Hey! Leave the pearls alone! I love pearls, both real and faux. She happens to wear Carolee, an EXPENSIVE (in my opinion) line of faux pearl jewelry, but it’s very popular. The first set of those I had was a gift from a bride whose wedding I was in.
And pearls are timeless. I have all kinds in different colors and lengths. My boyfriend hates them, but when I wear something different, he always asks where they are..

I will have to agree with you on that one. I think a lot of our black men just have their priorities out of order. Instead of putting in the time and effort it takes to be a role model for not only our own children, but children of the world, some would rather spend that time chasing women. At the end of the day, Barack is a prime example of a wholesome black man who knows whats important in life…and it ain’t rims, clothes, jewelry or having multiple women. I always say, if you want a “Michelle Obama” or a strong, black woman in your corner, you have to be a strong black man. Lead by example. You act like a hoe, and you gon attract hoes. No self respecting woman will stay with a man that doesn’t respect himself, let alone her. .

Due to dropping out of college when I was young and full of myself, I will not be attending the convention in Denver. I have a conference to go to in Cali in September, and an overseas wedding, so I’ll be using my vacation time for that, and missing school for those events.
HOWEVER: I know someone who may be working at the stadium and on the DNC events committee, if she can get tickets, my mom and I are flying up Wednesday to try to attend the speech. Even if I have to take a red eye, I’ll be in the stadium going crazy.
And yes, I did go to the Texas convention. It sucked after the first day, but I was still able to see democracy in action.

No matter what happens with the election, the one thing I am hoping is that young blacks look at this family & realize that being smart, educated and dressing professional doesn’t equate to “ACTING WHITE”. I just got caught a glimpse of Baldwin Hills on BET. All the kids are from upper middle cl***** homes with the exception of one girl. I can’t get over how the token hood rat on the show went back to her hood & talked about the other kids like there was something wrong with them cause they speak proper english & don’t dress and dance like hoes. She joked that she needed a dictionary to understand them. She was so busy putting them down that she didn’t realize that she was the one looking stupid.
I just hope the dynamics to change cause right now *****s are out numbering blacks. Maybe the Obama family will make more people want to be blacks & not *****s.

That is true, but you can’t generalize all black women because not all of us want the “bad guys”. Sometimes we find out later in the relationship that he was just a wolf in sheep’s clothing (as are some women, this goes for all). Pretending he was all wholesome and family oriented and turns out that fool got beacoup babies, and baby momma’s, that he not only don’t *****ociate with, that boy don’t even mention them. But they pretend and put on this facade because they all want the “Michelle Obama’s” at home waiting for them to stop hoeing in the streets. Men are supposed to represent the “head of household”, shyt, lead by example. And then maybe, just maybe, the black woman can learn to be submissive. I’m not fina submit myself to no fool ***** man. I see you screwing up and about to ruin my life and yours, oh trust, I will speak up. So you can call me loud or whatever you want, I bet you won’t call me *****ody’s fool. And I think thats why a lot of black women get stereotyped as being objective, loud, ghetto…we just can’t sit back quietly and watch the “man” screw up just for the sake of allowing him to feel like a man.

