And the fact that more black men are in jail than college is a deeper societal issue, when you disenfranchise a group of people, kill their leaders who were trying to build a positive black community, place gun shop, liquor stores, and drugs within our community what do you expect to happen. We always find the neagative in our community but rarely do we ever take the time to thouroughly examine the reasoning behind the ills we face and find a way to come together and cure these problems as a united group of people. Attitudes like these are why we are dying as a group of people we are the only ones who can’t stick together and don’t show any faith in one another.

I don’t think we are disagreeing at all. When I was talking about a woman who works and still men, some of whom don’t even work at all expect her to cook and clean and take care of the kids on top of working and they still want us to look like Amerie or somebody 24/7.

I’m just saying that having some good attributes like a good job or a degree or being good looking doesn’t automatically mean you deserve the same in your mate or even a mate at all

Men and women alike should be happy and LOVE the one who LOVES you . We’re on the same planet and we’re all the same , love is love no matter what color . If you choose to deal with whatever comes with dealing with someone outside your race or even slightly different to a degree , good for you because it’s a testament to what love means to you .

When a women has a preference for what kind of man she wants to be with people say oh “be realistic”. However, I don’t see why someone would marry a person who wasn’t what they wanted from the beginning. At the same time some people need to realize that they may need to change or better themselves in order to get the kind of person they want. An example of this would be an overweight woman wanting to marry an athletic man who is rich and 6.5′. No one’s looks should be more important to you than your own. If looks are important than make sure you look as good as the person you are trying to attract. If marrying someone who is wealthy is important. Than you need to be hanging out with wealthy people on a regular bases. How can you marry someone who is rich if you are not even in their circle? I do not believe anyone should settle. However, you may have to change your life to get that person. Instead of waiting around for that person to come alone and change your. Drastic measures may have to be taken. This may include, changing the people you hand out with, changing your career, moving to another city, loosing weight, changing the way you dress, or even plastic surgery. If getting that person isn’t worth changing than maybe that is not what you really want.

Actually in most traditional non Western societies, older men marry younger women as standard.

    @I love black men but…

Also, this isnt about black females having low standards, it is about them having bad standards. DOnt think the intentions of females are pure. They arent. They were willing to pass up nice men because “They are too nice.” They love drama. Fights, arguments, etc. Also when you purposefully get pregnant by a man you arent married to, you are asking, demanding to be a single mother. Dont put the cart before they horse and ask the horse to carry you.

I was just wondering…I have a male cousin who is always complaining calling women gold diggers/snobs/materialistic and such. He is a Teacher. Not bad looking but not tall 5’8 or so and has a lil bit of a gut.

A mutual friend had a birthday party at a local club and we both went. I saw him try for women way out of his league physically. I hate to say that. He struck out a few times. Then this girl with light skin and green eyes and light brown hair and was tall and slim gave him her phone number. They went out a couple of times but she wasn’t really feeling him it was obvious (not returning phone call and the like). But he was ecstatic because she was “SO FINE”. Then one of our other cousins saw her at the mall with a well known drug dealer! My cousin pi.ssed but at the club that night when he met her, he passed up at least 3 women who expressed an interest and he didn’t reciprocate. To me they were all beautiful but had the classic African American features. High cheekbones, broader noses, fuller lips (not fat at all). They prolly would have been happy with him having a degree and a respectable profession but my cousin insists on dating out of his league then blaming all black women for the actions of a few. Some people need to look in the mirror and their wallet and date on their level. It would be a lot less dramatic.

I appreciate what Chris is trying to say- ultimately the proof is in the pudding though.

If you meet a man, any race, any age, and he has the symptoms of a ‘dog’, ‘pimp’, or just someone you don’t want, don’t get caught up in his blackness or youngness or fine-ness or richness and Hit the road. If he seems like a good man, give him a shot.

As a black single woman I understand the crisis, trust me. But I’m more likely to attribute it to the assassination of the IMAGE of black women than I am to anything else. Black men don’t seem to have as much of a problem problem marrying Non- black women so it can’t ALL be marriage-phobia.

