Ludacris and His Big Mouth

Ludacris has received some heavy criticism over the lyrics of his new political track, “Politics: Obama is Here.” Unfortunately, Obama is catching some heat in the process:

Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama has condemned an endorsement song from Ludacris, in which the Atlanta MC criticizes rivals Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

The song “Politics: Obama Is Here” contains celebratory bars on Obama’s success (“The first is destined and it’s meant to be”), but turns venomous when Obama’s rivals are addressed.

Ludacris references the bitter Democratic primary battle by stating “Hillary hated on you/So that b**ch is irrelevant.”

Regarding Republican nominee John McCain, the rapper rhymes:

“McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed/ Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped/ Ball up all of his speeches and I throw ‘em like candy wrap.”

Through his campaign team, Senator Obama released a statement condemning the song as offensive and typical of much of Hip-Hop’s current lyrical content. “As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” explained spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

The rap has also drawn the wrath of WomenCount, a new organization co-founded by former Rock The Vote President/political commentator Jehmu Greene.

“It is another example of hateful, sexist language being used on the campaign trail, and now is our moment to make it clear: not on our watch!” stated Rosemary Camposano, Communications Director, WomenCount PAC. “The leadership of both parties must step up to condemn such hateful speech and demand apologies. The Obama campaign has criticized the lyrics, but we call on the presumptive party nominee, who is the celebrated subject of the new song, to go even further: Publicly condemn the song. Demand an apology on behalf of the targets. Now.”

Given Obama’s ethics and integrity, this was not a smart move on Ludacris’ behalf, but we’re sure our man Barack will be able to weather the storm.

Though the song is true many rappers and people who speak out to the media have to be careful with their words, but rap is free speech. It was a smart move for Obama to condemn it because he’s not about this he’s more about change. why should obama have to make any comments in relation to a random rap song that happens to involve him??? just because we’re black we all know each other and we’re all in cahoots???

if he says anything he should say – “it’s america, we have freedom of speech. i don particularly like the song, but it’s not like i wrote it!”

  • DDub

When I first heard that song I knew it wasn’t going to be helpful at all. Someone in his circle should have known better. First, he should have been thinking commercially and especially since he was endorsed by Obama. He should have not used any cursing at all nor should he have disparaged Hillary. Though she caused a lot of bad blood during the primary, she’s endorsed Obama and has helped raised millions for his run–so she’s on our side now.

Politics is touchy at the moment. Though the song itself is soft in hip hop terms its still hard edge in the mainstream world. Luda should come out against his own song and claim that he actually recorded it during the primaries and doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards Clinton.

He should also acknowledge McCain’s war hero status–before ripping into his wack policies. Just my political 2 cents.

  • And…..(with 5 dots)

We don’t need white folks to try to break Obama down. We are doing a fine job at doing it ourselves! If Luda wanted to make a political statement in a song, he should have showed some class about it. Maybe Nas could him to write the next one.

  • Y’all Play 2 Much…

Luda REALLY should have put more thought into his lyrics…he could’ve gotten his message across without being so disrespectful. and he ought to know Obama doesn’t stoop to the level of disrepecting folk…

i think these artist/rappers is taking this election for a joke – its the frist black man who might or might not become the president of america – and some people is taking way too far – its like a circus the way they are going about campaigning for obama – its just negeative energy comming from all across the board

  • shelly

Why does Obama has to be held responsible for what LUDACRIS said??? It’s freedom of speech. Come on!

  • http://www.gravatar.com Re is NOT feeling this J-O-B.

So, Patrick Schwayze (or however this guy’s name is spelled) should be underfire because a bunch of rappers love referencing him in their music? I know Obama is a presidential candidate, so it’s on another level, but this is unessecary. Obama should NOT be associated with everyone who speaks his name.

  • http://www.gravatar.com Re is NOT feeling this J-O-B.

    Unecessary, spell check.

  • Ermy Erm

I dont know what or when it will happen, but my gut is telling me there is gonna be an uprising and not a good one. All these ppl with negative remarks just need to sit back and let it do what it do.

When its your time to speak, do it with a vote. I mean free speech is cool, but be wise when you speak in a public arena where someone else can be disparaged for your remarks. Stop perpetuating the ignorance that so many ppl already think runs rampant in the black community. Show how educated and how far we have come as a society by respecting each other. Respect begets respect. Do unto others.

Now yall know if a white guy wrote a song about Obama ppl would be all up in arms and Luda probably would be the first one to be like OH HELL NA!

I find it ironic that his name describes his behavior…smh…Se la gare

I think Obama is under fire for this because he was quoted in Rolling Stone Magazine as saying that Luda was a great talent.

Whether we agree or disagree with Luda, he has a right to express himself.

Besides, I’ve heard worse comments about Hillary Clinton on this site than luda’s lyrics. Let’s take a look at the archives and see some of our very own saying even worse about Clinton and McCain.

As I’ve said before: Obama supporters will cost him the election before his non-supporters will.

    Thanks Wyzepro for the compliment.

I think the problem with what Luda said was for one it was very offensive and for Obama to have been seen with Luda and saying he likes Luda then yes they will associate Luda with Obama saying is this what Obama really thinks when its not. If someone like Common, Blakthought, Talib, Mos Def, or even Nas did a similar song with the same subject line it would have been completey non offensive, stating facts or smart opinions rather than emotions, and nobody would’ve had a problem. Luda’s delivery of this song was terrible with all the cursing and things. Perfect example of why they criticize hip hop so much today. I wish public enemy would come do a rhyme.

Freedom of expression is just that–a FREEDOM. Just because Obama is running a campaign does not negate that.

While you all are going to bat for Obama, when has he gone to bat for you. By you I mean us, African Americans. He has 95% of our vote but we are the only group he has yet to cater to. He can give speeches in countries that can’t even vote, but he can’t take out time to speak at a state of the black union address. He’s made specific and unique promises to Hispanics, Gays, Jews, Working Class whites where are ours? There are unique issues that we as african americans should hold obama to.

Freedom of expression is just that–a FREEDOM. Just because Obama is running a campaign does not negate that.===================

And Barack has the freedom NOT to associate himself with speech which is ultimately detrimental to the Bigger Picture. Barack did Luda a service, he big upped him. I understand what Luda was trying to do, he was trying to compliment him, rap style, because Luda was proud of Barack name-checking him as one of his favorite rappers to the world. But Luda had to up his game specifically because of that.

Luda could not claim on his song that he’s Barack’s favorite rapper — Luda could not name the song after Barack himself — and then talk sh*t about how Hillary is a b*tch and John McCain needs to be paralyzed. This is the time for some ‘backpack’ rap or definitely some ‘conscious’ rap. He has to look out for Barack as well as himself.

@ Ermy Erm, I hear you.

@ Ddub, you wrote, “Luda should come out against his own song and claim that he actually recorded it during the primaries and doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards Clinton.

