Ain’t This About A B*tch? American Airlines Joins Carriers Who Charge For A Pillow And Blanket!!!

- By Bossip Staff Categories: For Your Information, News

As if we weren’t already being a*s-raped with service fees, taxes, charges for checked baggage and oh yeah, snacks… Now airlines want us to pay for in-flight pillows and blankets. Pop the hood for more.

American Airlines is joining Jet Blue and US Air in charging for the basic necessities to getting a lil’ shuteye and keeping warm.

The Fort Worth-based carrier said Monday that it will take the free red blankets out of its coach section on all North American flights as of May 1. On flights of more than two hours, passengers in coach can buy a blanket and pillow for $8.

“We evaluate all aspects of our business, and we have to make sure that decisions like this are prudent and strategic for the long-term success of our company,” American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said Monday. “As a result, we’re removing the blankets and pillows from selected flights.”

The new policy applies to coach passengers on flights to the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, she said. The airline will still provide pillows and blankets at no extra cost in first class and business class and to all passengers to other international destinations.

The $8 will buy a passenger a blue fleece blanket, an inflatable neck pillow and a coupon good for $10 off a Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. purchase of at least $30, all contained in a clear, zippered pouch, Huguely said.

JetBlue Airways Corp. and US Airways Inc. already offer $7 kits to passengers who want a blanket and pillow.

This is outrageous — we understand everyone is feeling the strain of the recession but cotdamn, can we live? These airlines are making it damn near impossible to enjoy a flight anymore!!!

I personally don’t see a problem with it! I always carry my own anyway because who wants to use a blanket & pillow that someone else just used?

So, instead of charging the people that make the most, & are having their filghts paid by their companies, you charge the “little people?” How does that make sense!?

ANYONE who uses a pillow & blanket given to them on a commercial airline truly deserves the head lice, crabs and whatever else there is, festering in those blankets. YUCK!

Bring a jacket and wear some jeans. Save 7 bucks. They will be charging us to use the restroom before long.

All it does is give me yet another reason to stay away from American Airlines.

I always bring my own, they ain’t charging me extra for nothing…

  • MissyT

Some of you people are idiots. When you go to a hotel do you bring your own blanket and pillows?
Worse things happen on hotel pillows and blankets than on airlplane blankets, yet I KNOW you still use the ones at hotels.

Do u know how much C** and bodily crap are on those hotel pillows. Trying to act like you’re sooooo smart bringing your own blankie on a plane. Dumb ass.

Why are they still even charging for bags? I mean for real? That supposedly occured because of the price of gas. Now gas has been under $3.00 for over a year (almost year and a half) and they are still charging. And the same daxn fees?