The numbers show black women are less likely to marry outside of their race than ANY other major group in the US. It’s obviously partially because we’re socialized to prefer black men- not wanting to be called “race traitors” or because of myths surrounding black masculinity and the lack of masculinity in other ethnicities. But it’s also, I think, because of the way black beauty and black womanhood are portrayed in the media (black AND white)… The way they’re FALSELY portrayed.

There are strong black women. There are softspoken black women. There are black women who are doormats. There are black women who hold together multiple generations Single-handedly. There are professional black women. There are black women on welfare. There are blue-collar black women. There are black women who will take a bullet for their man. There are black women who will put a bullet in their man.

Refuse to be stereotyped. Refuse to tolerate stereotypes. Then maybe we’ll see some statistical changes.

If that is the case, fair enough, however, what I derived from your post was that you found him ugly…May I quote you??? :

“Steve told the truth. Finding a honest educated man is rare. Mr. Johnson if u r who u say u r most some women will turn u down cus ur ugly.”

Your words, not mine…And for the record, you sound pretty shallow to me..You compare yourself to Lisa Raye, You compare your figure to hers, and you state: “I dont have a problem getting men’s attention; my looks keep me the center of attention. I have a body and face similar to Lisa Raye’s.”

You sound very shallow based on those statements alone…You said nothing about being a good woman, you said nothing about being a caring and compazzionate woman, and you made no mention of how you would be a companion to someone..All I heard was how much you resemble Lisa Raye…Well please allow me to tell you, you certainly do emulate her, because she has some very ugly ways as well…I am 5’11, I currently weigh 205 lbs, I am emploed as an Engineer, and I am articulate, intelligent, and caring…I have a great sense of humor, and I can make almost any one laugh, but I don’t bash people for no reason! If I felt someone wasn’t my cup of tea, I’d tell them, but I wouldn’t hurt their feelings while doing so…I have a sneaking suspicion you would not only hurt someone who had a genuine interest in you, but you would delight in it….

    brnhornet,

I wouldn’t be surprise if Sidney, Denzel or Will have a chick on the side. If so they probably would invest in one who knows how to play her position.

As far as relationships go it is harder for a Black woman to date because most men are not on their level. Whether it’s economically, spiritually, or mentally. When they do find one they either dont appreciate him and unintentionally push him away. Or he’s already spoken for.

I do agree with Steve on the point that the prior generaton did not take full responsibility for raising boys into men.

  • Georgia Girl

I agree and disagree with what Steve said. There are alot of men out there that didn’t have that positive male role model. Alot of them grew up with the huslers, bangers and trapboys and they learned from them… I mean how many bangers do you know that respect women or even have a WOMAN not a girl that’s just as immature as they are but a WOMAN. Not very many. But there are some GREAT men out there it’s just a matter of your paths crossing and taking a chance on love. I found the greatest man a year ago he does some craziness sometimes but I couldn’t ask for a better man. But it took me going through a pile of the worst men created first. I agree with Chris too people are TOO influenced by the stars. I think Steve just wants to influence the young black women to go towards older black men because he needs some young meat! LOL!!!!

  • Dreday

Im 23 year old male with a degree in economics. I have a job and my own place. I have both my parents and they are still happily married.

    THE PROBLEM IS THIS:

In some cases, when a good blk woman gets with a good blk man, the woman may stop some of the things she was doing before (sex, cooking, etc). Woman can get caught up in this “Independent Woman” mess and forget all about their good blk man. When this happens, the good blk man realizes that there are many other woman that want him, so he cheats or leaves.

MY POINT IS: you never see men screaming independent man. If you want to be an independent woman, then you will be just that, BY YOURSELF.

P.S. If you have a good blk man DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO KEEP HIM!

NOT ONE GENDER IS TO BLAME FOR THE STATE THAT BLACK RELATIONSHIPS ARE IN. JUST LIKE WHEN A RELATIONSHIP GOES BAD, USUALLY BOTH PARTIES ARE AT FAULT FOR SOMETHING, EVEN IF ONE PERSON LAID THE FINAL STRAW.

(SOME) BLACK WOMEN SHOULDN’T BE SO NEGATIVE AND HAVE HIGHER STANDARDS FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR MATES. (SOME) BLACK WOMEN SHOULDN’T YEARN TO BE A BABY’S MAMA. (SOME) BLACK WOMEN NEED TO LEARN HOW TO RESPECT THEMSELVES.