He should also acknowledge McCain’s war hero status–before ripping into his wack policies. Just my political 2 cents.”

I hear you on that, too. That might not be a bad idea on how to finesse this issue so that it doesn’t continue to hurt Barack and it doesn’t hurt Ludacris. Or something similar to it without lying about when he wrote it.

However, after the whole Jeremiah Wright thing, he should’ve known better. Did I say to the contrary? No, I did not. Of course Obama has the right to break ties. I personally would if his words might hinder my campaign but Luda has an equal right to express himself and should not censor himself for the sake of a political election.

Obama is getting flack because he recently named Luda as an great artist.

Man yall are a bunch of hypocritical people. Whatever Luda said, y’all were all yelling the same thing. Read the Hillary or McCain posts. Ludacris is not a politician, he’s a rapper and can say whatever the heck he wants. Plenty of people were defending Lil Wayne (not all of you, but some posters who are now saying how messed up Luda is did agree) when he talked rowdy about Jesse. So what’s the damn difference. I agree with whoever said Barack did not have to comment. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. That’s what you get when you want rappers to be our leaders. The don’t know much just speak from feelings, and that’s their right. We did not elect them and should not hold them accountable for the personal viewpoints. Now I could see if Obama had this song as his anthem at his rally’s but he doesn’t. So stop buying into the propoganda people. Damn.

  • http://www.google.com Man, I just don’t care

The very notion that we are discussing this is ridiculous. Saturday Night Live does “political skits” repeatedly and I’ve never heard one politician questioned about it.

Hi, Lou. The difference is that:

    a) Jesse was a hypocrite who talked b.s. about burying the n-word, and extorting good money out of people for uttering the word — then turning around and using it against Barack when he thought no one was listening (while stupid *ss Julian Bonds just nodded his head);

    b) Jesse did not big up Weezy by claiming that Weezy was on his iPod.

    c) Weezy wasn’t attempting to big-up Jesse and boost Jesse up; Weezy was condemning Jesse.

    Meanwhile,

    a) Obama is trying to run a ‘different’ campaign, and called out blacks as well as whites in his famous speech on race this past spring,

    b) Obama big upped Luda (among a couple others) by saying Luda was on his iPod and that he liked Luda’s music

    c) Luda was trying to prop Obama up, street style. Obama is not trying to be president of the Streets, though, and if he were, he’d end up just like Dave Chappelle’s Wall-Street-to-Bum-on-the-Street character in that infamous ‘when keeping it real goes wrong’ sketch.

Luda should have handled the song differently. This is a learning experience. That’s all.

    Thanks…

I traveled to Mexico city and was amazed at how much they love BLACK people. They know our struggle and everything we went through to be where we are today. We just have to continue to educate, protect and nurture our youth.

Most of all we have to re-establish our roots and keep Black Mothers and Fathers at home being role models.

Things we need to bring back:

    Prayer in the Home

( This is were everything starts, if I can’t find a Bible within 5 minutes of entering your front door then something wrong )

    Attending Church on Sunday

    ( No explanation needed )

    Self Discipline

( We now what we need to do, we just need to do it )

Doing something KIND for someone we don’t know

( It gives your life more purpose and makes your rest so much sweeter )

    Telling people we LOVE them

( This is why our young people turn to da dragon, they want to be loved )

Caring for our elderly ( invite them over for a meal or just to talk )

Sticking together ( ask your neighbor if they need anything from the store, cut their grass while doing your own )

( the next time it snows in your area, look out our window and see how many people just shovel their own part of the sidewalk )

Family dinners every day of the week.

( I don’t care if you are just eating corn flakes, we gonna be some corn flake eat together people )

    Family outtings

( Get on the bus (drive) and go to the park, you don’t need much (a blanket, some water, book, bat and ball, snack )

    Reading Stories to Children

( They will love you for it )

I’m sure yal can add a few to the list…

Barack has no need to defend himself against this bs. Luda is not in his camp, he is not his man. He said he likes his music. I didn’t hear Bush distancing himself from the Dixie Chics when they got in trouble for their thoughts on the war. And he had also said that he was a fan of their music. You know what he did? Ignored it. I know, I know. He already had the presidency, but my point remains. Artists and musicians are entitled to their opinion, and entitled to voice it how they see fit. I ain’t mad at Luda. He stated his opinion. He didn’t do it on Faux News, but in a song. That’s his job.

  • Sepiastar

I love my people but there’s something wrong with us!! We feel an overt need to be “politically correct” on all issues but in reality, we’re extremely hypocritical. There is NOTHING wrong with Ludacris’ song. He’s a rapper and he exercised free speech. Why do we feel the need to justify every action of every black person when no other ethnic group accepts that responsibility? We’re on a continuous mission to appease everyone (with the exception of each other) and we’re always “worried” about someone else perception of our actions. It’s pitiful. White commentators/journalists, televangelists, and rock groups make offensive statements that can be considered degrading but all whites do not accept the responsibility to be accountable for their words and will oftentimes, dismiss it as freedom of expression. Why can’t we?

  • Just Sayin

Obama is running for the US, not the just the hood. On that note, I hear luda and everyone’s freedom of speech but.shhhuuutttuuup,….until he actually wins. its not like a Black prez happens all the time.

people dont realize, when America (THE WHOLE) thinks of luda, they see him as beefing with Oprah about disrespecting women and the guy who got banned for lyrics by pepsi. nothing else.

  • Lady Architect

    Lou in the Chi,

I agree with you on the Bush thing, but like you said he already had the office. On top of that he was a white man against gay marriage which to me is the real reason(stupid reason) he was granted a second term. Anyways it’s harder for Barack because he has to win not only black, but white voters too who are still up in the air about things. Public Enemy spoke a lot about politics, but their delivery was crazy which makes them the living legends they are. The did it in a respectful manner speaking facts and opening people’s eyes. Ludacris is just complaining and cursing people out mostly. Not a good way to deliver.

  • Lou in the Chi

McCains camp is trying to hit him with the dumbest stuff imaginable because they have no other footing in the condemnation. I mean they just compared the man to Brittney and Paris. Said he’s being too presumptious by assuming he’ll win the presidency. If the worst they have to say is “he’s too popular” or “he’s too presidential” then he needs to keep doing what he’s doing and ignore the bs. Don’t let them pull him in.

He needs to make sure he votes too.

I so hear you, but…Obama is just playing into stereotypes. Ludacris does not speak for his campaign. He can say what he pleases. I could see if he was at the DNC rapping these lyrics, that would be a problem. But he’s doing what he gets paid to do. I mean if he came out with a four minute long song about taking a crap I don’t thing Obama would feel the need to address it just because he’s stated that he likes his music(well maybe just to say how ‘crappy’ the song is). Ignore him.

