Bill Cosby is at it again – talking to the black community about family. This time, however, the comedian managed to avoid the “scolding” tone that angered black leaders in the past.
According to the AP, Cosby was in Baltimore recently – urging parents to keep their children close. “Your children got no business going to the street for love. There’s no love out there,” Cosby told the crowd during a city-organized block party. “All that’s out there is lost young men looking for love.”
Cosby told the Baltimore audience to empower themselves by pursuing educational opportunities that lead to well-paying jobs. The legendary entertainer and advocate for education addressed a few hundred people Thursday in the struggling Park Heights neighborhood, according to reports.
Cosby was joined by Carolane Williams, president of Baltimore City Community College. The two promoted community college as a viable path away from poverty and crime. The comedian’s remarks were reportedly positive and free from admonishment, and the message was supported by Sly and the Family Stone song “You Can Make It if You Try.”
The even was organized to promote Operation PROTECT, a city program in which disadvantaged neighborhoods are flooded for a period of several weeks with city services and increased police patrols. Mayor Sheila Dixon said the purpose of the program is to familiarize residents with the many services available to them. But, she said, taking advantage of those services is a matter of “personal responsibility.”
I GOT SOEMTHIN TO SAY ABOUT DEADBET PARENTS!!
you suck dad!! lol
Eh Yo Prince….all that cuz u first *****?
He ain’t lying…..
@ILLUMINATITHEPRINCE
I’m thinkin’ maybe Bill was talking ’bout yo ***** in this speech….you need a hug or sumthin?
Why does Bossip have quotation marks around enlightenment? Do they prefer that black people get their moral comp***** from the numerous ***** shots and trifling rapper stories on this site?
YOU TELL ‘EM BILL!!!
ALOT OF BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR THIS!
ESPECIALLY OUR YOUTH.
ALL THESE PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED BUT ITS GONNA TAKE EFFORT ON THE PART OF THOSE WHO NEED IT AND THOSE WHO CAN GIVE IT!!!
@Lauren, thanks for the copy & paste.
Bill needs a megaphone everytime he speaks. He does nothing but tell it how it should be and lazy ***** Black folk get all aggy. Straight up, if even half of the community would seriously listen to Bill and put some of these obvious practices into play, a lot of stuff would change…
Lol @ Doagae
…
But anyway when is this man going to stop spouting empty platitudes and attempting to p***** them off as amazing innovative ideas. You mean people shouldn’t go out on “the streets” (whatever that means, and wherever that is) “looking for love” (whatever that means, and whatever that is). NO! Revelation of the century.
And we should all go to college… wait a minute Bill where did you go to college? Oh that’s right your empty rhetoric only applies to those of us who haven’t made a fortune shucking and jiving for white people. My mistake.
DON’T FEAR THE TRUTH
JUST HEAR THE TRUTH
Good job Bill. Baltimore needs it.
Hey TJ. You sound awefully ignorant considering Cosby has his BA from Temple and MA from UM*****.
Maybe you’re defensive because you’re one of the ignorant trash that Cosby is trying to extricate from the Black Community.
Bill’s “shucking and jiving” has paid for the education of literally hundreds of black youth. So until you actually accomplish something in your life besides running your ignorant mouth on a website, STFU about Mr. Cosby.
FOOL!
Dear Common Sense
Extricate is not a word.
And for your information I have two ivy league degrees.
Personal credentials aside I never said what he was saying was incorrect. I merely questioned his motivations, tactics, and delusions of grandeur.

Think before posting son.
also @ tj
HOWS THIS FOR EDUCATION, MOTIVATION, & TACTICS???
Bill Cosby has been a crusader throughout
his career for a better world and for better understanding between people. Besides his
involvement with a host of charity organizations, Cosby is also an active trustee of his
alma mater, Temple University of Philadelphia. As philanthropists, Bill and Camille
Cosby have made substantial gifts in support of education (most notably to
predominantly African American colleges and universities) and to various social service
and civil rights organizations.
In addition, Cosby earned a Masters Degree in Education (M. Ed.) in 1972 and his
Doctorate in Education (Ed. D.) in 1977 from the University of M*****achusetts.
SEEMS YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS DELUSIONAL…
BILL COSBY LOOK LIKE AN OLDER DARKER JAY-Z. ANYHOW HE CANT TALK CUZ I WENT TO CAU AND I DONE PUFFED TREES W/HIS OFFSPRING. RUDY TOO.
What’s the problem BOSSIP? Cos has been an advocate for education & self-improvement since before there was even an internet.The fact that he does’nt sugar coat it to your liking speaks volumes about the lame brains in your “editorial” department.
@ Da Truff Hurtz!!!
@TJ almost made me question my own dang intelligence and have to break out a dictionary, thesaurus and do a spell check on them both! Ivy League doesn’t alway equal intelligence or the common sense of breaking out one of the aforementioned tools to look up a simple word before you try and blast someone about it. Hell, you’re on the internet! How easy is it to put that in your search bar and get the info even quicker? OOPS!
@ ILLUMINATITHEPRINCE

