Ole Miss Football Player Dies After Collapsing During Practice

This is sad:

A University of Mississippi football player has died after collapsing during the first day of team workouts. The university says 20-year-old Bennie F. Abram died Friday at a hospital in Oxford. The non-scholarship junior transferred from Itawamba Community College last fall.

Trainers noticed that Abram was having difficulty early Friday shortly after the workout started. Officials say the trainers began first aid and called 911. Abram died several hours later. Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy says an autopsy will be performed Saturday. He says there’s no foul play involved. The high temperature in Oxford reached 57 degrees Friday.

Coach Houston Nutt called Abram a hard worker and fine young man.

R.I.P. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family…

This is a terribly sad story. I hear that oftentimes the strenuous exercise of sports practice is often what reveals underlying heart problems in otherwise perfectly healthy young men.

This young man was my little brother, and this was a terrible, unexpected loss for my family. My little brother played sports his whole life all during his high school years. He played basketball and football so his heart condition was truely unknown about, but he died because of a heart enlagement, which I think came from the fact that he sat out his whole freshman year. My little brother was a very strong willed person and he was just determined to come back 100% after his shoulder injury! And he ran into some complications: May He REST IN PEACE because his heart was tooo big for this wicked world!!!! I LOVE U BENNIE ABRAM!!! AlWAYS & 4EVER!!!
