“Before I converted to Christianity, I was a Jehovah’s Witness. In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn’t even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference.”
And apparently she thinks Barbara Walters need divine intervention too:
“Oh sometimes I say, ‘Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved.’”

Her point is that although she was supposed to be a Jehovahs Witness she still engaged in sinful activity (including abortion) BECAUSE of her low self esteem.
Christians aren’t supposed to believe in abortion either and having 500 abortions is no more/no less sin than having 1 abortion. Also the Bible does not way sin as a tit for tat. So according to the Bible abortion is no more sinful than envy, lust or lying. Abortion is no more sin than murder, cheating on your taxes or coveting your neighbors spouse.
Also when you are healed in Jesus, you are not ashamed any longer of past sins, because YOU KNOW God has forgiven ALL of your sins. Whether that sin was being promiscous, having 1 abortion or 15, lying once or a million times. FORGIVENESS covers it all.

I’ll be in the minority on this one. I believe its actually good that she put this information out. Note, she said used to, at some point she got a clue and got her stuff together. A lot of women experience her pitfalls, maybe those still down can gleam some hope knowing that they can make it through too. It’s no different than what Mary J. Blige does with her music. Don’t let your disdain for her demeanor overshadow the fact she overcame her demons–that should be applauded.

Why persecute the woman for her past. Being a jehovah witness by no means makes a perfect human being. It is immoral to judge a person. Jehovah witnesses twist the scriptures to suit their cult like ways. The are invasive, intrusive, and their are plenty immoral people in the kingdom hall. Wolves in sheeps clothing I might add.
You are showing inappropriate behavior by backbiting this woman who has suffered a tremondous ordeal. Jehovah witnesses are a man made religion with distorted views. They ostracize, shun and judge others harshly who have sins and shortcomings. The next time you decide to judge others you need to sit down and meditate on god’s word that you so called stand by. Judge ye not lest not be judged.

You are an imperfect human being with flaws. I am sure you have sinned as we all have. Jehovah Witnesses are not free of sin. They fear man. Not god. When they sin, they confess it to the elders in the kingdom hall. They let man decide whether or not if they are repentant. They shame them and announce in the kingdom hall in front of all, that the man or woman who fell short is disfellowshipped or reproved. Disfellowship means that you can not speak or even say hello to them. Reprove means you can speak to them but they can not comment or you can not *****ociate with that person.
Only god knows when a person is sorry for their sinful acts. Only god knows when that person is continuing with their illicit acts or sinful ways. They are flawed human beings who claim to be righteous men because they are baptised as a jehovah witness. Only god knows the righteous and the wicked. Only god knows the wolves form the sheep. A Man has no spiritual authority over any other human being. When we sin we suffer the consequences of our behavior. God gave no man authority to belittle and shame someone into obedience.
Because of all of those abortions she had, I wonder if that’s the reason she had so much trouble conceiving her son. He was conceived by IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) and was a preemie.
I agree sherry should of made no mention of juanita bynum or the other woman. They fall short of the glory of god as well. Really she should have kept that to herself. It doesn’t have anything to do with religion or judgment but screams this is a person that lacks self control. That is not judgment. When you announce to the world something like “having so many abortions you can’t count them”, a little critical thinking should say this is someone with little self control. Just like when you see someone fat or on drugs. It does too say something about the persons character which is something you better be able to read if you are going to get in a relationship, friendship, or even do business with them. Black folks just excuse every dern thing. There are brothers disguising themselves as righteous men that are doing these things in the knigdomhall. You just don’t know it, only god knows their hearts and what they do in the dark. Just because they are baptised witnesses don’t be misled by them. Greed, fornicators idolaters and aldulterers are in every place of worship. The bible does not say to confess it to humans and shame them. The scriptures make no mention of that. That is the elders way of controlling the congregation. they are in fear that their name will be announced and people will stop speaking to them. Man should fear god not man. You will reap what you sow when you do these acts. Only god knows what they do and he knows when they are truly repentant, not the elders. Some elders ministerial servants, and followers are engaging in sinful acts as well. They also give speaches, and parti*****te in field service and every other meeting and activity. It amazes me how jehovah witnesses think that being immersed in water means that they are righteous humans free from sin. They beleive they are they only true religion and are in god’s favor. How sad. This is brainwashing. I have seen deplorable, unspeakable behavior from jehovah’s witnesses not only just from family members. A public lynching will not correct them, only our lord and savior can.