  • Sepiastar

Senator Obama is not responsible for every action of every Black in America, and I hope one day HE realizes this. He has had to denounce so many people since he’s been running for the POTUS but why has Senator McCain not performed the same action. It’s simple, you have to display some level of loyalty. Senator McCain didn’t formally denounce Senator Gramm for his comments about Americans being “whiners”. Senator McCain did not denounce Pastor Hagee for his comments or Rod Parsley. Senator McCain really ignores the comments and keep forging ahead with his negative campaigning and that’s what most “white” american respects. Senator Obama should not have even addressed Ludacris comments. It’s a non-issue to him and Senator McCain has repeatedly stated you can’t control all of your supporters actions.

  • Bozo D. Clown

Why do silly ass negroes like this do things that they have to know will cause trouble for Obama?

Nita, I’m from the South. The point highlighted with the statement is NOT ignorance of southerners. As I went on to say in the blog was the history of our race….. be it from living in the South and really anywhere when you think of it. It seems that some believe some rappers with ignorance, speak for our race and they don’t speak for me with ignorance. There is a way to do everything and especially to get your opinion across in a more tactful way. For those of you, who agree with what Luda had to rap about go ahead and bump this at your cubicle or work station because I’m sure 9 times out of 10 you work for the Man and don’t own your own or even if you have a job to go to with the state of our economy. So, let’s get it done FIRST before running off at the mouth.

    @WyzePro

No, Ludacris and any other person comments won’t COST us our first shot at a Black President. What will cost you if you’re not in the community registering voters and getting people out to vote on election day. Now, that will cost you an election. I work as an Election Official and I volunteer with Senator Obama’s campaign in GA and there are a MULTITUDE of us that’s not registered to vote (in this day and age). Therefore, don’t be naive to think comments by supporters will cost you an entire election. However, if OUR PEOPLE don’t get out and vote, you’ll be surprised by the outcome. The last primary we had in July in GA, Republicans outnumbered Democrat votes overwhelmingly and they did not have any critical battles on the ballot, and they STILL voted…

They are two totally different people and should be treated as such…..I also wish that music would just be kept out of politics b/c it causes too many unnecessary problems.

If votters would use would Ludacris has to say, someone who has no affliation with the candidate, against Barack then they had no intention of voting for him anyway. This is a ruse. And many Americans are dumb enough to buy into it. Obama’s running a practically flawless campaign and this is the only bs they can use against him. And guess what we’re buying right into it. What does this have to do with the issues. Obama needs to stay focused on the issues and he can’t loose. Playing into this bs just gives McCain people a chance to say “I told you so”. If he were going to reply he should have said, “He’s free to voice his opinions this is America. And that’s the beauty of America, you have dissenting views over everything from the war to the economy to the war on terror. And these are the dissenting views that I have from McCain regarding those issue…” Or something along those lines.

You all can say whatever you want about it…I’ll bet Cash Money that Luda feels bad about this now and is trying hard to come up with something to counter the backlash…I know he didn’t want that to happen he was just bein luda….I’d be surprised if he said nothing at all about it cause he strikes me as a thinker and someone that has a elevated mind state….sometimes we can mistakenly trip up a situation in our exhuberance…

  • Morpheus

Why is a Presidential candidate paying attention to a hip-hop song?

  • Sepiastar

    @Strong Black Man

You seem to be very adept at stereotypes. Are you insinuating Ludacris is uneducated because he’s a rapper? I would hope you know otherwise!!

  • Chocolate

Hang in there Obama! I knew stuff like this would happen. I think all black people need to agree and hold our mouths until the man gets in office

  • RUTHLESS

AND ALL YOU BLACKS DOWNING HILLARY WILL FEEL STUPID WHEN BARACK PUTS HER AS HIS VP..

  • WhatsYoursIsMine

I don’t think this will hurt Obama, because so many people are starting to ACKNOWLEDGE the difference between N!ggas and Black people. I believe people outside the Black community only see us in extremes. You have the upstanding families like the Huxtables and the Evans family, but what they see as reality are the people on the news, mugshots printed in newspapers, etc.

We (Blacks) aren’t covered as favorably in the media as whites. Leaf through your local paper one morning and read in the business section. They’ll print a picture of a white businessperson over a black one. But go to the Metro/Crime section, they’ll print a picture of a black mugshot more than a white one. I had to do a study on this in high school and we researched the names appearing in 5 articles from every section. there were several black names mentioned in the Arts and Business sections, but only 1 out of 10 pictures would be a black person. But when we went into the crime section, most of the names were white, but they only printed the black/Latino criminals’ pictures.

I do believe some people see blacks in a positive light, but unfortunately, we’ve let the media/pop culture define us in a negative light. It’s up to us to change how we’re perceived in the media. I had a former classmate from J-school say she never knew there were so many black political pundits/correspondents until this election. What’s sad is many of them have been involved for decades, but could never get a lot of camera time until Obama was nominated.

So while I do agree Ludacris has the freedom of speech, hence allowing him to make this song, let’s get the MSM to focus more on Roland Martin, Donna Brazile, Jamaal Simmons, even the conservative black pundits who may be Republicans. They need to see us on all sides of the political spectrum, not just sum us up through a rap song.

It doesn’t matter if Luda is right. Steve Harvey just sumed it up at the closing of his show. Every week Obama has to address some stupid ass comments made by celebrity black men. It’s bring negative attention to his campaign. That right wing media is enough to deal with. I can’t believe Luda didn’t have one intelligent person around him to tell him it was a stupid ass ideal for the song to come out now.

AND THEY SAY BLACK WOMEN DON’T SUPPORT BLACK MEN. OBAMA HAS NOT HAD TO DEAL WITH ONE IGNORANT BLACK WOMAN YET. HELL EVEN REPUBLICAN SHERYL UNDERWOOD IS IN HIS CORNER.

I am so dissapointed in Ludacris for this. He should know that John McCain’s camp is looking for anything and everything to tarnish Barack’s image. This was absolutely unnecessary. I feel that he did this song only to put himself in the spotlight rather than help Barack Obama. Does he have a record coming out or something? I am sure he could have thought of another way to positively contribute to Barack’s campaign.

This ties in 2 y I didn’t sign Nas’ petition against Faux News. Faux has freedom of the press the way Ludacris has freedom of speech…regardless of how vile we may think their opinions r.