COWARDS
WHY DO THE MOST LIGHTSKINNED BROS. BE SO PROUD TO BE BLACK. LIKE U CANT JUST BE BLACK U HAVE TO BEEE BLACK
@ Dr. Funk, I agree with you 100%. I think Black fathers should take more responsibility in raising their kids. Too many of our youths are dropping out of school and getting involved in the street/street activities. Cosby was right the first time and now that Obama has done the same, Bossip is ***** riding!!! Bossip, you guys are so *****ing fake!!!
I love Bill Cosby and the only reason why people have a problem with him is because he speaks the truth and to many the truth hurts..so my advice to yall who are just not getting it, wake up and get real quick!
The problem people have with Mr. Cosby is that he calls out the faults of the black community without also blaming whitey. You can’t say that Black children are born out of wedlock without saying that institutional racsim is the cause. You can’t say there are too many black men in jail without saying that white racism is the cause. But please tell me, WHERE DOES THAT GET US?
It’s like we can’t take criticism without that nice spoon full of “remember, it’s whitey’s fault that we’re in this position” to help it go down.
What Mr. Cosby realizes (and what many of you need to grasp) is that Whitey has washed his hands of us. We can “explain” and “make excuses” for how unfair things have been, but that doesn’t change *****. Only WE can change our destiny. That starts at home,
and Whitey has no part to play in it.
I never heard anyone get out of poverty by blaming whitey, but I’ve seen some amazing brothers and sisters get out by taking responsibility and pride in themselves as Black men and women.
LOL @ T.J. And I love the fact that common sense called her son afterward. Intelligent but can still get hood.
@ TRUFF
Back at you fam.
And yeah, tj is suddenly very silent.
@ glok9n
HE ACTUALLY IS TAKING CARE OF HIS OUT OF WEDLOCK CHILD.
HE HAS ADMITTED TO HIS BAD CHOICES, AND HAS ALWAYS PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HER.
THE WHOLE BAD CHOICE CAME TO LIGHT ONLY BECAUSE THE MOTHER WAS *****ED AT BILL FOR NOT COMMING UP OFF MORE “HUSH MONEY” NOT CHILD SUPPORT.
ALTHOUGH HE IS NOT IN THE GIRLS DAILY LIFE, SHE DOES HAVE A GOOD LIFE AND HAS ALWAYS KNOWN WHO HER FATHER WAS.

I NOTICED THAT TOO! Like it’s not possible, so let’s put it in quotes.
I respect Bill for still putting in work.
Damn, why is it that we as blacks clown everybody who takes a stand or voices thier concern over a topic??
Bill is an icon not only in television but in the Black community. He speaks the truth to our plight even if it’s an “oldman” sort of way. Reminds me of my grandfather, he goes off but his his heart and intentions are in the right place.

It is my interputation that if the same comments that Mr. Cosby made, would have been made by Weezy, Jezzy,and anyone who graces the set of 106 and Park no harm no foul. Malcolm, Martin and Fannie would be proud?
What’s up with that Bossip? Now you’re not gonna post my comments when I put in all that time and effort. I can’t remember what all knowledge and wisdom jewels I just dropped. I went slap off and you fools didn’t post it. That’s that bull****!!!! OK, I see how you wanna be!!!
Hmmm… let’s c the videotape:
Nas – Has a news conference in front of Faux news. Discusses his grievance by cussing every third word and standing there with his pants sagging off.
Celebrated for “calling it like he sees it,” “keepin’ it real,” and “telling the truth.”
Bill Cosby, whose personal and financial commitment 2 the betterment of black people r WELL do*****ented, goes in front of black audiences and “calls it like he sees it,” “keeps it real,” and “tells the truth”.
VILIFIED 4 doing the same?
Chris Rock was right… AA’s r in civil war.
Black people wake up!!!
Everything Bill Cosby says is absolutely correct! Everything starts with FAMILY AND EDUCATION. If you have dumb***** parents, you will have dumb***** kids. If there is no strong family structure with two parent homes. meaning a father and a mother with education and family values, the youth will be SCREWED!!

Copy and paste has to be your best friend with this site. I’ve typed some BEAUTIFUL pearls of wisdom on political posts, and nothing saves onto the site.
@DA TRUTH HURTZ! HOW MUCH DO THESE CELEBS PAY YOUR SELF RIGHTEOUS AZZ!?? I SEE ONE OF YOUR CLIENTZ LOL! MZ B*****ETT IF YOUR NASTY! BLACK MAN?
this is why I could never support reparations. As soon as white folks hand over those checks, they’re going to hang a big “Closed” sign on the complaint window. Then who are we going to blame?
Personally, I blame W.E.B.DuBois for pushing a neurotic *****imiliation agenda over Booker T. Washington’s less glamorous self-reliance program. DuBois’s way conditioned us to look for our reflection in white people’s opinions of us. It also left us unable to tolerate much self-criticism much less practice it. And we’ve have had an unhealthy obsession with being “included” (read with white people)for generations now. As though we had very little actual selfhood to stand on that wasn’t conditioned by or dependent on our relation to white folks.
Maybe that’s why the race police (Jesse, Al Sharpton, Michael Dyson) are so quick to denounce the Cosbys and others out of hand: they’re very easily embarr*****ed, not by what we do, but by any dent in the shell of appearances they’ve made for respectability among white folks.
They must be forgetting that it’s only recently that white people have gotten too polite to tell us exactly what Cosby’s trying to tell us.
I guess at this point, everybody’s just waiting in polite silence for us to just die off already. Society’s probably gotten as many beats and slam dunks as it’s going to get out of us. Beyond that, we seem irredeemable.

@ ILLUMINATITHEPRINCE
Was that necessary? What does Bill’s message about AA bettering themselves have to do w/ his son? Does Bill’s family life take away from the message that he’s preaching? Does it somehow make it less valid?\
I mean I’m really trying to understand this ignorant mindset. It’s almost as if the messenger has to be perfect in every aspect before most AA’s will listen to the message. Unreal.
I personally think that Bill should keep on preachin because there are far too many ignorant people running rampant.
@ Commonsense
Puhhllleeezzzze preach!
@Illumnati-
Parents aren’t responsible for the decisions their children make as adults. BUT I do know people that went to Morehouse with Cosby’s son, and they said he was very rebellious. So, I think a lot of where his talk comes from his own hurt from his son’s waywardness/death.
But I do think he can come off like a hypocrite. When he was saying men need to get it together so black women will have someone to date, I was so mad about that graduation speech. I was like, you’re not together, you just have money. If you didn’t have money, you’d be a regular bum like the ones you’re discussing. Sticking your d!ck in anything just to get off when you have a wife at home, that’s just as bad as being a deadbeat, or unemployed man.

