The Game is trying to justify the unjustifiable:
Rapper The Game is defending a controversial boast in the lyrics of his new song “Big Dreams.” The Los Angeles-based entertainer brags about having “blood diamonds straight out of Angola” in the song, at a time when many celebrities are urging shoppers not to buy conflict gems.
But The Game insists all of Hip-Hop’s biggest stars wear conflict diamonds, and he isn’t about to pretend rap’s big names are bothered about where their diamonds come from. He says, “I know the negatives of what I said, but the truth is, we’re all wearing blood diamonds, so it ain’t just me. “Do I feel the struggle in Africa? Yeah. Do I think people should be dying over diamonds? No. But it ain’t like I’m the only cat around with a chain on.”
Yeah – The Game sports the bloodied ice, and he doesn’t give a f**k. Not that we agree with this cat (and we really don’t), but why be stupid enough to even admit to that sh*t publicly? Trife.

This will probably go down as one of the top news stories of 2008 that you’ve never heard about. Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) presented articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush on June 9, 2008. (It’s amazing that as Kucinich is presenting the articles of Impeachment in this C-SPAN video, his colleagues are not just ignoring him, they’re carrying on in conversation as if he’s not even speaking!)
Mainstream media gave very little attention to it – if any at all – because as the Fourth Branch of the United States Government their job is to control what you think and what you are exposed to. The Democrats and the Republicans are not interested in initiating impeachment proceedings against Bush though for different reasons.
The Republicans, naturally, wouldn’t want a sitting Republican President to undergo the scrutiny that comes along with the process – doing damage to the party and its future prospects of political leadership.
The Democrats, strangely enough, don’t want to support impeachment of George Bush because with his historically low approval rating, parti*****tion in war crimes, inattention to domestic programs, and general malfeasance in office, he has become a political pinata that the Dems can hold up and rally the m*****es toward the polls with. They wish to use him as a springboard for their return to power and are less interested in being faithful to their constitutional duty. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has even said as far back as two years ago that impeachment was off the table.
Which reminded me of a conversation that Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance clergy had with a popular Maryland Congressman last summer. When one of the clergy mentioned the prospect of impeachment against Bush, the Congressman laughed in our faces. Therefore, they are culpable in this mess as well.
I caught up with Troy Johnson from 105.7FM (Baltimore) this past Saturday at the African American Men’s Health Conference and he let me know that Congressman Kucinich may be joining him on his radio show on Monday, June 23, 2008 10AM – 12NOON on 105.7FM to discuss his plans to impeach Bush. I will be tuning in and I hope you will as well.

His statement, while probably true, does seem a little ig’nant.
I will say that there will always be corrupt military and political officials in certain countries in Africa who support their efforts with conflict diamonds.
But they are becoming fewer and fewer. More and more buyers of diamonds insist that they all be certified as ‘Conflict Free’. Why? Because if a Zales or any other major name in the business were found out, they would quickly find themselves out of business. No one wants that kind of attention.
Unless your diamonds were made in a lab,everyone wears blood diamonds.

The money spent on diamonds by black artist and athletes is ridiculous. Few are investing in their own communities who wholeheartedly support them. Instead of wasting money on blood diamonds why not invest in banks and other credit lending institutions in the black community? Truly owning our own broadcast company? Grocery stores? Scholarships and grants? We have Bill Gates helping us ten times more than Oprah Winfrey. She loves to give white folks an extra leg up, but what about her own? Thats exactly what he is talking about. We would rather shoot down his perception of the situation rather than add to it. The “ruling the world” statement was in quotations for a reason which is it wasnt to be taken literally but as a metaphor. Game is one of those guys who may be too cheap to buy the diamonds that arent from that particular area so he takes the ones that are bloodied which is rather pathetic. People as a whole should look at whats being taken because of those things & realize they arent that important. They will never be able to gaurantee you life or time. Instead they take up your time trying to get them that you cant get back & you can lose your life over them. As you stated, its wrong all the way around. I understand both points of view though, which is possible to do. You dont have to only have a one track minded way of thinking. Both of you are right in your own regard.