That being said, I have 2 agree with the person who said that Obama’s supporters may cost him this election quicker than his opponents. This includes everyone from that Pastor from his ex-church, 2 Bernie Mac telling a misogynistic joke at an Obama function, right on over to Luda. Yal turn to Proverbs 10:23, and read wit me. It says-a…. “It is a sport to a FOOL to do mischief; but a man of understanding hath wisdom. (can you hear da crown reading aloud)

Yal ain’t hear me … It says….It is SPORT to a FOOL to do mischief…., Mmmm Hmmmm… Well……… Now I ain’t callin no names but, yal know who I’m talking bout… I’m just gonna say two words, DIRTY DIRTY…

    See if I was still a sinner, I’d cut him wit my razor… But I’m a changed man…. I don’t doos dat any mo…

Let’s read on…(crowd reads aloud) , BUT a MAN of UNDERSTANDING hath WISDOM… Dem some powerful word…

I understand your sentiments but the anti-Obama propaganda machine will be in full force REGARDLESS. When does Senator Obama take a stance like Senator McCain and disregard the supporter comments? If anything, what level of principles does this show to Americans, that we’ll denounce any and everyone for your approval. What will you do when you become POTUS and someone that supported you makes disparaging comments? Senator McCain appears nonchalant towards his supporters actions or antics. He doesn’t host press conferences and address every single remark/comment that they make and people respect that. Visit the huffingtonpost.com. The Nation is sending Senator Obama an open letter and asking for signatures concerning their assumption that he is not standing firm on his principles. I don’t see one posting about Ludacris lyrics…

Okay, I have to admit that Ludacris was a favorite of mine, not so much for his rapping but for his acting and his charitable activities. I had concluded, wrongly perhaps, that there was a bit of wisdom behind the harsh rap lyrics.

But this song is problematic for me. Sure, Luda has freedom of speech, as we all do, but adults we are expected to make wise decisions on how we use that freedom. In this case, Luda did not.

Unfortunately, this action of his behalf diminishes him in my eyes. I’m sure there are others who esteem him more because of what he did.

Nita pointed out in an earlier post the Barack gave Luda a “big up” when he proclaimed in Rolling Stone that Luda was on his iPod. Well, Luda paid him back with a “slap down.”

I wish I had some idea what Luda was thinking when he recorded this song. I’m afraid he was only thinking dollars.

    Say it ain’t so.

This makes absolutely no sense. The lyrics are so non-inclusive. In order to support Barack Obama you must be all-inclusive and g rated. This is exactly what racist americans expect from a black president and luda is perpetuating that image. What was Obama to do.. say . Yoooo that’s what’s up my ni#$a? I mean give me a break. Black people are much more intelligent than that.. and there is no way that luda coudl have honestly believed that that song would HELP.. Grow up luda.. u really let me down this time.. he is MUCH too smart for that.

Whether he thinks so or not he represents for a generation and culture. Luda’s making moves in business and if he wants to get political he has to have a better strategy than the obvious. Looking for shock value while sending a message? Do something nobody would expect…Obama’s relevence ONLY should have been the topic. Keep the focus on him. State your opinion postive and strong. I went to Stephens College and took classes at the J-School at Mizzou before dropping out. The classes Stephens didn’t have were at MU, so they let us enroll at both schools. MU had better equipment, but Stephens’ professors were more fun. University of Missouri is very competitive, and I felt the professors were too uptight, but I’m sure that’s why they were one of the top ranked J-schools in the country.

The difference with Mccain’s supporters is that when they gaffe in public, they r treated as “individuals”. Mccain, there4 doesn’t have 2 address these “individual” idiots. When an Obama supporter gaffes… especially a black 1, we r all considered as a monolith and in cahoots with each other, whether right or wrong. Barack has an added problem because earlier, he gave props 2 Ludacris 4 being talented. Now if he doesn’t speak against what Luda said, then he is seen, rightly or wrongly, as co-signing. In short, Mccain has white privelege – Obama does not.

  • p03try1

    Good Morning All,

I have a few comments about this whole ordeal…..

we have to remember that this is all an opinion. We may not like it but we essentially cannot govern over everyones mouth to stop them from voicing their opinion. Its unfortunate that an anchor on FOX news did not get this much heat for calling him (Obama) Osama or the fact that it was stated that the fist pound that Obama and his wife do are some sort terroristic gesture or that on the front of the “New Yorker” there was a cartoon character of Obama with a turban on…… I understand that alot of ppl are offended from the remarks in song that Luda has made but lets keep in mind that this is happening on both sides. I am not condoning his opinion( and I use that term strongly) but he has a right to state it. Alot of the comments are harsh to the other parties, but whether we like it these things are going to happen..

  • Its6amHoGetOut

If ive said it once, I’ll say it a thousand times!

Barack stay away from these sh*tty a*s deep south rappers!

First TI wants to jump on the Barack bandwagon and the n*gga’s a convicted gun felon, Now ludagris releases this stupid a*s rap song insulting white rivals and Barack has to go on TV and distance himself…………..

This is the type of sh*t that FOX news loves to report and since they have the highest ratings its broadcast into damn near every white household in America.

Barack wont lose the election, these damn ignorant deep south “Bama, Yessuh masta” rappers are gonna hand the sh*t to McCain!

Like I said, build a wall around the deep south just until the election is over.

  • chico

Yeah ludacris shouldn’t have put that out there but to be honest he’s just speaking his mind and I agree Hilary was a b$%ch when she was still in the running but I have to ask why does what luda say effect obama just because luda raps about something he’s speaking for himself not for Obama so I don’t think it should affect him at all….

Anyway wassup Z how you doing?

  • 2cute4u♥♥♥

Furthermore, Obama is not disputing his talents, only his ability to keep his mouth shut when what he is rapping about doesn’t have anything to do with what he’s about.

  • velvetj

I’m willing to bet that most black people who are upset about Ludacris, are upset not because his words were utterly reprehisible, but because they feel it may hurt Obama. Which is sad. I wonder if there would have been such a strong reaction from Black folk, if Obama were white? Hmmmmmmmm.

It is stuff like this that make a lot of the “old schoolers” nervous about passing the baton. In the world of Hip Hop, where calling a woman a b*tch is “normal”, is not reality in the rest of the world. If you can’t stay concious of what “world” you are in, the rest of the world will not take you seriously. The same thing is true for NAS. NAS was standing in front of the FOX Network World Headquarters, surrounded by the mainstream media, addressing a serious topic, and his pants were sagging below his butt and he couldn’t get through his statement without using profanity. The next day Fox took him to task and made him irrelevant to the viewers of FOX News.

The old saying is when in Rome, do as the Romans do. If you want to get your message out or you want the world to hear you, sometimes you have to “leave the hood” and meet the audience where they are. In MOST OF THE WORLD, sagging is not normal. Calling women b*tches is not normal. Calling each other n*gga in front of the world, is not normal. And not being able to complete a sentence without using profanity, is not normal.

If anything, this all just re-inforces the negative stereotypes about Hip Hop and rappers, and ultimately reflects negatively on black people.

By the way, as each day goes on I am finding myself less and less likely to vote for Obama. This crazy allegiance to that man is SCARING the hell out of me. Like I said before, the only reason black folk are so upset with Luda is because they feel it may hurt Obama. When the real reason should be because his lyrics were so disrespectful.

