Usher may be crawling back to his mom soon enough:
Usher is said to have been disappointed that it sold 433,000 in its first week, compared with his last CD, 2004’s “Confessions,” which had sales of 1.1 million in its first seven days. “Usher was livid!,” claims an insider. “He threatened to fire everyone.”
“People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother,” says a source. “Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does. Usher can be stubborn. But he may be ready.”Some claim Usher pink-slipped his mom because she failed to show proper deference to his stylist-turned-girlfriend-turned-wife, Tameka Foster. But now that Foster has given her a grandson, the two ladies are said to be getting along better. Usher, for one, denies he fired his mom. Rather, he tells Vibe, “[I paid her] the ultimate compliment – to retire her to be a full-time grandmother.”
Patton has actually been busy running her own record label and managing other artists, including Usher’s brother, Jlack. But sources say that if Usher cries momma, she’s there for him.
Tsk tsk. This should come as no surprise. Perhaps Usher was a little too hasty in “retiring” Mommy Dearest. SMH.

Mom knows best most of the time. It is a shame the way he let things go down just because he feeks he has to prove how much he “loves” Tameka to everyone. “Retiring” the one person that was there from the start, lies! Usher needs a reality check, quick, fast, and in a hurry.

I got that album it wasn’t that bad. It was no Confessions but then again what is nowadays, they use the same songwriters and beat makers and producers all the RnB sounds the same. I’m kinda glad they are going to the international sound now. But i’m sure that will be overdone soon.

Well it’s a joke..Usher made a quality album, but like your palate your music taste evolves. Lil Wayne sold a milli in the 1st week, which is good, but it had nothing to do with music. It had everything to do with loyal drones willing Lil Wayne to the throne..Well he still ain’t there and 1.7 million copies is all it will do..Everyone who wants the album already has it..
With Usher’s album, it was the second single “Moving Mountains”..The Confessions album had “Burn” and “Confessions” which are ballads, but thugs in caddies got p*****es for singing that *****. It was hot and no denying..Moving Mountains just ain’t hot..I like it, but I’ve heard it before and and can understand discontent..It makes you skeptical about the album..Unless he releases another single that gets m*****ive play..the album will only do 1.5-2 million which is good, but Confessions sold 14 million.
The album was wack so I’m sure when the first 443,000 people bought and heard how wack it was they all told their friends not to buy it.

This will probably go down as one of the top news stories of 2008 that you’ve never heard about. Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) presented articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush on June 9, 2008. (It’s amazing that as Kucinich is presenting the articles of Impeachment in this C-SPAN video, his colleagues are not just ignoring him, they’re carrying on in conversation as if he’s not even speaking!)
Mainstream media gave very little attention to it – if any at all – because as the Fourth Branch of the United States Government their job is to control what you think and what you are exposed to. The Democrats and the Republicans are not interested in initiating impeachment proceedings against Bush though for different reasons.
The Republicans, naturally, wouldn’t want a sitting Republican President to undergo the scrutiny that comes along with the process – doing damage to the party and its future prospects of political leadership.
The Democrats, strangely enough, don’t want to support impeachment of George Bush because with his historically low approval rating, parti*****tion in war crimes, inattention to domestic programs, and general malfeasance in office, he has become a political pinata that the Dems can hold up and rally the m*****es toward the polls with. They wish to use him as a springboard for their return to power and are less interested in being faithful to their constitutional duty. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has even said as far back as two years ago that impeachment was off the table.
Which reminded me of a conversation that Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance clergy had with a popular Maryland Congressman last summer. When one of the clergy mentioned the prospect of impeachment against Bush, the Congressman laughed in our faces. Therefore, they are culpable in this mess as well.
I caught up with Troy Johnson from 105.7FM (Baltimore) this past Saturday at the African American Men’s Health Conference and he let me know that Congressman Kucinich may be joining him on his radio show on Monday, June 23, 2008 10AM – 12NOON on 105.7FM to discuss his plans to impeach Bush. I will be tuning in and I hope you will as well.

You are right about the state of the music industry. No one sells 14 million records anymore because the m*****es are downloading one song at a time from the internet. A close friend of mine was in a popular band in the 80’s that sold millions of records. He said recently the checks have stopped coming because of illegal downloads and low radio play.
Whatever-His mother pimped him out like all of the other child stars, and it’s time for him to make more mature music. He fired her because he was tired of her, just like other musicians/actors leave their parents behind. If he goes back to her, it will just be to keep the peace in their family.
And to be honest with you, I don’t think this is really true. She had him singing about sex when he was just 15 years old, she knows how to use him to make money, and is probably enjoying the “controversy” of the mother vs daughter-in-law thing.
I could listen to Confessions from start to finish and back again. I haven’t been impressed by the tracks I’ve heard from this latest album. Usher’s appeal has seemed to weaken. I’m not sure if it’s because of bad press or the marriage to his wife. Chris Brown is just as talented as Usher but he has two things going for him:
1. He’s YOUNG
2. He’s attractive
Yes, Usher is a good singer/dancer, but I have always thought he’s a bit strange looking.

Not all of those people’s parents were in the spotlight with them at first. His mother has been getting a lot of press lately over this “drama.” As I stated earlier, she knows how to make money, and I guarantee you palms are being greased to keep this being talked about.

She hadn’t steered him wrong in all the time she was managing his career what makes him think that when she was giving him advice on Tameka that she would be wrong about that? Wake up yall. Ushers album Here I stand would be seen as a great album if it wasnt being compared to Confessions. What gets me is that people talk about ushers mom as if she is Kanye, Timbo, or Dr. Dre. Confessions sold purely because of media publicity when him and chili was together, and they where all over TV. Not that it wasnt good music, but when you have so much media hype, its hard not to sell like that. Truth is, Chris Brown, and Neyo will never sell as many albums as Usher has, unless they pull of a grand scheme of dating a famous person and putting their problems out in the media then using it as a publicity tool.

I don’t think marriage ruins anyone career, but they need to evolve. Usher is not the same guy he was 5-10 years ago, yet his music is still trying to tap into the kiddy market. Usher is not a newcomer to the game. Same thing for Janet. She is stuck doing the same thing she was back in the day, and its not working anymore.
Take Mary J Blige for instance. MJB has been successful because she knows who her market is and her music has grown with her fan base. When she dropped What’s the 411, as a young 20-something, I could relate to that back then. Now as a 30-something woman, I can still relate to her because her music appeals to me still.
These singers that try to “stay young”, end up making themselves look like old fools.