See you will always catch more flies with honey….you can’t expect people to hear you out when you are coming off as a hypocritical attacker pointing the finger (like when you dumb a$$ dropped out of college on your FIRST try).

That being said..would it be okay if a man in jail for murder gave Bill Cosby the advice of keeping his d!ck in his pants? How do you think Ol’ pudding pop would take that advice? It is all about delivery people. If he had said, look my son was killed during a drug transaction gone bad..I know how these things play out, no one wins. Try to turn your life around so you don’t wind up like my son. THAT WOULD BE HELPING. Not going to a GRADUATION for Black kids doing well and making your commencement speech about how rotten Blacks are INSTEAD OF PRAISING THEM FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING.
OH! LIFE IS SO SIMPLE NOW…….
Bossip got their hater-blockers on like Creepa on From G’s to Gents! I tried copying and pasting and everything! That’s some more of that bull Bossip! I hate you ignorant *****s!! Choke on it!
“That being said..would it be okay if a man in jail for murder gave Bill Cosby the advice of keeping his d!ck in his pants? How do you think Ol’ pudding pop would take that advice? It is all about delivery people.”
Well- its my opinion that black people have ben talked to “nicely” long enough.. For everyone’s “nice” speaking – the black community has been in a constant downslide.. When whitey tries to talk nice, he’s being racist.. When the black man tries to talk nice, he thinks he’s better than. When the black woman tries to talk nice, she’s nagging.. Some element of our race would get *****ed even if Bill did say it nicely.. All some elements of our race understand is destruction – and thye need to be spoken to and dealt with accordingly..
So lemme sound this out: Black male. please take care of your kids.. Black male, please stop killing yourown deadin the streets. Black male, please get an education.. I mean – really??
I mean c’mon now – how nicely do you have to ask a man to take care of the life he creates instead of looking for others to blame for him abandoning his children…
@ realwoman
YOU ARE RIGHT TOO!!! JUST LIKE ILLUMINATITHEPRINCE!
Only perfect people should be allowed to help others!
I like this world you live in…

Sometimes a person who has been there is the best person to speak on it.. In the exact reverse of what your saying about hypocrasy – who best to bed the councelor to an addict but a recovering addict?? Sometimes the experiences one experiences in life makes them the perfect advocate..
Angel_Minded
I mean I’m really trying to understand this ignorant mindset. It’s almost as if the messenger has to be perfect in every aspect before most AA’s will listen to the message. Unreal.
__________________________________________________
U know what’s really ironic about the whole thing?
That only seems 2 b applicable unless the person in question is, say, Tupac.
Last I checked, he served jail time 4 rape, no? But his proponents insist that people listen 2 his “message”. “Only god can judge”, they say. “Don’t hate the messenger…” “He who is without guilt…”
Suddenly when Cosby speaks, he had better b squeaky clean in HIS personal life? WTF?
“Only perfect people should be allowed to help others!”
So according to this theory – if you have a group of young black males on a bad criminalistic path that could ruin their lives and its your job to get a speaker to speak to them in a *****embley one day – are you gonna get someone “perfect” or are you gonna get someone who has been there, on that same path, but turned it all around?? Who do you think those boys are gonna listen to – theone with the experience or the person who knows nothing abouttheir experiences and has never walked a day in their shoes??!?!?!
@Da Truff Hurtz-
I think if he came at from a “learn from me/take it from me” point of view, it would be different.
He comes off like the dirty old preacher talking about sins and redemption, with his wife watching from the front row, mistress in the choir watching the wife, and mistress in the mission circle watching the mistress in the choir. All this sin floating around you, and you want to redeem yourself with words, and not actions.
They’ll preach it and teach it, but will they actually live it?
@COMMON SENSE !!! ***** OFF MY NUT SAK *****GIT YOU STILL MAKE NO SENSE BYTCH *****! MUAH …FOR ACTING LIKE A MAD ANGRY BLK WOMAN HOE ***** …CHANGE THAT TAMPON I CAN ALMOST SMELL YOUR PERIOD!
“Suddenly when Cosby speaks, he had better b squeaky clean in HIS personal life? WTF?”
And thats the problem with blacks now.. When you will get your advice from an uneducated rapper before you will an Ivy League graduate who both havesomething to say about experiences of the black man something is terribly wrong..
DA TRUTH HURTZ! YOU KNOW YOU MY BRO …IM JUST *****KIN WITH YOU! TELL MS B*****ETT I SAID….. HEY MA!
@ HF
LOL, You are speaking the truth, as sad as it is. I can’t believe how many people would rather hate on Bill Cosby and hold gangsta rappers up as role models.
“They’ll preach it and teach it, but will they actually live it?”
Bill Cosby could walk away and say nothing as so many black males in a position to he heard do… ALot of black males, once they are in a position of power, are so busy sucking out of whiteys ***** that the ast thing on their mind is bettering their own in any way..
I give Bill an A+ for effort.. I say effort cause its not like he reached anyone who he needs to. If you agree with being s***** then your gonna be s***** regardless of how much Bill preaches.. I truly believe the only people who get mad at him are the ones who are perfectly content sitting around blaming everyone for their own self inflicted ***** – and don’t want to hear anyone telling them that’s not gonna work anymore…