The Texas Two Step process is convoluted, and it’s confuses everyone, even the volunteers who *****isted in the process. It awards delegates at both levels (primary and caucus). I’m no expert on the who’s, why’s and how’s of it all, but I’m just going off what I know and what I parti*****ted in.
This process is only on the Democrats’ side, the Republicans just primary and they’re done. The first step is to vote in the Primary. To do this, you must be registered to vote as a Democrat. I’m an Independent who chose to switch so I could be a part of this. You can vote early in the Primary, but on the official Primary night (when the results are televised), you have to stay afterwards to parti*****te in the Caucus.
The Caucus is what allowed Obama to break even with Clinton in Texas. The Caucus is a “hand raise” type vote. When the polls close for the primary, you stay behind to list your preference for candidate. Because of the overwhelming number of voters who turned out to Primary and Caucus, a lot of our voting precincts (districts) ended up with their results being “challenged” (mostly by the Clinton camp) because people felt the process was distorted or they weren’t given a fair chance to stay for the vote. My credentials (access to Caucus) were challenged at almost every level.
We Caucus in our voting precincts, then you’re chosen as a delegate to go on to your Senatorial District Convention. We get there (on another day) and caucus again, this time to confirm our precincts results and bring issues to the floor for the Texas Democratic party. This process took place on a Saturday, and many districts did not convene until after midnight (for us, it was just shy of 2am). At the Senatorial District Convention, you chose your delegates to go to the State Democratic Convention. For this one, I gave up my nomination to be chosen as a delegate because my precinct had so many people who wanted to be picked, I was going to go regardless. I ended up being an Alternate Delegate At Large (fancy term for *****ody).
Once you are confirmed at your Senatorial District’s level, you then go on to the Texas Democratic Convention to confirm everything you did at the Senatorial District’s level, and bring forth the issues that we’ll take to the National Party. Because I was an alternate, I technically couldn’t vote in Austin, but I was still able to attend and get onto the main floor where the votes were taking place. At our state convention, we then choose our National Delegates for the National Convention.
That is pretty much the best way I can describe it. I could go on for hours with everything that happens in between. They’re working on getting the Caucus half of it eliminated, which I have learned never bothered anyone until this election. This is the first time the majority of voters in Texas parti*****ted in this, and I saw the ugly side of a lot of local and state politicians. They were so used to their cronies going down and having all of the say, and now you have m***** droves of black people coming out to parti*****te. I believe this system was created to disenfranchise poor voters that they thought wouldn’t turn out, and they were shocked by the parti*****tion level. I have to look up the history of it, but it’s not an old system, I believe it started in the 80s. Obama worked it like a pro, Clinton’s campaign chose to ignore it until it was too late.
I know the Clinton camp was relying on us (minorities, poor, pretty much everyone) not showing up for the Caucus, so she didn’t send out much encouraging her people to go (I get e-mails from both campaigns, I like to see what everyone is saying, including McCain). Because she didn’t have enough people who stayed after the primary to Caucus for her, she didn’t have enough supporters at any of the conventions. The Clinton campaign sent out instructions to her people on how to protest our credentials at each level (Senatorial and State), which held up the conventions. They also tried to take legal action to stop the Caucus from even happening.
This election season has been an amazing learning process for Democratic voters in Texas, and I look forward to always parti*****ting, even if I go back to being a registered Independent. I can still go to these conventions and hold signs for my candidate of choice.

I like Obama not that it really matters. I don’t like what his wife was wearing nor what the cute girls were wearing. I did not like the girls hair either. The little ones looked unkempt. She needed some bows, conditioning balm. Both girls and the mother should have had a nice summer dresses or nice shorts sets with coordinated shirts.

I appreciate your “expectations” of a good husband. Now, what are your “expectations” of a good wife? I think this is where the trouble lies. I agree with a lot of the things you say. Submissive women are valued in most cultures. The thing is that I, and I’m sure a lot of women would agree, have no problem being submissive to the right man. If I feel like my man is all that and taking care of business, has my best interest at heart, baby, lead and trust me I will follow. I think what a lot of men fail to realize is that deep down inside women do want to be guided and led. We want to feel like our man is the bread winner, he’s the king. And we can happily play his queen. We can and will cater to you because we are nurturers at heart anyway. It when he’s not exhibiting those characteristics that define a strong, smart, trustworthy man, when we have a hard time keeping silent. Its like you want to demand that respect from your woman, but respect has to be earned baby. I can’t respect a man that puts his selfish ways ahead of his family, his children, his woman, even his own mother. I can’t respect you if you’re sitting on your ***** instead of hustling (and not meaning illegally) but hustling like busting your ***** to do what you have to do to make sure your family is well taken care of. So what if it means you don’t get to floss, you can’t buy those rims you want for your car, you can’t have the latest gadgets, you can’t wear the best clothes. Of course I want my man with the best, but shouldn’t his first priority as “head of household” be that his family has the best. I think if a lot more men had that attitude, women, in general would start behaving like that female they desire. We won’t talk back, we won’t get loud, we won’t make you feel small. But its when men don’t behave like they should, when women feel like we have to step in and take control.
