I am not insecure, every black man in my life, was a good one. My father, who was married to my mother (also black) until he passed, cousins, uncles, all married black women except for one, she never feels comfortable at get-togethers, point being that there will be mo more black people period, why can’t black be with black? Other races, are ok but why can’t we be with our own. Umm.. I mentioned both to support my theory that often its the darker Black men who seek out non-blacks to negate their Blackness. That said, I feel you on the loyalty issue. I am currently in a long term relationship w/ a Caucasian man who treats me like royalty.

On the race first, if you are latina, especially from somewhere like dominican, puerto rico, or another of the mulatto states you are the same race as an african american, especially one who has some latin blood. I am a very dark skinned woman, and maybe because I live in Oakland, where we love chocolate I have never felt like brothas preferred lightskinned, latin, or white women over me. Of couse some have a preference for light, or white but I never found them to be in the majority. As for men with money, they vary like everyone else. Diddy has hella cash and his main chick is as dark as me. Maybe this is not the best example, but Dwayne wade, labron james and pratically all of the pistons are married to brown skinned women. Denzel’s wife is chocolate. So my point is don’t buy the hype, Brothas love sistas of all hues, just like we love they ass too. what is important is how you feel about yourself. I thought Fabolous was black and dominican. To be honest I really could care less what color his son’s mother is and I’m a black woman. My best friend is Dominican and was raised in the DR but we have learned so much from one another. His son is a cutie. I hate to admit and I know that it bothers a lot of people but some blacks are color struck. It’s sad but it’s reality, but we’re not the only race that are like that, hispanics, asians and etc… If you think about it everyone has a preference. To be honest I don’t care whether a black man dates a white girl or a Asian girl its not my business or my problem. I am currently dating a guy who is half Asian and half Caucasian and I love him. Black guys get on my case for dating him as they think I should date my own race but what they don’t seem to understand is that I’m mixed race Half black and half white and I can date who the heck I want just as they can.

I guess I say this because I know many proud blacks who look mixed or from other ethnic populations, but proudly and solely identify as being Black. One advice to you all, please take a anthropology or genetics and evolution class, because some of you are very confused. You can even Google the information on race and ethnicity. I read the information by an earlier blogger who said that one drop of white blood even if you are noticeably Black, makes you white. I still can’t scientifically understand that, and if that is so, then Africans in Africa and probably every African American in America would be white. This is a typical white superiority ploy which some ethnic groups have adopted and have carried through their cultures for years which has caused many to look down upon the Black race. How unfortunate. I have a grandfather who was white and my family mixture is what helped me to research more about my identity and Race which I richly and proudly say ” I am of the Black race” You are right, just like there are Blacks with white mixtures there are also whites out their who are singing, politicking, and discriminating who look less Black and more white, even though they are from the Black race. But, some of this research, as well, is quite fascinating about free Blacks in the 1700’s and 1800’s and who many generations latter their families identify as white.
In my opinion black men feel as though they are upgrading when they date or marry a woman of another race. Why else would they continue to date these women and not even take a second look at us?