I think those who think Obama is going to win based upon black folk voting for him, is living in a dreamworld. It’s the independent voters and the Hillary supporters, many of whom like myself, are still bitter. And actions like a nationally known supporter of Obama, calling her a b*tch, is not going to win many over to Obama’s side. Someone here said, Obama supporters are going to be the reason behind him not getting elected, and I totally agree.

Ive spoken to my progressive educated friends, we’ve decided that if Obama loses in Novenber, The east/west/south pacific black people are gonna start a civil war with deep south n*ggas, The first to go will be every record company in MISS, ARK, GA, FLA and ALA, we saved Alabama for last because we wanna torture them mofo’s!

After we’ve captured every ignorant a*s deep south rapper and his CEO, we’re gonna have the first slave auction in 153 years right here in Honolulu, the Gov. aint gonna care, we’re barely even considered one of the 50 states, besides by the time they find out most of these n*ggas will have been sold.

You know in some ways I agree with you and in some ways I don’t. Unfortunately you are right that the song by Luda will reflect poorly on Obama, Rap, and blacks (in that order). The question is “should it?” I think we both agree that it should not.

I’m sure most people are fully aware of the phrase “Don’t kill the messenger.” If people were to only adhere to people based on appearance there would have been no Ghandi and thus no Martin Luther King. What about Che Guevera, Malcolm X (who was criticized for his goatee), Mother Theresa etc.

I’m a realist as well as an idealist. I understand that people are human and will pay attention to someone’s appearance/speech/etc. But, I still realize that the message is the important thing, not where it comes from or “how it looks”…

I agree with Obama. It’s VERY hard for me to accept these rap lyrics. I love our people and I love their talent, but I feel they can use the same beats and rap about something positive. Why do the lyrics have to be nasty, degrading and disrespectful? I think “ARE WE CRAZY” talking about ourselves, like that. But rap music is promoted by the country. And I feel, personally, as yet another way to hold us down, keep us back and in our place – lowest on the totem pole. You know when our own men start disrespecting us – then the whole world will CONTINUE to disrespect our women and our race as a whole – sooner or later. Even if Obama doesn’t become President – but I think he will – he is speaking something that Black men should take heed. He didn’t talk about your Mommy in a disrespecting way – he said protect and love your Mommy, as well as your kids and your family. What’s wrong with that? That’s what we as black people, in this country in particular, are lacking from years of oppression. Like I always say – EDUCATE your own Black children. People can take that in any way they want and run with it. I taught my Son to respect his ancestors and elders, recognize AND KNOW where you came from and you’ll always know where you are going. And most of all KEEP it POSITIVE and I’m happy to say, as a young man who is a GREAT father to his daughter, he DOES.

VelvetJ…..I agree with you. We are our worst enemies. We think that cursing and demeaning Black woman is the norm or cool. It shows nothing except that we have no pride and very little class. It saddens me that Blacks under 35 have very little sense of what those who fought for equality stood for. They ask for respect and the right to be heard yet they say nothing of any worth. Nas, Luacris and other militant ignorant gangsta rappers, along with thier supporters…..get real and get some sense.

The world consists of more than the foolishness they want to be heard. If you want to improve education, get your children and the other children you see hanging in the street to school. Attend the PTA meetings and become involved in the school activities. You want to stop crime, stop looking the other way when Pookie brings home $200 tennis shoes you didn’t buy or friends that you know he shouldn’t be hanging with. When 12 year old Shayla leaves home dressed like the hood-rat hooker snatch her little behind back in the house and take those clothes off her and put her in something respectable. Don’t fall in line with the foolishness Luda and his cronies spew because they are the reason the Black youth are as lost as they are now.

Obama is a tool for the New World Order to minimize the threat of rebellion and chaos. Don’t forget the elections are FAKE competition. He’s already dumbed down America so that when the dollar dissolves and becomes the Amero, he’s already a trusted leader with the poor and “educated”. Then he will begin the North American Union(Canada/Mexico/US). He’ll shut down Africa for the African Union because he’s half Kenyan. He’s shut Europe down. Curious…there are soooo many denouncing Luda’s lyrics in here yet there seems to be a select group of ‘educated’ blacks who think that we all agree with what he says. Thus all the black bashing by these same black folks. It seems rather retarded to blame Black women AGAIN for the words of two grown up Black men, but yet somehow the ‘educated’ have found a way to do it.

The educated may need to seek psychological help for their apparent deep seeded hatred for Black women based on their own trifling BLACK mother….

    @velvetj

    _____________________________________________________

    @ Man, I just don’t care,

You are absolutely right, I agree with you that Ludacris’ actions should not reflect on Obama, Rap, and Black people, but I have noticed that the older I get the less idealistic I am and the more realistic I’ve become. And the REALITY of the situation is, it will indeed reflect on all three whether it should or not. In fact, Fox News has already been making sure it reflects because they have been having a field day with this Ludacris situation.

Regarding the appearance element, I understand what you are saying completely, however I stand by my belief in that showing up at a press conference to discuss THAT particular issue on a world stage, and you are sagging and using profanity? Naw bruh. If Obama showed up at the Democratic National Convention, sagging and using profanity, shouldn’t the only thing that matters be his words and his message? Of course. But the REALITY is if he wants the nation to take him seriously, he had better not show up sagging or using profanity to get his message out.

I suppose I’m also approaching it from a personal standpoint as well, because if I’m speaking to someone and they begin to yell at me or disrespect me, I tune them out. Even on this website, if someone responds to one of my posts and they call me out of my name, I INSTANTLY stop reading. I feel the same holds true for many of those who can’t seem to know when certain things are appropriate. I don’t believe people take them seriously when dealing with certain issues.

its sickening b/c every single black person (thats registered and knows how to vote) will vote for Barak. NOT for what he really stands for but simply b/c he’s black….black people kill me…supporting someone just b/c he’s half black….ASK YOURSELF WHAT WILL OBAMA DO FOR YOU? Obama is sooooo smart that he wants us to inflate our tires and get our tune-ups so we don’t have to drill gas. That’s fine until he shot off his mouth and said that it would save as much gas as drilling.

Nothing wrong with being a realist, but if we forget our ideals than how “real” are we as individuals?

  • MAGIK826

Real Talk. I think what ludacris did was good just for the simple fact that its the truth. Alot of people coming down on Luda but he said what millions of people were afraid to say. I wouldnt have said hillary is a b*tch but everyone knows she has some B*tchassness in her. Hillary’s whole campaign was about trying to ruin barack and change how people perceived him. I think what luda said was real and true. Thats whats wrong with america now they dont want to hear the truth or if they do they want it watered down. BIG UPS TO LUDA

  • JAD

This is very surprising to me. I cant believe Ludacris would do this because he doesn’t seem like the type. That is not cool.

