Judge Mathis is on the cover of next week’s Jet Magazine. He had a few things to say about TI’s weapons charges:
T.I. did not need all those machine guns and silencers to defend himself, Mathis stated. Too many of our young Black men are succumbing to a subculture of self-destruction involving drugs and violence. Be tough in the real world. Empower yourself with real weapons of success, meaning an education.

YES JUDGE MATHIS!!!! YES!!!! I totally agree with all that he said. We glorify that thug, ghetto mentality and imagery and yet get on someone if he is she is going to shcool to better themselves and make money in a respectable way. Education is really the way. One never stops learning. This should be glorified.

I completely agree with what he said. What the hell did he need all that shyt for? Just to have it??!!! Too many times our black men feel like they have to live up to this stereotype instead of distancing themselves from that lifestyle and realizing what’s important in life. And it ain’t the image that you’re hard and street…they should want to protray their morals and values, that they’re a good father and husband or baby daddy, a good son to their mother and father. Women nowadays don’t look for a “hustler” when we think of the kind of men we want to spend the rest of our lives with, we want a MAN, not a child. You see TI singing a different tune now. Its a shame he had to go through something like this for him to realize what’s important. I pray he’s learned his lesson and turned over a new leaf. And let his life story be a lesson to other young black males.

He doesn’t need those guns, what the hell does he have all those people around him if they aren’t watching his back and carrying the guns? They aren’t just on the payroll for no reason.
She jumped at the chance of having “15 minutes of fame,” when she auditioned for a reality TV show. She was nervous during the screening, especially the medical portion, since several girls had already been dismissed for having the package.
Due to her (coughing) lifestyle, she was shocked when she p*****ed the physical.
She milked every opportunity affiliated with this show and allegedly sl#pt with the star of the show on numerous occasions.
She also had the opportunity to meet rappers, athletes and singers and she relished in the limelight; attending various parties.
She sl*pt with so many men, she lost count and she was devastated when none of them “put her on.”
When the next season of the show aired, she became yesterday’s news and the party invites stopped arriving.
Her 15 minutes didn’t work out as she planned, she had hoped to snag a rich rapper or athlete.
The last we heard, she was contemplating having a baby for welfare benefits.

I wouldn’t quite call an education a scam, it’s one of the “FEW” ways we as blacks can compete against all of the injustices heaped against us. Most states have city colleges that are cheper than private colleges so you can avoid the “hole” so to speak.
A degree isn’t for everyone, but we can educate ourselves with whatever it is that we feel p*****ionate about.
The mailroom on my job is 95% black and the few times I’ve had to deal with the dudes there, they’re always trying to give me a hard time. Yes they’re usually bigger than me and yes they’re always reppin’ the “streets” whenever I’m in their presence, I might not have street cred, or muscles but my “MIND” is so much stronger than any muscle they will ever have, cus their mentality traps them.

@Raquel…I agree that a formal education is a good thing. I’m just saying to the ones that did not attend a college they still have important roles to play in their communities too. Basically you shouldnt feel inadequate, or be able to cop out and not be held accountable because you didnt attend somebodys school.
College does not guarantee you anything if you dont apply it the correct way. Honestly with my own eyes I have seen more productive people without a degree than those who do.
They are too busy feeding off of what they “think” is a traditional form of being educated. A college degree is nothing without a positive foundation.

I agree 100% with the man. These young cats are scared of an ***** whooping. So they need big bad guns to do the talking. I believe every one of us has a responsibility to help the streets but its going to take the whole neighborhood to stop the violence. Then we need to give the streets the opportunity to succeed. I live in the bay area one of the safest cities in the world. One day I went to Gary Indiana and I had never in my life witnessed poverty to that extreme. Come to find out at one point in time it was a thriving black community. That’s sad we need our communities back. You can believe the government has something to do with the destruction of thriving black communities; they’ve replaced them with high power weapons and deadly drugs. The fact is now the drug dealers and gang bangers are the enemy.

I know there are single mothers and fathers who do a GREAT job; but really, that child needs that other parent because some things a son needs to learn a mother may not be able to really relate. And vice versa if the mother is missing. I am 29 years old and I have no kids. I am waiting until I get married. I want my child to grow up the way that I did; having both parents in the household. Because my father showed me what a man is supposed to be and do. He taught me the ways of men and their tactics and how to pick the good ones fromt he bad ones. He told me he loved me and that I was beautiful, so I didnt have to go out and try to find a man to tell me that. So, when a man tells me I’m beautiful, I thank him, and say…what else? I already know this.
My mother, taught me how to be a lady, how to upkeep a household, how to please a man (well, not in detail

Most definitely. In whatever your career field is you can mentor children in that aspect if you are shaky about it. In addition you can work with high school students or college freshman. Contact a locak high school prin*****l/guidance counselor or someone in student activities at a college.
I’m always surprised at how receptive kids are. I’m 28 and they act like I’m 40. It’s a good feeling and some of them think their 20’s are so far away. I have to play down a lot of my accomplishments because many of them get amazed by the smallest things – it seems so out of reach or far away to them.
Go for it – you’ll love it.
I work with kids from elementary to high school age. It’s relaxing – they expect nothing but you to be honest and be there.

I wouldn’t quite call an education a scam, it’s one of the “FEW” ways we as blacks can compete against all of the injustices heaped against us. Most states have city colleges that are cheper than private colleges so you can avoid the “hole” so to speak.
A degree isn’t for everyone, but we can educate ourselves with whatever it is that we feel p*****ionate about.
The mailroom on my job is 95% black and the few times I’ve had to deal with the dudes there, they’re always trying to give me a hard time. Yes they’re usually bigger than me and yes they’re always reppin’ the “streets” whenever I’m in their presence, I might not have street cred, or muscles but my “MIND” is so much stronger than any muscle they will ever have, cus their mentality traps them.

I feel you. But I can only speak from my own ,as well as many of my *Black* collegues’ experience. I have a Graduate Degree, an M.Ed to be exact. My undergrad is Psychology. I am too burnt out to even apply to a Psych Ph.D program.
When I was coming up, they told us all we had o do was to ‘Go to college, and you’ll be rich!’
What a *****in lie! They don’t tell you that your resume can contain all the experience in the world- and still not get hired. You can go to Law school- and that you’re then forced to work for the D.A @ 30,000 a year. That you spend years eating Ramen noodles, busting ***** to get that fiya GPA. BUT you have an ethnic look/name and ‘Boss’ aint cutting no slack. What about the Social Work major slaving over all those essays and papers only to make 25,000 a year?
While I am grateful for my blessing, I also realize that it is MY drive , My social savvy, and all the other gifts the Creator has bestowed upon that keeps me straight. NOT my formal miseducation….

If Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, Carmello, Iverson, Garnett etc. makes $20 million a year, and that’s 4 times the average than that means there are a lot people making under the average….. or do you disagree????
