Oscar-winning actor Terrence Howard almost destroyed his acting career before it starting, the star has revealed. The “Crash” actor recently shared a story about his first acting gig with the legendary “Cosby Show” in 1988.
“I was 19 and had just moved to New York from Cleveland, I got on The Cosby Show on my second audition ever,” Howard describes.
The actor was let down to find out that the scenes he taped were cut from the final show. He was reportedly so angry that he confronted the show’s star and producer Bill Cosby.
He explains, “I told him, ‘I’m a man just like you.’ He didn’t like it, and the casting agent never took my calls again.”
Howard claims that Cosby blacklisted him because of the incident. The young actor didn’t work for four years, but finally managed to recover. He now has a successful acting career, which includes a Academy Award for his role in “Hustle & Flow.”

It all depends on how he really stepped to Bill. If he did it in a disrespectable manner, then its understandable that the word would get out that people shouldnt work with him. You have to wait until you make it to act a fool. That goes for any job.

Terrence is a talented to actor. He could play any role convincingly.
He should have kept that previous incident to himself though, or at least not said any names.

I agree with you 100% Terrance Howard used to be one of my favorites until he changes and started acting like a stuck up punk. He was really funny in I think it was “Best Man” or whichever movie that was when he was the funniest and best actor in the whole movie. He makes me wanna changed the channel when I see his arrogant ***** now a days.
I think Bill Cosby has better things to do than try to ruin a 19 year old’s career. The casting agent probably decided on his own that the kid (wonder if he was full of black/self-hate then) wasn’t worth the trouble.
Why is he talking about this mess? And why did he take it so personal? Maybe his scenes weren’t funny enough. Maybe once the editing was done it was determined there was not enough time for his part so it was cut. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bill can be a trip at time but the man didn’t have to be disrespected cause TH felt like throwing a fit.

Terrence Howard DID not…I repeat…DID NOT win an Academy Award. He was NOMINATED but he DID NOT WIN. Whoever wrote this story needs be fired for all the typos and false information.

Was he not aware that many actors get their scenes cut without notice. It was very immature of him to approach Bill Cosby in such a hostile manner.
Transfer this behaviour to a corporate setting in any type of industry and people get fired. So basically, Terrance was fired and couldn’t find work for four years because he berated his boss.
This should be a lesson to all those who don’t realize that there’s a professional way to handle any dissapointment. Terrance should have asked Cosby why his scenes were cut and what as an actor he could have done better to ensure that it didn’t happen in the future. He was dealing with a very successful black man who had spearheaded a very successful black-family-themed that didn’t pander to white racists. Terrance could have received valuable advice from Bill Cosby. Even if he didn’t follow the advice or accept it as valid it’s still another way to look at a situation from someone elses’ view-especially the boss’ view.

At 19yrs, you have the *****ing ***** to approach the most powerful man on tv (at that time) about scenes being cut and this was just your 2nd audition. Most people have 25 auditions before they land a role on a damn commercial. Terrance stupid ***** landed a role on Cosby. Instead of making connections, he made enemies. It’s likely he would’ve still not worked 4 years even if the Cosby incident hadn’t happened, considering what a no name 19 year old he was with no connections.
Terrance used to be the best thing in a low budget black movie, but now that he got a few accolades he think he’s the biz…but he just a coon punk now!!

You can bet your ***** that every producer on that show that witnessed his bull***** mad absolutely sure they called any and everyone and told them about his attitude. You suck it up, There are people who have been waiting for years to catch a break…hell even a line or two and he lucked up on his second audition. And then had the nerve to jump up in Mr. Cosby’s face? Well Mr. Howard, you should have apologized and remembered that Mr. Cosby worked his ***** OFF to get to where he’s at. Nothing was handed to him the second time around.