DID’NT SEE YOUR LAST POST…

SO, why not say THAT in the first place instead of bashing Bill like he was a bum off the street???
You point out Anything & Everything negative about the man.., without acknowledging there is ACTUALLY A PROBLEM he is addressing in the Black Community!!!
If a PIMP is on the news & says Black Men need to LOVE, SUPPORT, & RESPECT thier Daughters..,
I GONNA SAY… “HE RIGHT!”, “HE AIN’T LYIN’!!!”
NOT “OH HE A PIMP, HE DON’T KNOW *****.”
“SMDH@ AN IVY LEAGUE OL ***** THAT DRUGZ HIS YOUNG VITIMZ AND MOLEST THEM …..THAT IVY LEAGUE ***** ….IM SURPRISED YOUR TAKING UP FOR THIS OL SWAMP APE LIKE YOU CALLEM!”
I stick up for him cause I believe he is a good man who has done very good for his community and he has a good, positive message to p***** on..
I could care less what he does in his private life especially where none of those allegations were even proven true or even close to it.. Alteast he dealt with it instead of saying its cause he’s black..
And all the man is saying is for blacks, namely the black father, to get themselves together.. He’s not writing a book or anything…
You all will liten to rappers with blood and violence on their hands and who, as a group, play a huge role in the destruction of our race today..
What’s the issue with listening to Bill?!!?!
“You point out Anything & Everything negative about the man.., without acknowledging there is ACTUALLY A PROBLEM he is addressing in the Black Community!!!”
AMEN!! This is all I’m saying.. Why are people acting like this man made up a lie and started har*****ing innocent blacks over it?!?!? Damn, noone can give the failed black person any advice. They always have an alterior motive.. YEAH RIGHT!! And in the mean time our kids just continue to fail…
I often wonder what type of parents people who get *****ed at Bill are or what type of parents they had…
*****************************************************
I don’t care to hear anything Bill “Uncle Ruckus” Cosby has to say.

Some people on here are just straight ignorant to the point where I wish I could see your stupid a$$ behind your comments….dayum shame. Bill Cosby keeps it REAL. I just had a conversation with a friend about how black people are always trying to blame someone else for our ***** ups….OOOH, we have cheating men and broken families because of slavery, our men can’t get ahead because of the white man….COME ON ALREADY. IT’S NO ONE FAULT BUT YOURS. Some of us have a B.S, MBA, Law Degree, are lawyers, doctors, teachers, writers, or a combination of them. Some of US CAME FROM THAT SAME HOOD AND MADE IT OUT. It’s a personal choice people. Tired of lazy ***** black people pointing fingers! then want to be mad when someone makes it talking about “He making all that money and ain’t giving back to the hood” ….Get your monkey ***** a JOB! Geesh!!!
EXTRICATE IS NOT A WORD – ahahahahahahah
@ SMDH
I WROTE THAT IN SARCASM….
We all know *****ody is perfect, all people have problems, make mistakes & bad choices…
IT’S CALLED BEING HUMAN!
Anyway we both see pretty much eye-2-eye on this one…
As far as the at-risk group is concerned.., YES! A person who had been on the wrong path and got off to have a better life would be a great source of help.
BUT! THE MORE HELP, THE BETTER!!!
People need to hear it from all sides to gain perspective & insight as to what thier lives may hold!!!

I never knew that if a person wanted to help at risk kids and families that they had to have a criminal record or “black card” in order to “help” the community…this has got to be the most ignorant mindset that I have EVER heard of!
As long as the man’s intentions are good, WTF difference does it make how his child turned out? This is like the most illogical backward@ss logic EVER!
*****ODY IZ GIVING THESE RAPPER NO LOVE , CUZ THESE *****S ARE DUMB AS *****KING JUNGLE BUNNIES COONING ….RAPPERS LIKE DEAD PREZ,KRS,X CLAN,AND A HOST OF OTHERS!
@SMDH-
I’m not saying he has to be perfect for us to listen to him. No person is perfect. I’m not saying I don’t APPRECIATE what he’s trying to do. This last speech was better than some of his previous efforts.
As I stated in an earlier post, I think he speaks out on these things because of pain he’s gone through. He can just come at people a better way. Not everyone wants to hear this from anyone who’s willing to say it. Obama’s speech was okay, I didn’t want to hear it from him, BUT I had to remember he’s spoken like that before, and he speaks, and will say, that he’s doing it from his past and what he went through.
Cosby can be a leader in our community, a beacon for the COMMUNITY, but some people will never get over his personal demons to speak about raising children.
Just like Jon Voight’s op-ed piece against Obama. If you go to Huffington Post or any other political blog that posted it, people were BLASTING his background on family. He didn’t raise his kids, much like McCain, he abandoned his first wife and first set of kids. Jon Voight can speak out on fair pay in Hollywood, artist’s rights, etc. But no one wants to hear family talk from people who “appear” to not respect family.
This speech was better for Cosby. And you have to admit, if you saw tapes of his previous speeches, he seemed like a crazy old man. Not an enthusiastic preacher, concerned grandad, anything like that. He seemed like he was going to FIGHT someone in the audience.
THOSE RAPPERS I LISTEN TO! THEM BROTHERS BE KICKING THE TRUTH! THE ONES I JUST NAMED! BILL THE MOLESTER COSBY LIKE TO GIVE THE WHITE MAN AMMO TO ATTTACK BLK MEN ! THAT BITTER OL ***** GET NO LOVE …TALK TO YOUR PPL BILL BUT DONT YALL AT THEM IN FRONT OF OUR OPPRESSORS!
Coop,
What about Tupac and the rest of the Gangsta rap clan?
U think we should ignore what Bill is saying while we “extricate” the deep messages of Thugnificent and Gangstalicious?
WhatsYoursIsMine(Check me out!)
Who do you wanna hear it from?
BILL IZ SUFFERING FROM A DEMENTIA AND ITZ EATING HIS AZZ ALIVE AND HE TEAM UP WITH THAT TOM ***** DR.POSSAINT WHO IS USING HIM TO PROFIT OFF THE SALES OF BLK MEN … PROPAGANDA!
@ Coop
We are discussing when he is right. U know, instead of dismissing the message which obviously needs to be addressed.
OR we could make fun of his appearance….
ITZ ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY OFF OF OUR PPL! AND BILL KNOWS HE CREATED AN ATMOSPHERE OF IGNORANCE WITH HIS CARTOONZ FOR COONZ …FAT ALBERT!…. I WILL NEVER FOR GIVE THIS HYPOCRITE!
@AYANA
The man talks blacks going to jail and bashes them and their parent, when he is a rapist was able to get away with what he has done because of his money.
The man has never spoken up for poor blacks. And in the past when he was ask he would say “I don’t talk about those subjects”
He only speaks about blacks on shows that are mainly watched by Whites and economically elite audiences. And in turn people like Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh us his self hating views to support their views.
***People wake up this man is causing more harm then good.***