I have heard many comments about this woman, but it makes me wonder how many people on this blog have actually had abortions, or promiscuious relationships, probably everyone on this blog has gone through half or maybe more than the things she has mentioned. So what it comes down to is a bunch of lame unrealistic mother *****ers tryin to call somebody on something most people are to ashamed to tell. The woman has redeemed herself, and she just wants to share her experiences. She is not the first to do any of these things, and she won’t be the last. As far as the kingdomhall and jehovahs witness’, they are the worst kind. The elders condemn women for having sex or getting pregnant, but you never hear anything about the men. The women are shun and made to feel low, but they never mention the men. You want to know why, because in that religion the men have no fault. Half the time its the elders who knock the young girls up, so please be careful about what you say concerning other people. Shady ***** happens everyday, and just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Walk a mile in someones shoes before speaking.
I have to side with Talia on the JW thing. I have a very close friend who is a witness, and I’ve been researching and studying them for years. I’ve seen men and women of all ages being banned from their church until they get their stuff together, and I don’t believe it’s right. I know Catholics will excommunicate you, but they’re PERMANENTLY putting you out, not putting you down and shaming you in front of everyone so you have to GROVEL to come back. Because that’s all you’re doing to come back. I watched her and her family go through things they shouldn’t have gone through, and she admits she made a mistake, as did her husband and the family, but when you’re down, shouldn’t someone be there to support you?
I almost converted in high school and saw so many things wrong and spoke up about it. HUGE MISTAKE. I had kids at school THREATENING me because I was questioning the Watchtower. The fact that the “head” or leading council of your religion is called the Watchtower is scary. No one would answer my questions, they wanted me to take a blind leap and when I’d pray out loud, they’d stop me and try to teach me to properly pray, and the prayers never felt natural or right.
Ja Hillz-why won’t Witnesses not visit churches of other faiths/denominations? I never understood why they came down on me for attending a 1st Sunday service at my Baptist church with my family.
I’m not going to act like I know everything about the Jehovah’s Witnesses, but they know how to take advantage of people when they’re down and put them out when they’re making mistakes and need the support of their church the most.

read o’s comment, your are goin to have to get your questions anwsered face to face by a witness in your area.@ talia. look there are evil people doin evil things everywhere, but when there are unrepentant people doin that in our organization, and it becomes public, or that person reports it. its a matter that we be diliberated by a group of qualified elders like in the the first century. same priciple the apostle paul encouraged is what we imitate, to help a person get back on the right track first. if the the person doesnt what to do that. well jesus christ mentioned that they needed to be treated like the tax collectors. i been around a long time i had @ least 40 friends disfellowshipped my own brother has been reproved. some of them saw the error of their ways turned their lives around back in harmony with the scriptures of a period of time(it takes time to make new habits or change a life course not over night), with the elders checking on them with their progress.then they will be let back in the organization when they have a good enough record of more christian behavior. let me ask u something, if u had someone in your church every sat involved in immoral behavior and crying and asking forgiveness on sun 4 two month straight.(as an example)and everyone knew about what would u think about that person?……………………ok now what if that person was your pastor or deacon or parishineer? would that make that any different because he owns the church? we need to remember JESUS WORDS HELLO 1 Corinthians 5:9-13; 6:9, 10…..ok the question to talia now is why arent the conventional churches doin that?……(because what?) dont start making excuses. give me an anwser, about that pastor or that clergy member.(he owns that church now) oh yeah and on a side note no one owns the kingdom hall as a whole we contribute for the expenses, and everyone works for free(because we want, out of love for our jehovah and our brothers). keep having love among yourselves. because in a world filled with so much darkness sometimes its hard to see the light.
First of all I find it hard to believe that Sherry was a baptized witness. Second Jehovah’s Witnesses are true christians who follow in Jesus Christ footsteps. Unlike other religions who say they are christians but hardly act like it. I’m so tired of people saying they are Jehovah’s Witnesses when they haven’t been baptized. As far as disfellowshipping goes it’s fair. You can’t have people doing anything they want especially when it isn’t in line with bible teaching.