(SOME) BLACK MEN NEED NOT TO BE SO FREAKISHLY AFRAID OF COMMITMENT AND NEED NOT LOOK TO ATHLETES AND RAPPERS FOR HOW TO BE A MAN. PIMPING OUT/USING A WOMAN IS NOT CUTE.

THATS MY TWO CENTS. I’M DONE

  • Ms_NYC

    @KAT

I like everything you stated, but do you think average black men (not celebs) are marrying outside of their race, or is it just something the media is sensationalizing (and portraying it as an epidemic) due to all the celebs who may be marrying interracially?

  • Ready Set Go

Besides that, did you ever notice that the good men keeping their relationships right never talk about it? They just get on with it. It is their actions that usually catches our attention, not their boastful pseudo Dr. Phil nonsense.

  • http://www.modelmayhem.com/qianam qianampresents

    @DreDay

Men dont scream independent man because historically men were the providers and head of the household. How could you be independent? That doesn’t make sense. Even when unmarried, men are groomed to work and take care of himself and the woman he is with.

A woman’s role in the family has always been to nurture, take care of the kids and household. If she worked, she still relied on the husbands income to contribute to the household overall.

The problem is men AND women need to take care of EACH other. If people appreciated the male and female roles and came together neither diminishing the importance of the other, things wouldn’t be in such ruins like it is now.

Good women get tired of having to do it all themselves. However,if she waits around on some of these men who don’t have it together, it will never get done. Don’t blame the woman for being independent, encourage her to rely on you and show her you got her back. Women of this generation are not June Cleavers content on being housewives so dont expect that however not all women want to be independent and without a good man.

In many cases the pickings are slim and that woman has had to do her for so long she dont know how to let a man do it for her. Its a reconditioning process.

    @Ready Set Go

I agree with most of what you said. I know quite a few men and women who taught themselves how to be successful because they sought it out despite their upbringing. They didnt let it hinder them. Sometimes nature versus nurture is stronger though and thats probably why they were successful. They had something inside of them already that drove them to seek out ways to better themselves. Some have it, some don’t

    @Late
How are men getting more blame than females? True there are many trifling females out here however who do you think didnt mentor the same generation of men that women are complaining about? That is a man’s responsibility to teach his son. A woman can only teach a man so much and there are somethings women can not teach a man on how to be a good man.

  • CRIME SHAME

  • Samantha

As a black woman I have to admit we are just as much of the blame as black men. All woman are to blame because we lower our standards to have a man. When I say standards I don’t mean material I mean moral. When cheat with married men, or men with that we know are in a relationship. We have babies for these men without any committment and get pissed of when he goes on about his business.
When we have woman who have moral standard set the rules these men go to the easy woman so they don’t have to be responsible. I know several woman who run after the thugs, pretty boys, and popular guys, but don’t give good men the time of day. Then they want to cry foul when these men treat them like last weeks trash. A man is only going to treat you the way you allow him too. As far as Steve Harvey he’s full of shit.

Whether a man has a father or role model or whatever becomes irrelevant. We all grow up and know right and wrong;we all know how we should treat another human being. And WE make our choices.President Obama’s father abandoned him at an early age and what a man he is!
Ultimately it’s not about what we have but who we are.Integrity and decency have no gender.

  • KingSheeba

Steve is absolutely right this generation of men were mostly raised by women they don’t know how to be men. This guy makes no sense. I am a black women and can’t stand when black men try and ride on my back. I personally feel like I will be alone for life because I’m in a class by myself and no man will ever match up to me as far as character, ambition, respect etc… I have lost a lot of respect for black men and it’s not because of media it’s because the majority of them are garbage.

  • prettyeyedgirl

This is why black women need to move on and marry out; waiting on blackmen, she will NEVER MARRY MUCH LESS HAVE CHILDREN. Im married and loving it, I know if I had waited on a blackman, it most likely would not have happend. Steve Harvey is an IDIOT! Mr. Johnson is right. As long as men; black men in particular maintain that shitty attitude and that we dont have a biological clock, they will stay as they are…losers…Black women if you want a family and marriage; Date out!