I’m new to this site….which I’m lovin! But what is everybody’s prob with LiveS*****? Sorry, I just don’t get it.
COOP! YOUR A SMART BROTHA! YOU CAN SEE IN THE SLAVE HOUSE LIKE MYSELF, WHILE THESE HOUSE *****Z ARE STARING OUT ! IM A FIELD NIGGR!
I mean, heck…
While we’re downing Bill Cosby 4 not practicing what he preaches, or not being real, then let’s also shut off Rick Ross and the rest of these fake-@$$ studio “gangstas”.
It’s amazing how folks have “selective” criteria 4 who can speak on black issues and who can’t.
Da Truff babes..where you been? Who doesn’t know there is a problem. Is it not on the news? YES…is it not in the paper? YES. Is it not in numerous books? YES. Is it not staring you right in your face when you go home, visit your parents, pick up your kid from school? YES YES YES. My thing is when are we going to start preaching it in a positive way instead of a condescending way ESPECIALLY if the person preaching is doing some of the same things?
All I did was what Bill did but I did it to him. Why is it bad when we point out his nasty ways but not bad when he points out the nasty ways of others? We run to talk about messy Jesse and permed up Al but all of a sudden the COS gets a p*****? WHY?
WHY DO YOU *****UME WE LOVE RAPPERS, AND THEY CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR OUR CAUSE …***** A RAPPER MAN! WE DONT LOOK TO RAPPERS TO PLEAD OUR CAUSE ARE YOU THAT STUPID TO THINK A RAPPER IZ THE NEXT BEST THING TO BILL?.. GET THE ***** OUTTA HERE!
The few times he is right are greatly out weighed by his wrongs.
WE HAVE BLKS THAT KNOW SOLVING OUR PROBLEM DOES NOT TAKE A WHITE AUDIENCE APPROVAL! YOU *****Z ALWAYS NEED WHITEY TO COSIGN ..***** BILL COSBY *****KING RAPIST, DEAD BEAT DAD!
Seriously..who over the age of 17 is taking advice from rappers? Are you kidding me? It’s kinda like what came first..the chicken or the egg. We HAD THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE RAPPERS CAME ALONG REMEMBER PEOPLE? They been rapping about everything from racism to unity to sneakers to coochie to skateboards to guns to drugs to boogers. Not all rap is bad and most of it isn’t even advice. Even I know this and I haven’t bought a rap CD in eons.
Also if you don’t think anyone should take advice from rappers..then why oh why should advice be taken from college drop out comedians who wore booty huggers in the seventies?
How bout this…YOU take the Cos’ advice and don’t worry your little head about who else doesn’t. Make sure to strap it up while you are stroking your drugged wrankly white women who will accuse you of molestation and fathering an illegitimate baby. lol
glok9n
ARE YOU THAT STUPID TO THINK A RAPPER IZ THE NEXT BEST THING TO BILL?..

If u r refering 2 me: No… thank god!
I am refering 2 how some folks know how 2 “overlook” people’s personal shortcomings and find their message… when the message seems 2 b 1 of victimhood or placing blame elsewhere. Yet, when someone says 2 take a HARD look in the mirror… if they’re not Mother Teresa, they get shouted down. That’s all I’m saying.
If that doesn’t apply 2 u, then as u were…
@HF
There is difference the size of the universe. The rappers are not acting as if they are better ethically then the people that are at a lower financial level then them
Maybe you need to work on your criteria
@ Coop
Bill’s wrongs in his personal life outweigh the social ills that are destroying the black community?
What scale are you using? LOL
realwoman
Seriously..who over the age of 17 is taking advice from rappers?

