The word “fierce” needs to be retired. As for Tyra, she annoys me because BEFORE she gained the weight herself she was not championing big girls. Believe that. She would tell girls on her show that they were getting chunky and need to lose 5 or 10 pounds. She did that to Keenya. It’s definitely true that to be a model you need to have a certain look (especially a high fashion model), but c’mon Ty-Ty. Now that Tyra faced public humiliation following her weight gain (even though she has now lost a lot of that weight) she decides to that she should be the advocate for chunkier girls.

Well, at least it seems like she is sticking to her resolutions even now that she has lost a lot of weight. The message that EVERYONE should hear is live a healthy lifestyle. Eat right. Hit the gym. Your body and mind will only thank you for it.

moving on, it doesn’t matter what big girl wins this competition, there is no market for them in the high fashion industry. They will likely get some ads for Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, etc. Then they may get a makeup deal….maybe…but a long-term lucrative future in the high fashion industry is not in the cards for fat girls…I wish it was but it isn’t…these designers have NO intentions of changing…

I feel you also but in the instance I spoke of, people were actually saying crude remarks, there are instances where big people just feel insecure about going…but there are gyms you can attend (Curves for women or Cuts for men) where you can lose weight and not worry about that ‘thin’ element discouraging you! Those options just need to be voiced more often ;=)

My only problem with this Fiercely Real thing is that being 5’9 – 6’1 and a size 12 is not plus size. I just wish people would understand what plus size. Height makes weight look a lot different. If I 5’9 instead of 5’5 I would look a hell of a lot smaller then I do now.
