Michael Vick’s story is a tragedy. Here is a man that has natural athletic prowess and was well paid for it. Michael made more money in one year than most of us will make in an entire working career of 40 years. Yet he CHOSE to squander his good luck, his money and his reputation for some cheap titillating thrill of dog fighting. He CHOSE to spend his money on cars, houses, women (child support), drugs and dog fighting.

After all of this, he will have nothing to show for it. He’ll have to pick himself up and start all over again. Next time, if there is a next time…….we hope he’ll be smarter.

He’s too rare a commodity not to get out and get another huge contract. If the NFL is paying him $100 mil. contracts think about how much they are making off of him.

I don’t feel sorry for him…I believe he deserved to be punished…but I feel 23 months is way too long for such a crime. He was wrong, stupid, etc., etc…but, c’mon, I say by year end he needs to be released. You have murders running the streets that got off.

i think his punishment has been far too harsh, but that’s what happens when you get involved in that sort of thing. hopefully he can come back.

Thats sad for one reason. This dude did not rape anyone (R.Kelly) did not murder anyone (NYPD/Sean Bell) and he is spending time in jail for dog fighting. A crime that is definately heinous but not as horrible as the aboved mentioned. To me he was used as a pawn, they made an example out of him and that isnt fair. Now this dude has been shun from the league & shun by the public when I feel like drunk driving is a worser crime than this.. i.e.. all these Hollywood folk get away with. Now dont get me wrong people & Peta, I believe that its despicable and I also feel that murdering innocent animals can lead to other heinous acts because most killers start out killing animals BUT… did he deserve all that time compared to more serious crimes taht have been committed, NO! He’ll probably get a short term deal in the $10-$20 mil range. The owner of the Falcons even said he would welcome him back. All depends on whether the state of Virginia presses seperate charges.

The conviction may be for dogfighting but he was targeted for being in an upperclass neighborhood. The investigation began with drug accusations. We know how that goes.

@ Somer… where have you been boo?? Vick has given back to his community. He helped the Boys and Girls Club get equipment for the kids so that they could have equipment there to play with. He also bought uniforms for kids because their parents couldn’t afford them. He gave out turkeys and stuff during Thanksgiving as well. Do your research, of course the media doesn’t want to portray him as someone that has a heart, they want him to appear as a “hardened thug or criminal”.

Michael Vick lost everything because of his stupidity. The money that he was making was more than enough to enhance the quality of life for his family for a few generations to come. He just ruined so much. I feel that he is a moron.

2cute4u, you’re on late I usually see your posts top of the morning or afternoon. I read in the AJC today that they are using some of Vick’s dogs for some type of therapy for people that have cancer and other diseases. Good thing the gods are being useful instead of being put down.

I think Mike will play again. He is young. A few months back I heard he entered a rehab program to reduce his sentence from 23months to 12 months. If that is true, he should be out this fall. That would be 2 season’s that he missed. Brett Favre’s backup been sitting on the bench for 3yrs. Someone will take a chance on Vick. The Raiders will sign anyone.

I hope Michael Vick’s gets gangraped repeatedly in jail until his anus is the size of a grapefruit. Then, on the day he is released from prison, I hope he falls down and injures himself so badly that he can never play sports again. Then I hope his dumbass ends up homeless and living in a box. And that’s not enough punishment for what that sick bastard did to those dogs.

Exactly man. Some people look at these damn dogs like children which i will never understand. My daughter is more important than ANYONE in my family let alone some damn dogs. People who have committed crimes against children are walking but this guy gets locked up? Dont get me wrong, it was absolutely stupid for him to get involved in this activity but the punishment is severely outweighing the crime.

I’m tired of the law behaving as if these animals are human beings. I’ve seen mothers who give birth to babies and then proceed to dump them in the trash and leave them left to die and receive less jail time. Pedophiles recive less jail time for molesting children. I think that he was made as a scapegoat. I think he should of received no more than 6 months. Pitbulls are vicious animals and are not equivalent to human beings.

He is broke because he did not generated enough income to cover his debts for the next 2 years that he remains in prison. This is exactly what the district attorney and the judge wanted. They hate to see a successful, rich person of color. I hope he has learned his lesson and play for the NFL when his sentence is up.