But he’s damning the personal life of others.
glok9n:
Son, what did I tell you. Go back and GET YOU SOME EDUMACATION. You still sound like an ignorant buffoon. No one here takes you seriously. You see how many people are agreeing with me?
I have yet to hear anyone say anything about glok9n other than he’s a fake***** internet gangsta who happens to be illiterate.
PLUS, we know deep down you are a frustrated white boy from Iowa. BECAUSE NO SELF RESPECTING BLACK MAN WOULD EVER RESPRESENT HIMSELF THE WAY YOU DO.
Quit embarr*****ing our race. We are ashamed of you and your ilk. Since you are such a hip-hop fan, peep NYOIL’s new song. IT’S ABOUT YOU
@ Coop
He is trying to prevent the bad decision making of prospective parents in the black community. Talking about it helps awareness and changes the mindset of the next generation.
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
Well I’m sure David Dukes and G W Bush Jr. are right sometime.
@Coop,
You know what, when you’ve done all that Bill has done for our people, you get an F-in p*****. OK?
He can f-up in his personal life because he put the first respectable portrayal of black folk EVER on tv.
He can f-up because he’s paid for hundreds of black kids to go to college.
He can f-up because he came from nothing AND MADE SOMETHING OF HIMSELF.
He doesn’t have to be the d*mn pope to have a good message. OK? And yes, he is better than the people he’s talking about because he’s not poor and out of work. He doesn’t kill other black men. He doesn’t sell poison to our children. He doesn’t perpetuate negative stereotypes about our people. Before his show, we were coons and mammies on TV.
So for a people that give NAACP awards to R. Kelly and gangsta rappers, I think it’s safe to say we need help and are in no position to question a man like Bill Cosby. But you keep waiting for that Perfect Negro to come along and give you the right message.
damn bossip didnt even post up my comments. all i said to scoobie doobie was that booker t washington is all of what i see in Barack Obama. and W.E.B. Debois had “crabs in the barrel syndrome” to counter what he did.
sooooo you were right on point. Bossip *****suckers *****ed me off by the day censoring me.
@ts combo
He is promoting black self-hate and cl*****icism.
@ realwoman & @ others
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO: DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER???
So basically you are more interested in tearing down Bill instead of tearing down the problems in the Black Community???
TO EACH HIS OWN…
PS: I don’t run down Jesse or Al, both have done more good than harm.

Naw, what the crux of the debate boils down 2 is: practice what u preach.
If we call a moratorium on Bill Cosby’s speeches 4 failing 2 live up 2 personal standards in his OWN life… then o.k.
But let’s do it ALL THE WAY AROUND.
The next rapper that takes it upon himself 2 speak on behalf of the community while his pants is falling off on a world stage… he needs to shut up 2!
I’m not saying u felt that way, personally. I’m just saying if we’re going 2 scrutinize people who speak out on problems, then we need 2 eliminate the double-standards.
@Coop
GTF outta here? How is he promoting black self-hate? He’s promoting ignorance-self hate. He’s promoting laziness-self hate. He’s promoting irresponsibility-self hate.
It’s just unfortunate that when he speaks out against those things, you think he’s speaking out against blacks.
Black is not synonymous with ignorance, laziness and a lack of dignity. I am sorry that you *****ociate us with that. He’s not attacking me when he speaks, he’s attacking those that won’t do for themselves and make their lives better. And who better to give such advice than a man who came from poverty to get a BA, a Masters, and make millions.
I mean, who do you think is a better person to give such advice?
This man came up through REAL RACISM. Not some I can’t get a cab sh*t. REAL RACSIM. And he made himself a success and changed the way we were looked at on TV. If that ain’t worth respecting, then your priorities are out of whack.
@Common Sense
Did you know that in the past when he was ask about issues he took a p*****. Then when he decides to speak up it’s to divide us by cl*****.
Fat Albert was respectable? It promoted the Ebonics that he damns.
Oh so he can by us the same G W Bush has bought ministers?
There are a lot of gangsta rappers and drug dealers who came from nothing and made something.
Yes he hides his negatives in the closet and drugs women to rape them. So your point hide your dirt better.
You don’t to be perfect don’t point the finger without pointing it at yourself first.

