Melyssa Ford is keeping her acting career afloat by creating new projects for herself, including an upcoming play called “For Vixens Who Have Considered Homicide When The Video Became Too Much”. Sounds crotchy-licious! Pop the hood for more!

At the Belvedere Lounge in Miami for Superbowl, Melyssa Ford discusses her role in “Good Hair,” and reveals details about her upcoming play that she’s been working on for the past year. “When I saw Jim Jones play I was really inspired by it… and so that night I had to meet the director/writer/producer of the play… and we created a theatrical experience based on my life for the last 10 years in the industry, and it’s called “For Vixens Who Have Considered Homicide When the Video Became Too Much.”

Melyssa confesses that she’ll be singing and dancing in her upcoming play and then drops details about the reality show she has with Elise Neal and Claudia Jordan. “51 Minds bought the show, so did VH1. We shot the pilot, myself Elise Neal and Claudia Jordan. I just saw a cut of the first episode and I was blown away… it wasn’t even mastered and it looked amazing.”

Great, just what we need — another reality show full of video girls and out of work actresses. SMH at Melyssa being “inspired” by Jim Jones and an even bigger SMH at her ripping off the title from a REAL play (“For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enuf)!

    I mean damn. Give a person a break sometimes!!! The title is questionable, but at least she is setting goals and accomplishing them. Her and Jim can’t be artists? I didn’t see Jim’s play, but I can at least appreciate them wanting to do stage. it is the original poetry in motion, one of the first arts. While i would have commended an approach other than their personal lives, it’s totally out of the box and I love it. As far as the reality show goes, I think it will be entertaining. They are attractive girls, black, and come from different backgrounds and they are entertainers seeking some sort of stardom. It’ll probably be funny too. And we as people love comedy. Dont even front. If you know what “The Flavor of Love” is, you will be tuning in to VH1. LOL!