  • homie

So I guess according to what most are saying all drug dealers, thieves, murderers, cheaters, and addicts shouldn’t wear Obama ’08 shirts. They shouldn’t show that they have an inherent right as well, regardless of their situation, to have a free voice, especially if their black. Listen, I wouldn’t be surprised if Luda freestyled that song as he recorded. Regardless of anybody thinking its wrong, there are far more lyrics on songs that say much worse about our own people, and we’re not in uproar. I think most of us are just surprised that this came from Luda, cuz that’s typically not his style, but so be it. It is what it is. And I don’t buy for one ‘cotton pickin’ minute that Obama listens to Luda, let alone have him on his ipod. That was a ploy people. I support Obama 100% and would love to see him win this thing, but to have to continuously disembark yourself from others for their words or actions is not right. Jeremiah Wright, Ludacris, and others that have spoken against the travesties of this country so far, I beleive are the only ones really speaking the truth. And just because the majority of this country (the same majority that was pro-slavery, pro-segregation, and anti-affirmative action) don’t want to hear the truth, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t speak it.

OKAY FOLKS, LET LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS:

How many people have you heard of coming out, since Obama became the presumptive nominee, saying racist/sexist/violent things about Hillary and McCain? Not many.

BUT: let’s flip the script and talk about occurances since Obama won the nomination: SEVERAL! From him being called BOY in open meetings, people PURPOSELY mixing up his name to call him OSAMA instead of OBAMA, the senator from SC/NC putting on his website (official website paid for by the state) a t-shirt picture comparing him to Osama Bin Laden.

So much has been to Obama by people on purpose, yet the MSM will glaze over that, so O’Reilly knew what he had to do to make sure EVERYONE knew about Ludacris’ song. Let’s start hardballing the people who come down on Obama for the wrong reasons. I have no problem with anyone saying he lacks experience, has questionable ties to “unsavory” characters, etc. But he gets attacked because of his birth name and race all the time. Why don’t we play that up instead of just letting “media” like Bill O’Reilly and Faux have all the fun?

  • Strong Black Man is Back, I got two of them at!

    “Forced Job Training”

All unemployed people and those receiving welfare and Government subsidies will now have to enroll in a new program. This program will help assimilate these Americans to the workforce by helping them acquire vital job skills. Employers also need to enroll and will be able to select individuals best suited to help their companies. The labor provided will give the people enrolled valuable experience and a networking system. There will be no compensation but the people that enroll and are selected will receive free room and board. Those not selected will be shot.

Whatsyoursismine you are correct. Bill O’Reillly is just running scared because NOW that the reports have come out about all the talking points coming from the white house to CNN(not to mention the looming threat of a Black Democrat who has snobbed FAUX NEWS coming into presidential power) he has to do everything in his power to downplay unneccesary attacks on Obama while highlighting attacks on McCain and Bush. He knows what is coming and he knows no matter how this thing turns out, his programming days are numbered. Look at how they destroyed Rush Limbaugh. O’Reilly is next.

  • Dumbness is Alive and Well

I’m really tired of this. Just think you guys, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to view the similarities. Ludacris, now why in the hell would he come out with this rap at the height of Obama’s campaign. He needs our positive, “shout your damn mouth and behave” support until he clinches this thing. Here you have Ludacris coming out with yet again controversy a la Jessie Jackson with this whack ass controversial rap which only causes Obama to get away from his campaign and real issues to address this yet again more garbage. This is just a waste of good quality time he could be challenging McCain on the issues, if you haven’t noticed, the polls are close yall. What was Luda thinking? or was he caring or thinking as all. But, of course, the corporate executives, who run and control Luda felt this was the perfect time to put out this rap for controversy and distraction of Obama’s campaign. Luda didn’t help Obama one bit. That is what is going on in a nut shell. Luda was manipulated and didn’t even realize it. Shame on him!!! Now you know he could have put out this rap after the election. It apparently was beyond his control, because it is a bad time for this rap record to come out. I am so tired of once again those self serving, inconsiderate and corporate controlled Negroes. I will stop, and I hope you all will do the same, buying any type of rap or music including Ludacris’s rant, that is detrimental to Obama’s campaign until this campaign is over.

Okay, so this is our chance at having the first black president elected. Are we gonna waste our time focusing on what someone said? True enough it wasn’t the best thing to do, but nonetheless we need to be more focused on AIDS, education, poverty, etc. We are spending too much time focusing on the negative and not the positive. And if I can remember correctly there is this thing called freedom of speech. With that being said, Luda voiced his opinion and it’s a big controversy? Why? No one has a straight answer for why…

Barack having a chance at being the first black president is irrelevant to what Luda did. If Barack is on top, then that’s where he’ll end up.

    @ Mr. Anderson

well said but I don’t really feel u. I see people act white, and act black all the time, so I can’t really feel all that.

  • INOCENTbiSTANDR

Well, I personally don’t think Obama should apologize for NOTHING! He didn’t write it, rap it, or promote it. McCain didn’t apologize for the “Curious George” shirts, did he? Although, I love me some LUDA, maybe this wasn’t the right time to come at ‘em with this. He has free speech and all but why add gas to a burning fire. We all know they looking for ANY&EVERYTHING to throw at OBAMA so don’t give ‘em any more ammunition. Maybe LUDA was just tryin to appeal to the fans who may NOT care about voting and this could POSSIBLY CHANGE their minds. OK imma stop trying to defend “MY MAN”.

And someone stated that LUDA was unintelligent. I don’t know if that was meant literally or not, but just for the record, he did attend and graduate from a 4 year university. So, unless you are an athlete or effing the professors, you have to have SOME brains cause everybody can’t achieve that.

I agree with those that stated we, Blacks, are the ONLY race in the world where actions of one are attached to ALL of us.

This part is to Ludacriss: WHY in hell did you do this?!!? you have, in the past, appeared to be intelligent; you had to have known that your “rap”

would cause a firestorm- and NOT in galvanizing but polarizing support for mr. obama! people are looking for ANY excuse to diminish this man! and, you can’t say that it was taken out of context,i.e. rev.wright ! this man has had secret service following him from day 1 because of death threats on him & his family because of racist, insidious elements that wants him gone at any/all costs! if they could get to reagen, ford, why the hell don’t you think that he can’t be gotten to ?!!?

is your career so slow, not been in the public eye for a minute, that this is the only way that you can get attention? all bad news ain’t neccessarily

    better than no news!!!!!!!!!!!

i have to wonder what your motives were…… did the powers-that-be ( whom don’t want him to win for very obvious reasons) PAY you to do this?

  • STEFANY

I have a big a problem with the phrase “acting white” because it carries such a negative and narrow minded connotation. “Acting white” also infers that one can “act black” or “act (insert race here)”.