AND HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT???
BY TELLING PEOPLE THEY CAN BE/DO BETTER???
BY GIVEING TIME, ENERGY, & MONEY TO SCHOOLS & SOCIAL ORGS., SO PPL CAN BE/DO BETTER???
CAN YOU EXPLAIN IT???
@Common Sense
Your a perfect example of how he’s promoting black self-hate. People like him will damn the youth for the choices they make and over look that they have done the same or worse.
On his spy show he did a great job of making us look like go old house ni**as.
I know that he is singling out blacks because that is what he say out of his own mouth.
@Bird>>>I have read your comments here and on another website and you ALWAYS have enlightening, mature comments that make a lot of sense.
@Coop
Again, who’s perfect then? Who CAN make such comments. You know why people attack the messenger? Because they can’t take the message?
I am still waiting for you to show me the fault in WHAT HE SAID.
The truth hurts baby. The truth hurts. But it will set you free. And our people need a hell of a lot more truth. But you go ahead and attack the man on questionable rumors of rape and drugs and such. You have no proof of that sh*t, but hey I bet you heard about it from someone at Morehouse, or read about it on the web.
@Bird>>>Your comments are ALWAYS on point. I’ve read your comments on another website, and they always so well thought out and mature sounding.
Sorry for the double post.
Since Bossip just keeps block my intelligent post I will do my best to summarize my greatest post I ever wrote.
1) Black people stop blaming white people for our shortcomings
@ Coop
The success that rappers gain is purely financial. That’s one of the problems of inner-city communities. Getting money by any means is looked at as being honorable even if you are killing your own with drugs and guns and leaving kids without parents. Being proud of a rapper/dealer because he has money, isn’t cutting it for us and it will get worse as long as we can’t hear the truth.
@ glok9n
DAAAAAAAYUM!!!
You wrote that like you MEANT it!!!
———————————————
@ Common Sense
YOU would be better off just stating YOUR own opinion & sticking to it!
Its good to QUESTION OTHERS point of view..,
BUT! The personal ATTACKS KILL your message & make YOU look bad!!!
—————————————-
OH! And don’t *****ODY compare what I just said.., to what BILL said…
I KNOW SOMEBODY GONNA HIT ME ANYWAY…
DAMN
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
I won’t listen to any of the 3.
When he goes to gatherings of black elites to talk about what the youth and poor are doing wrong he sure isn’t promoting unity.
5) Black parents leave our children to these streets that Cos is talking about and to hip-hop music/culture and TV to raise them. Black parents, single or both parents, have stopped teaching and raising their kids and getting in their business and caring at all. BE A PARENT!!! Raise a child in the direction that he/she should go and they will not depart from it!
Bossip is being REALLY selective of my post right now people. Trust! I got more to say. Believe that!
3) Black men should pull their pants up and stop adopting a prison trend that means you belong to another man and your azz is now his and *****ody else’s. And don’t wonder why you can’t get a job and why no one respects you. That respect that you demand and think you deserve. You don’t respect yourself enough to dress appropriately or speak clearly or in an understandable diction.
4) Black people need to take responsibility for ourselves and be held accountable individually for the decisions that we make.
@ts combo
We’ve been blaming the “distasteful People” for generations and things get worst not better maybe we need to point the finger else where.
@ Coop & anyone brave enough to answer…
Who do YOU feel is WORHTY to speak out about the problems in the BlacK Community???
Does ANYBODY meet YOUR standards???
Really curious to see anwers to this one…….
COMMON SENSE SOUND FAKE …WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING OUR PPL LIKE YOU TALIKNG TO WHITES YOU SUSPECT ….YOU NOT GONNA MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON A PC PUNK …STOP BEING A BYTCH ON THE NET AND DO SOMETHING IN OUR HOOD ……OF ONLY 500 BLK ON THE STATE OF WISCNSIN YOU FAKE BLK ***** YOUR THE CRAKA YOU SOUND PHONY AS ***** ! NOW STEP OFF YOU CREEP YOU COULD NEVER ADDRESS THESE DEAD BEAT FATHERS FOR THE FEAR OF GETTING STOMPED THE ***** OUT! COWARDLY HEARTED!
@Taz
3) A prison trend?
Stop believing Urban myths
4) Some blacks need to get their noses out of the air.
Here is something you and others should hear.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt9X1gvz728
DA TRUTH HURTZ! WE CANT LOOK FOR ONE PERSON TO LEAD US WE HAVE TO CALL ON THE ALMIGHTY WE ARE STILL SLAVES IN THIS MORDERN DAY SOCIETY AND WHEN BILL TRIES TO BLAME A CERTAIN GROUP OF BLK MEN THAT ONLY QUESTION, WHY KNOW? …YOU SEEN US HEADING THIS WAY WHY NOT STOP IT WHEN YOU WERE REVELANT?….THESE PPL BILL IS ADDRESSING , BILL WOULD NEVER EVEN LOOK AT IN HIS HAYDAY CAUSE HE WAS GETTING THAT LOOT AND WHITEY LOVED HIM SOO!
@Coop
What does pointing the finger elsewhere achieve? Huh? How does blaming others help us? I really want to hear your answer on this. How does saying “it’s not your fault” improve things? How else can the poor and the young improve their lives? The only way I see is to do it theirselves. But since you personal responsibility is unfair. Please tell me what you suggest and how telling someone that it’s the system’s fault improves their situation.
And also Coop. Please tell me WHO can speak? I honestly want to hear your POV on this.
And to the clown who thinks sounding intelligent is sounding white. That’s a shame. Good luck with your life son. Seriously. You will obviously need it with that attitude.
@Coop
Of course saggy pants is a prison trend. With all due respect, please do some research. Most people know that. Hell, we discussed it in Sociology cl***** in college. That sh*t is spot on. Where do you think all that gangsta rap culture comes from?
COMMON SENSE! COWARD, YOUR A REAL CLOWN YOU DO NOTHING IN YOUR HOOD SON BUT RUN YOUR PUNK ***** IN THE HOUSE AND TURN “MALCOLM X THE BLOGGER” …. YOUR A JOKE AND YOU HAVE NOTHING GOING SO STOP WITH ALL THIS PRO BLACK ***** …NIGGR IF YOU WERE SO CONCERN WITH MY LANGUAGE WHY DONT YOU ADDRESS THESE *****S THAT BE CALLING OUR BLK WOMEN W*****S AND *****Z YOU COME ON THESE BLOGGZ WERE YOU KNOW ITS A SAFE BET ….PROVING YOUR STILL A ***** EVEN BEHIND A P.C.
The message is on point…. period. We spend so much time trying to degrade our own people that we don’t stop,listen to and heed the message. White people don’t have to do ANYTHING to us any more. We will discredit our own kind for them, kill ourselves for them and then turn around and give all of our money TO them. Mean while as soon as someone you don’t like personally (but don’t know personally) says something of substance about Black struggle we **********inate his charachter. We need to collectively take our heads out of our *****es.

