Looks like Tiger Woods is set to break another record:
Golf icon Tiger Woods in on track to gain the illustrious distinction of becoming the world’s first athlete billionaire. Woods, who won the U.S. Open while playing with a wounded knee last month, could reach $1 billion in career earnings by 2010, according to reports.
“It will be an unprecedented occurrence,” said an article in Forbes’ Wednesday edition. “There are plenty of billionaires who have excelled at sports like Switzerland’s richest man and champion sailor Ernesto Bertarelli. But there are no billionaires who accumulated their fortune by playing sports.”
It’s safe to say that Tiger is taking care of business, and making those corny ass golf folks mad salty in the process.

You have never seen Tiger in a chain that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and there has been no word that he has a fleet of cars or other outlandish luxuries that a lot of these guys blow their money on. Forbes said he has investments that net him an 8% return every year. Not everyone can say that. Of the people you named Jay-Z is the only one even trying to do it, but again he lives very luxuriously and that will bite into his progress.

That is so funny. These guys all have “investments.” Puffy’s Sean John clothing line has won numerous awards and he has turned down offers in the $100 mil range.

Magic Johnson’s wealth is estimated to be between $500-$800 mil (not including ownership in the Lakers). I know that’s a wide difference but Magic is very private and the value on some of his holdings can vary depending on who gives the estimate.
Also, we aren’t comparing “apples to apples.” Magic’s first contract was $25 mil for 25 years in 1980!!!! Jordan’s largest contract from the NBA was $33mil (1996)!!!!!!!!!!!! Jordan never got a $100mil from the NBA!!!

Jordan was limited by the NBA Owners/Union contract on how much he could make. Tyson could make in one fight (depending on who he was fighting) what Jordan made in a year. He never tried to gain any endorsements…