    *****************************************************

    Man, I just don’t care

I agree with you, on the CNN special Black in America 2nd part The Black Man, there was a black guy who came from a wealthy family his dad was a superintendent and his mom was a judge and of course his parents put him and his 2 brothers in the best private schools, and they lived in a mostly white upper class neighborhood.Because of his high education and up bringing he spoke really well and educated and of course all of the dumb negros picked on him and called him white and made fun of him..He was completely ostrazised by blacks throuh out school and never fitted in, and as a result of that he’s now a successful DA and married to a white woman.

You see, we take our intelligent black brotha’s and sista’s and make them feel like outcast for being intelligent then when they’re successful and end up going out of their race to be accepted we call them sell outs when we’re the ones who turned them away, that’s why I hate the term “Acting White”..Why does intelligence and professionalism has to be associated with being white..It’s a shame we celebrate ignorant ass rappers and ball players but not the young person with the genius level I.Q., and good grades.

See trs..the difference between your statement and the statement of SBM is that you didn’t choose to make ALL Black men the culprit unlike him and his crony. Maybe man i just don’t care is just one of those who doesn’t get offended by the disrespect and demeaning of Black women. Maybe he only chooses to see the causes of Black men for whatever reason…preference maybe? Who knows.

All I know is that I love BLACK MEN, BLACK WOMEN, BLACK BABIES ALL EQUALLY. I will defend the good in those categories and those who want to be good in the same categories. If he wants to, he can defend just one segment too, just don’t do it at the cost of another.

“If he wants to, he can defend just one segment too, just don’t do it at the cost of another.”

Girl you are reading my mind! I cosign with your comments 1000% percent. I have only seen TWO brothas on this site defend the sistas when *some of these brothas cast aspersions on the character of the black woman. When we respond, all of a sudden we are attacking “all” Black men.

  • trs (Dre knows that he loves him some trs)

    @ Man I don’t care

Whether or not I seem “angry” to you is of no consequence to me. Your perception is your perception…but that doesn’t make it a reality.

Clearly the “fake hair” comment and the other comments went over your head and at this point, I am with real woman…”I don’t care” that you choose to ignore or condone them. Keep doing YOU because I can promise you that I will keep doing ME.

Some Black men are ” hoes, down low, drug addicts and spreading HIV etc” so what is your point? Why didn’t you add that to YOUR “amen phrase?” You keep trying to throw stones at *some Black women while ingnoring the fact that the “sword you keep swing works both ways.” *Laughing

Bottom line is that I see that you and I are going to have to agree to disagree. This is a fruitless conversation because you refuse to see where I am coming from. You would rather think of a me as a hater of Black men when it is the farthest thing from the truth. I am simply one strong Black woman standing up for another. You can continue to choose to “set up a tent” in defense of Black men because that is your right. I promise that I will do the same and I have no qualms about doing so!!!!

It is not healthy to be this angry for no reason.”

I never said “demeaning of black women” doesn’t offend me. That being said obviously we don’t agree with what is “offensive.”

No, I didn’t take whoever that was that said the thing about the hair serious. And thus I was not offended. When you took that statement and responded with a statement about “SOME” black men instead of the individual that made the remark I added, with some sarcasm, that there is also “SOME” black women with “negative” attributes since you didn’t.

I guess you could explain how you determined that to mean I “condone” anything negative to black women.

That is what I was refering to and that is my point. It’s cool though.

At any rate, as I said before, I have nothing at all against you brotha. I stood up for me and mine and you did the same. I will continue to stand up for my sistas of QUALITY and you continue to do the same for the REAL BLACK MEN of substance out there. Deal?

If you are taking his words “offensively” (or anyone else’s,directly or not) than that’s on you because I can’t control that.

I guess you were skirting when you didn’t make any comments about black women, yet claiming AMEN against “Some” black men. That’s why I chimed in. If you took “offense” to that then again, that’s on you because I can’t control that.

Also, I didn’t skirt anything. I was originally addressing the stereotypical comment that a Black male made about Black women so why would it be necessary for me to make comments about Black women in the same breath?

And why are we so up in arms about this song?! Bill O’Reilly should focused on Faux’s good friend Toby Keith and his song about Lynching. It has even pictures of actual lynchings in the video. While the pictures show people of all races being lynched, he is FOR this violent vigilante justice. He even references a Jewish man who was lynched back in the day.

Let’s see how many people we can band together to protest Toby Keith’s album. Instead of bumping our gums here, let’s go flood Music distributors inboxes to not sell Toby Keith’s latest piece of crap album.

Let’s also ask Faux why they aren’t discussing his pro-lynching bull, but focusing on WORDS from Ludacris.

Not agreeing with Luda’s lyrics or anything but he does have the right to say what he wants in one of his songs. And Barack does have the right to not support that. Luda ain’t a saint and neither is Barack. Yes I would love to see a black man in office but he still is a POLITICIAN. Of course he is going to condemn those lyrics. He will do what it takes, just like everyone who ran before him, to make himself look good and get into office. A politician is a politician no matter what race or type of pants/skirt he/she is wearing.

This is the reason why must turn off the got damn t.v.’s and stopped listening/boycott major television networks…..this was supposed to be a significant time for our people, which has been over clouted by biased racist media attempts to consort Obama as an “uptty negro”, thanks to Jessie Jackson, and people like Luda, (who honestly need to sit his azz down, why isn’t anyone writing something positive in the rap game about aspiring to be someone like Barrack, thus, “their son’s” have a chance and being something great other than chasing “hoes”, cars and broads?

We all need to stop watching main stream media and news. I only watched “Black in America”, because of Soledad O’Brian’s brilliant efforts, thus, I had started getting a soft spot again for CNN, until the last Sunday airing of “Black in America”, CNN again was on the Right Wing Nut Sack of criticizing Obama again, for being to “Presumptive”,”too arrogant”…..at a time when everything in this media is solely driven on Right Wing/Old Clinton “Gotcha” sound byte/racist tactics, I’ve resorted to listening to talk radio….AIR AMERICA (.COM), Jones Radio Network and Randi Rhodes show on the Nova M radio network(Usually these are found on your AM dial),Huffingtonpost.com, BBC World News, NPR,Bill Mahr( HBO) Jonathan Stewart and oh….Keith Oberman (is the only one I watch on cable/t.v.)…..The rest of the media is sold and brought by the Right Wing machine. Until the Fairness Doctrine is actually repealed, and 90% of the media is broken down to reflect more progressive media reporting, I am not going to buy into the media hype anymore!!!!

We honestly need to start boycotting the media/CNN/ WHAT THE FAUX NEWS NETWORKS/MSNBC and NY Times, and other journalism forms of media, until we can get part of “Fairness” in the Fairness Doctrine restored!!!

Please my people, check out the other media sources and then turn off the idiot boxes until the elections are over!!!!

Barack has to grow some nutz for Jesse to cut them off. What a little bytch.

