These people are human beings. The have the same stress and problems that everyone has. They are not icons their father and mother was. I am sure that in the end everything will work itself out. There are probably mediators stepping as we type.

Unfortunately, this occurs within families that run non-profit organizations. That happened here in Texas with the Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation (the people behind Sesame Street). It was so sad to read about, but I’m glad they’re holding him to scrutiny instead of just letting him spend it all away.

I always did think Dexter was the least responsible one out of the 4. I remember years ago he was presuing acting. I was like WTF. I guess Hollywood didn’t kick down his door. I can not believe he was estate’s administrator. He should have been last in line for that position.

Nothin short of crazy..2 years ago the finest celebration of life and tv event i have ever seen happened to be “Coretta Scott Kings funeral”…It was a celebration of the fine work we all can achieve if we become self-less…These kids know better not to put their family business out in the open. I believe something more damaging has happened which is why this is gone public. Dexter might be on some drugs or alcohol or completely ego-trippin for the siblings to slap a law-suit..

A $4 million house in Malibu can hardly be classified as a mansion. A 2-bedroom fixer upper with a caved in roof would run you a couple million there.

I guess was Coretta was keeping them together and keeping the peace. Hopefully they will remember what was taught to them by their mother and their father.

The family recently sold a lot of there fathers original speeches and videos for a reported 32mil. So I would say yes you will start to see the family acting a damn fool over this money. Its sad too because there will only be on Dr. King and they don’t make men like him anymore!!

Thats sad.. Im glad Mrs. King isnt alive to see this. It reminds me of Soul Food when the mother dies, and also their big sister who probably became the matriach fo the family passed. I just hope they realize with all the misfortunes that occured in their family they can overcome this shallow situation.

I hope that they have the wherewith all and the good sense to get an appropriate mediator involved so that the King legacy won’t turn into a big shameful joke!!!

Dexter was always about himself. When I used to live in the ATL, he was always out in the v.i.p. with whatever hoochie available. I remember when he left to be an ‘actor’, he didn’t do anything to help his mom or siblings. He was the main one wanting him mom to sell Dr. King’s papers. It was the movers and shakers in ATL that put up the money to get the papers sold to a group that inturn donated the papers to Morehouse. He’s a money hungry man. They were going to have to sue his ass to find out the truth.

Dexter King pays $4.16M for one Malibu house, lists another for $3.495 million

Dexter King, who is the son of the late civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King and who now is the chairman of the Atlanta-based King Center, has paid $4.16 million for a 6,823-square-foot house in Malibu and has listed another, 4,705-square-foot house in Malibu for $3.495 million.

They have been fighting over money for years because the Kings are not rich by no means. Other than Martin King, III, they don’t have “real” jobs and need to get off of their shiftless asses and stop trying to cash-in on Dr. Kings cash-strapped Center. Yolanda was an “actress, director, and producer”, Dexter had an “entertainment production company”, and Bernice is a “minister”. Umm, Ok.

The King Center is where all the assets are, and why they are fighting to receive some of the pie. Mrs. Coretta didn’t even have enough money to purchase a home–damn shame. This is why Jesse and Al are Shake Em Down pimps because there is no money in activism/civil rights.

Actually, Coretta did own a home in Atlanta. The home that she and Dr. King owned when he was alive. It was just in a rough area of Atlanta. Oprah bought her a penthouse because she said that a woman of Coretta’s Status should not have been living in a home like that. It was a well kept very old home but it was in the HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!

I had issues with them when they put their father’s papers up for sale and when one of the son’s nearly sank the King Center. This is just shameful. Their parents deserve so much more than this. They’re suing because dexter controls all of MLK’s speeches and his image, thats global and worth alot of money. Look at dexter’s two houses in malibu!
