I’m not gay, but I happily wear skirts. The wife is quite used to it, the girlfriend totally adores it, and my date tonight is certainly not phased by it.

I realize that most men wouldn’t be seen dead in a skirt, as they would be too concerned about what their male friends think of them. It takes a lot of balls for a man to wear a skirt…and quite frankly, most men don’t have them. I do.

Since wearing skirt, I have discovered that most of my female friends will often comment on what I am wearing. It certainly get me noticed. So while you guys are busy dressing to impress other guys, I appear to be impressing the ladies. And believe me, it is working.

I’m a man, I’m English, I live in an industrial city in northern England. I have worn skirts openly in public for at least 15 years. I can and do wear skirts anywhere I wish including in my work place – currently as a university lecturer and also in my previous job as a government department research scientist.

Never, ever, not once, in all that time have I had any adverse comment or criticism from anyone whatsoever, concerning my clothing choices.

I am not gay (not that it is any business of anyone’s); I am happily married, with grown-up children. My wife fully supports my fashion choices.

Skirt-wearing men are not often seen, but there are quite a few of us around, just getting on with it quietly, because that’s what we like to do. I think the latest H&M mens’ skirt is very smart and I will be on the look out for one.

I am appalled by the narrow-minded, hateful, ignorant bigotry shown by the majority of posters on this thread. I think it just demonstrates their own insecurity and their inability to conceive of anything slightly different outside their own small-minded, insular and violent environment.

Putting on a skirt will not make your balls drop off nor the world come to an end. If you yourself don’t want to wear a skirt, then don’t. No-one is forcing you. But for goodness sake grow up and let us have an end to this ridiculous manufactured indignation and nastiness towards those of us that have sufficient free-thinking ability to be creative in what we wear and who are not afraid to stand apart from your dinosaur-brained herd mentality.

I’m a straight guy, married with kids. I’m big – I work out with weights and people don’t mess with me. I would no more think of crossdressing than I’d think of sawing off my leg. I wouldn’t dream of wearing an ear-ring, carrying a “man bag” or wearing any kind of cosmetics because I find them far too girly.

However, skirts are a different matter entirely. The notion that the ONLY thing a man can wear is two cloth tubes, one per leg, is ridiculously restrictive. Frankly, I get bored with just having the option of pants, pants or pants, so I welcome the development of something else. So long as any skirt is cut in a masculine way, and worn with manly stuff, what’s the problem? On a warm summer’s day, a sarong beats shorts for comfort every time (try one!).

There was a time when women were limited to dresses, but they had the sense to challenge that, and they were right and brave to do so. Now it’s time for men to show the same guts, and I appreciate H&M for having the guts to market skirts for guys.

To those who think that trousers make you MORE masculine you should look to the scientific studies that prove that the wearing of pants actually DECREASES your virility. A study of population decline in Scotland found that since men there were adapting western ways of dress (wearing pants) it had caused a increase of genital temps by 2 degrees celcius thus making the mens seemen LESS viable (useless or dead). It was also linked to increases of testicular (balls) and prostrate cancers. So go ahead, wear your trousers and when the doctor has to cut it out or off you will know who to blame YOURSELF>

No bossi, it’s not just common sense, it is more. Since 1868 women moving on a path calling equality, since 1923 they have a party which follows their goals. On the other hand, since end of the Second War of Independence (1815) men do not move, standing still just on one place, in pants.
Now some men finally go out and try new things, i.e. wearing skirts and dresses but alwys try to find an excuse why they want to wear skirts.
For what? Just do it, that is the way! Do men have to ask somebody? No! Do men criticizing women’s cloth and fashion? No! So, is that the new way of “equality” or better inequality, measuring with double standards?

I am sorry that I can’t follow such vocabulary that I would say a man wearing a skirt must be gay or something else. I am confident and man enough enough to wear a skirt whenever I like and I can show my masculinity through it, and I am not so fragile that I can’t show up in public with it.

For all which produced the garbage without any ability to think, should read that, then they would know what is a “real” and manly man.