@Somer wrote, “AND THEY SAY BLACK WOMEN DON’T SUPPORT BLACK MEN. OBAMA HAS NOT HAD TO DEAL WITH ONE IGNORANT BLACK WOMAN YET. HELL EVEN REPUBLICAN SHERYL UNDERWOOD IS IN HIS CORNER.”

Actually, he had to deal with many ignorant black women while he was battling Hillary Clinton. I’m sorry Maxine Waters was one of them, I used to respect her. Not anymore.

The black political blogs were all over those crazy Obama-hating Hillary-loving black female leaders. The worst of the bunch was Sheila Jackson-Lee of Texas. She was called ‘handkerchief head’ and worse by black bloggers (many of them black women) for how far up Hillary’s a$$ she had her head. My personal tipping point when it came to her was when she made those ignorant comments about Barack Obama’s ‘native dress’ when the Somali pictures came out.

Think about that phrase. So I cheered, too, when the people of Texas booed her butt on stage back in like March, and started chanting ‘OBAMA’ for like 3 minutes.

    To dubya and meleemel,

I apologize for misreading you two — on free speech and on the South. That was not my intent. Keep up the good fight. (ps. meleemel, I was just riffing on its6amhogetout’s reputation for having a pavlovian reaction to ‘south’ and ‘negro’. i apologize for the misunderstanding, and did not mean any disrespect.)

    @ thatbkchick

Thank You! Hit these networks where it hurts their ratings. Well hold on .. dont boycott the whole station just the programs that you feel our not fair, turn it off!

@Man, I just don’t care wrote, “You see, we take our intelligent black brotha’s and sista’s and make them feel like outcast for being intelligent then when they’re successful and end up going out of their race to be accepted we call them sell outs when we’re the ones who turned them away, that’s why I hate the term “Acting White”..Why does intelligence and professionalism has to be associated with being white..It’s a shame we celebrate ignorant ass rappers and ball players but not the young person with the genius level I.Q., and good grades.”

    That was beautiful.

Some of you people are really scared. The people, who actually vote, won’t even give Luda a second thought while they’re at the polls, so chill. If Obama doesn’t win, there is no way in the world, you can blame Luda or anyone else for that matter & as far as Bill & the Fox news network goes, they’ve been making racist comments for years, but as you can see, they’re still on the air & doing pretty good in the ratings department.

I agree. Good point. To me this just shows how the Republicans have to use low ball tactics to make people look at Obama different. They are not focusing on the real issues b/c they know they can win that way so they pop up what a rapper that most of white middle amerians haven’t hear of the get at Obama. SMH.

This man wanted to be on Oprah, what would she talk to him about his tactfulness?

  • tricia

Everyone has the right to speak freely but this song will hurt Obama’s campaign if he did not speak out against ludacris. These negative critics who do not want to see Obama in office will qoute these lyrics word for word and try to sway voters into voting for Mccain. This profane language should not be tolerated regardless of the election or not.

Obama critics cast him in a negative light through other black peoples behavior. They try to discredit him and deem him incapable of running for office. Public Advocates for him should watch their speech and lyrical content because it will backfire, and voters will be swayed in another direction if it has inappropriate language.

I love a Luda, but some of his lyrics just ain’t right and some of the lyrics on this song are not right. That’s not the way you refer to woman Luda, who carried you for nine months? It doesn’t matter how much you hate that particular women. A deragotary term made to women just doesn’t affect the woman it is said to, it affect us all.

Secondly, after the issues with Pastor Wright what were you thinking. This reaction was to be expected. Everyone has been going on about guilty by association and will continue to do so. Obama doesn’t need this as he already has McCain’s ads to contend with. He shouldn’t have to defend himself over people’s (yours) stupid remarks.

People get on the same page. The focus and our ultimate goal is the White House. That’s all. All these unnecessary and stupid distractions are not helping us. We need to be converting Anti-Obama people to Obama’s side.

I’m glad he wants to speak his mind but damn have some tact negro. You can criticize a person without degrading them. You’re a rapper be creative.

Where is lauren when you need her.

  • aiil

We are going to shoot ourselves in the foot aren’t we? Oh hell hillary should have just won & it would have hurt less then.

  • Another example of self-hatred

I see that most of you on this site do not know your history, so I guess being upset about Luda’s song and degrading yourselves and other black people is all you know how to do. It’s amazing reading these comments and seeing such low self-esteem black people have. It’s sad that these comments are coming from black people. SMDH, enough of the self-hatred already.

P.S. I see a lot of people throwing the EDUCATED word around. I bet that the people saying this word aren’t even educated themselves. It just sounds good, right? Anyway, because if you were, these self-hating comments would never leave your mouth , because you would know better than that. STOP SELF-HATE IN ’08!!!!!!

    GOOD MORNING!

Have you all seen the story where WalMart executives were telling their store managers about the possibility of unionization if a democrat becomes president? God forbid Walmart make their employees work decent hours and receive benefits in a timely fashion.

    YES WE CAN!

If you want to read the story for yourself, you can find it on Yahoo news, FinancialWeek(dot)com,

  • http://www.google.com Man, I just don’t care

Trust me when I say that my reading skills are EXCELLENT. Once again, you are being facetious and once again you have missed my point. I don’t feel like explaining it again so I will let it go.

Of course you can’t control my feelings. I never said that you could…and I didn’t take offense to you chiming in. I took offense to your comment about Realwoman and I. You thought it was funny…we didn’t.

Also, I didn’t skirt anything. I was originally addressing the stereotypical comment that a Black male made about Black women so why would it be necessary for me to make comments about Black women in the same breath?

You are always going to stand up for the brothas. As previously stated, I will always stand up for the sistas. We can both agree on that.

Yes, there are no hard feelings.

    *Vigorously shaking your hand back*

    _____________________________________________________

No, I’m not being faceticious or sarcastic. You made a comment and I made a comment. You interpeted mine to be in agreement with ILLUMINATE (or whoever) for whatever reason and you were wrong.

What you take offense to is up to you. So again, that is on you….. but I do understand.

Yup, you are going to stand up for yours and I am going to stand up for mine, then we are in agreement.

    Wal-Mart mobilizing against Obama: report

Managers said to be warned about the downside of organized labor; Obama then linked to unionization

    August 1, 2008

(Reuters)—Wal-Mart is mobilizing U.S. store managers to lobby against Democrats in November’s presidential election, fearing they will make it easier for workers to unionize, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings at which the retailer stresses the downside for workers if store workers unionize, the paper said.

About a dozen employees who attended meetings in seven states said executives stressed employees would have to pay hefty union dues and get nothing in return, and might have to go on strike without compensation, and warned that unionization could force the company to cut jobs as labor costs rise, the Journal reported.

The Wal-Mart human-resources managers who have run the meetings didn’t tell those attending how to vote in the November elections, but made it clear that voting for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, would be tantamount to inviting unions in, The Journal said.

Wal-Mart could not be reached immediately for a comment.