I understand your points. The JW’s take it too far. I had a close married family member who was a baptised witness. She started having an affair. Her husband who was not a member called the elders to tell on her. This family member had stopped going to the meetings for several months. Instead of encouraging her to come back they called her, came to her place of employment several times, came to her home on several occasions asking questions about this affair to gather evidence. They even question 2 of her grown children who were also baptised. They threatened them with disfellowshipping if they did not tell the truth as to what their mother was up to. This sounds like the police and the F.B.I.. Finally her daughter came clean and told the elders what she knew. Since the woman no longer attended the meetings they came to her job to inform her that she was disfellowshipped. This is not bible based.
That is invasive, intrusive behavior. This committee in the kingdom hall were looking for drama and gossip.
talia, when you are baptised as a witness you are making public that you are dedicated to god and are now a witness of jehovah.notice the word public: it means that all may know,that your family member now represents the congregation of jehovah’s witnesses.Once again a person knows all of this ahead time and so did your family member.The bible does not support adultry in any case,your family member know this.talia, think about this;if your family member was having problems in her marriage did she go to the elders to talk with them to recieve encouragment before the affair? also before you can help someone, you need to know whats going on perhaps that why the elders went to such great lenght to contact her.Don’t get it twisted,remember her husband called them.They were not on the prowl trying find something, it was exposed to them .It seems as if she tried to avoid dealing with it.If she is not living as one of jehovah’s witness(in accord with bible standards)then it should be made known thats she as well as any others who would help her carry on this way are nolonger jehovah witnesses.No where in the bible will you find where a person or people who willfully did wrong were not reproved in some way. The congregation has the right to be kept clean.And this talia, is a bible base fact.Maybe your problem is not with jehovah witnesses but with god standards as shown in the holy bible.(isa 55:8-9) Oneday maybe your family member may have a change of heart as well as yourself.(eph 5:10)

Just cause you went to the kingdom hall(name of j.w.’s place of worship) with a family member or when you were young or read a book or two does not make you a witness.[will people (famous and nonfamous) please stop saying their jehovah witnesses when they are not baptize.

Just because Sherri Shepherd came out with “too much personal information about her past” …dont mean we havent commited wrong…the only difference is Jehovah Witnesses HIDE THEIR DIRT TO AVOID BEING DISFELLOWSHIPPED and FRONT like they are so much better than people..and then have the nerve to judge others !

thats right daniel u shouldn’t be scared of them because if u really knew what u were talkn about u would know that jehovah witnesses only fear God not man. oh n trust those fronters and judgers will be judge by God so why r u judging them whether it is unconscious or not you should stop. N i dont now if what u r doing is blespheming or not but i say this sincerely be careful wat u say because u dont want to be the one that judging especially not the whole organization.
When I say…”Aint *****ody scared of no organization of Jehovah Witnesses”…it means people shouldnt be afraid to talk and discuss their experiences with regards to growing up or attending the kingdom hall.

At the end of the day ….it isnt about Jehovah Witnesses…its about having a personal relationship with God…not a personal relationship with the Watchtower and Tract Society …..like I said earlier….AINT *****ODY SCARED OF NO WATCHTOWER AND TRACT SOCIETY and wish people would stop giving THEM the control on a persons spiritually !
