Bey Bey Gets 6 Grammys and Sets New Record

Beyonce took home 6 Grammys out of 10 last night at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. She has now set the record for the most awards won by a female artist in one night in the whole 52 years of Grammy history.

Song of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),”
Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Halo,”
Best Female R&B Performance for “Single Ladies,”

Best Contemporary R&B Album for I Am… Sasha Fierce

While I don’t like Beyonce, I’ll congratulate her on her record-breaking Grammy night. Hell, at least a black artist won it.

For those wondering why she won for songs released in 2008, it’s because her album came out LATE in 2008, past the Grammy deadline, so she couldn’t be nominated in 2009. It was a smart move on her part because she had all of 2009 to inundate the masses with her music so that she could be nominated for the 2010 awards.

Everyone is sitting here comparing other artists to Beyonce but the truth is she is MORE than a good voice and a pretty face. The force that she packs on stage has yet to be duplicated by any artist of today. The ability to switch musical genres from pop, to r&b/hiphop, to soul, to broadway, to jazz, to rock, etc.. and (more importantly) do them all WELL is incredible. And to do all this effortlessly commanding a stage while singing and dancing… WHO else besides Beyonce?! I’ll wait….

any artist who’s father is on the Grammy voting board, and has the money to influence voters, as well as a husband who has the same money and influence, can win 6 Grammys in one night. this is not an achievement. this is a blatant display of industry politics and BS. Maxwell had one of the best R&B albums to come out in YEARS. Whitney Houston staged a stellar comeback with an album that’s still selling well worldwide. yet they reward this girl just because she made a video that 100,000 pathetic queens and tired trannys imitated on youtube. The Grammys is no longer about talent and music. it’s about power and money. and taking advantage of the stupidity of the american public. this was all orchestrated to upstage the big year that Taylor Swift had, who was the biggest selling female artist of the year, and that was BEFORE the kanye incident. and this is all evident in the fact that Taylor Swift won the big award of the night, the only award that’s ever remembered when it comes to the Grammys.
