All of those people you named make a few dollars, but most don’t hold onto it and none of them are on track to become billionaires. According to the Forbes article Tiger is projected to be a billionaire by 2010. He is not one yet. You have never seen Tiger in a chain that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and there has been no word that he has a fleet of cars or other outlandish luxuries that a lot of these guys blow their money on. Forbes said he has investments that net him an 8% return every year. Not everyone can say that. Of the people you named Jay-Z is the only one even trying to do it, but again he lives very luxuriously and that will bite into his progress.

Sorry ya’ll, and I can take the backlash for this statement, Tiger’s accomplishments mean no more to me than, Davis Love III, Roger Federer, Babe Ruth or any other great White athletes. Good for them, I love to see anybody making there money properly, but you see Tiger doesn’t claim us or any part of us. Nothing in his lifestyle reflects an African American Heritage, so I could really care less what he does. He is the whitest white man alive. Seriously, the whitest WHITE man. That is so funny. These guys all have “investments.” Puffy’s Sean John clothing line has won numerous awards and he has turned down offers in the $100 mil range.

Lebron is assured of at LEAST TWO MORE $100 mil dollar contracts. This isn’t including his Nike deal which is a blank check.

Magic Johnson’s wealth is estimated to be between $500-$800 mil (not including ownership in the Lakers). I know that’s a wide difference but Magic is very private and the value on some of his holdings can vary depending on who gives the estimate.

Also, we aren’t comparing “apples to apples.” Magic’s first contract was $25 mil for 25 years in 1980!!!! Jordan’s largest contract from the NBA was $33mil (1996)!!!!!!!!!!!! Jordan never got a $100mil from the NBA!!!

NFL,NBA,MLB owners were hording huge amounts of money. That’s why there were strikes (NBA-1998,MLB-1994, NFL-1982). Unfortunately for Magic and Michael they had already retired (though Jordan came back at the age of 38).

You are right, from a perspective of potential the sky was the limit for Mike Tyson. As a matter of fact he could have easily made 3 times more than jordan. Jordan was limited by the NBA Owners/Union contract on how much he could make. Tyson could make in one fight (depending on who he was fighting) what Jordan made in a year. He never tried to gain any endorsements…

one of the few places blacks have had a “level playing field” for any length of time has been music and sports. Blacks dominate both arenas and glaringy so. Blacks are also quickly taking over fashion. Once given a fair chance at something, blacks dominate.

Had Jordan came around in 2004 instead of 1984 he would be worth MULTI-Billions (or on his way to that)!! He happen to peak in the mid 90′s under a bad contract with the NBA owners and he’s still worth hundreds of millions.

My mom is caramel colored, and me and my sisters are various shades of brown. The point is for all of you who think it’s ok that Tiger refuses to acknowlede his blackness, he is only tricking himself. We all, whites, blacks, asians, everyone of us know that he is black. So many of us are ashamed of this. Oprah is a billionaire, and she never had to disclaim being black. Tiger is a great golfer, the best in the world and probably ever to play the game. He would have been rich and famous regardless, he CHOSE to distance himself from his black heritage. He by the way for those that did not know, sat on Oprah’s show, and when asked what he considered himself, HE came up with the whole CA-BLA-NASIAN. Tiger’s mom is from Thailand and his dad was Black as the ace of spades. I have never seen anyone who is clearly and undeniably Black work so hard to distance themself from the obvious. He can wish it away all day long and twice on Sunday. He will always be Black. To be honest, I’m really surprised at him.
