She was the ONLY cute one up there! I was fully shocked at how the contest has changed so much within the past 5 years or so. The quality of girls was not at a high standard this year and Miss VA did her thing. She is BEAUTIFUL and I pray that the Media dosent tear her down.

The girl is pretty. Not because she’s light or looks like Beyonce. Why can’t people celebrate her achievement? At least it’s one more role model for us. Educated, articulate and doing something positive.

I am very disappointed in some of the vulgar comments made on this topic. Black beauty comes in all shades and I don’t thing being dark is a litmus test of beauty or blackness. That being said, for all those people who don’t think pageants are worth anything. I was in a show with a young lady from Howard U, who was raised by a single parent and was trying to win the Miss America title to get scholarship money for college. She entered Ms. Maryland three times and lost to white contestants. Interestingly there was a van outside congratulative one contestant before they had announced the winner (i.e. fixed). After that she gave up. But a lot of young women compete for money for college, not just to be in media. (But that helps).

What do you mean east africans have white feature, those are african features. i have never seen a white person with the beauty of an east african. Just because a lot of them don’t have wide noses does not make the features european a look at the pyramid walls and ancient sculptures the features have not changed or been corrupted by white genes.

Hmmm…this may be random BUT I think that beauty pageants should ban the entrance of anyone who has had plastic surgery for STRICTLY COSMETIC PURPOSES. (Not insinuating that the girl above has had any – she doesn’t look like she has tampered with the plastic at all). However, for pageants like Miss Universe, many of those contestants have had LARGE QUANTITIES of plastic surgery or at least one procedure done. I don’t think that pageants should represent beauty that was purchased. The exaggerated quantities of makeup, weave, and veneers are bad enough. Plastic surgery winners just makes a mockery of the whole thing.