Why is it we’re slamming Bill Cosby for the same things we’re praising Barack Obama for?
@ glok9n
I know ONE person cannot LEAD us…
Thats not what I asked anyway.., all I asked was if someone could name a person(or persons) they approved of, who could speak to the ills of the Black Community.
ARE YOU SAYING NOONE SHOULD SPEAK???
@Common Sense
I didn’t say point the finger at others in the sense that your thinking I’m saying that problem may not have been the hustlers we’ve been blaming since the 60’s because even by sending them to jail by the truck load has not help in actuality it may have made things worse.
WE DONT NEED BILL AIRING ***** WE KNOW WE *****KED BLK WOMEN OVER AND IM A PART OF THAT MOVEMENT AND IM TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, I HELP MY SISTAZ, MY YOUTH IN MY HOOD WE THROW BABY SHOWERS FOR SISTAZ WHO CAN AFFORD IT, WE GIVE KIDZ BIRTHDAY PARTIES HELP SISTAZ WITH RENT MONEY IM NO DRUG DEALER BUT I GOT IT TO GIVE …THATZ WHY I LAUGH A CATZ WHO QUESTION MY BLK SELF! @glok9n
Wait don’t let black women off the hook there are a large number of black men that are behind in child support or don’t get to spend time with their kids because the mothers use them as *****s.
I KNOW ONE PERSON THAT COULD HAVE SAID THAT SAME THING AND PPL WOULD RESPECT IT ANY WHITE PERSON….CAUSE BLK PPL LISTEN WHEN WHITEY SPEAKS AND BELIEVE HIZ LIES!
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
I gave you several did you listen to the links??
I’m just saying this because though I’m not a fan of what he says, it bothers me that most of the stuff Mr. Cosby is reviled for, the same person would turn and say that what Sen. Obama says is the truth.
I am just getting tired of the double talk, say one thing in the hood, another thing in the burbs. People in the hood read, think and can speak eloquently. They don’t all sound like Mushmouth from the Fat Albert Gang and live like the bum from In Living Color.
This is why society doesn’t take the black community seriously, we’re not united. How can we expect others to respect us when we don’t respect ourselves? Look at the music that’s out there, the television shows, the movies released. Other ethnicities have people who demean their race, but they put up a united front, while we slam each other publicly.
It’s time to wake up, each one reach one. We should we working towards a common goal, we will either learn from our history or be doomed to repeat it.

WE WATCH THEM RAPE, HER AND DID NOTHING WE WATCHED THEM BEAT HER, WE WATCHED THEM KILL THE SEED THEY BEARED US AND DID NOTHING ….WE BLK MEN ARE TO BLAME BECAUSE NOW WE DONT EVEN WANNA A BLK WOMAN!WE HAVE SUFFERED FROM SELF HATE AND ITZ KILLING US!
@Coop
Seriously?
Ice Cube? Dyson? Killer Mike? Jay-Z(and I love the Jiggaman)????
You want to know why poor blacks are stuck? Because look who you just suggested.
Let’s ask Jews and Asians who they look to for answers. I can *****ure you it ain’t the Beastie Boys or Jackie Chan.
Oh, and glok9n. You want to know how people can improve their lives? Easy. Education. I’ve never met a brother who got good grades who isn’t living well. I’ve got plenty of friends from the “hood” who made it out because they studied and stayed away from the losers (instead of embraced a prison culture).
So actually it’s quite simple. Stop making babies, stop selling drugs, stop looking like a criminal and go to cl*****.
I’ve never seen that formula fail. EVER.
Study, work hard, present yourself well.
Quite simple. If you are willing to put in the work.
@Kelly
I feel you, but what reason do Asians, Jews, or Indians have to slam each other? Too many kids in MIT? They play too many video games? William Huang?
We got real problems that none of the other races have (other than latinos, and why the hell should we be fighting for last place with them)
In all seriousness. If you want to see the blueprint for how to make it in America look at the Asians, the Indians, and the Jews who came to America in the last 75 years with nothing and made themselves into success because of EDUCATION.
Until blacks emphasize education, all that other ***** doesn’t matter.
Until we look up to Stanley O’Neal and Kenneth Chanault more than T.I. and Tupac, we’ll be stuck where we are (I wonder if anyone here even knows who those two men are?)
@glok9n
I feel you but I also feel like the system abuses the good black men because of the bad and women use that to their advantage. Do I know some Dead Beats yes but I know way more that are doing “the right thing” but are abused by the system.
The system? How come none of the brothers I know got abused by the system? How come the system doesn’t destroy me?
How come Stanely O’Neal can become CEO of Merrill Lynch, or Barak Obama can run for president?
Why does the “System” let them through?
There are WAY too many brothers doing it, and doing it the right way for this “system” arguement to hold any water.
Rather it is Cosby talking to a group of wealthy Blacks or an ex-con talking to youth on the corner the truth in the message is undeniable. Read the message and forget the messenger. Stick to what is relevant.
@glok9n
Peace Brah. You asked about what can be done to get us out of this situation. We have to drop the European mentality that we hold on to like it is our own. You can’t consider yourself sane and follow a beast on a quest at the same time. Check out the Willie Lynch papers. This manifesto clearly gives the blueprint of how a slave was controlled. We have to literally reverse the effects of these methods of control by starting where the slave master started: the Black woman. You see, we were “broken in” in the same manner they used to break in wild horses (as written in the Lynch papers). To break in a horse you first seperate the male horse from the female and her offspring in order to remove the male’s dominant influence. Now all you have to do is teach the female horse to eat from your hand. Once you have accomplished this her offspring will be taught by her to do the same. Mean while the male horse cannot do anything to stop this process because he has been removed from their presence, except to breed (starting to sound familiar?). After the female horse teaches her offspring, they will teach their offspring and so on. Remember, her offspring includes male and female so that means future generations will eat out of your hand without you having to teach them yourself…..the female has done this for you. Slaves were “broken” in the exact same manner. Your question is what do we do? Since we know our Black women and children were targeted first then we need to concentrate on returning to them FIRST (in our right minds). There is no simple solution for any of this but it is my opinion that we cannot unite as a group until we unite as a family. Black men have to return as capable head of households. Provide for your family so they don’t have to eat out of m*****ah’s hand. I don’t think Cosby said anything much different than that.
@Common Sense
I think it’s Chenault and the Ceo of AX rubs elbows with some of the rappers.
COOP! TRUE INDEED IM SAYING BILL NEEDS TO ADDRESS WHAT GOT US LIKE THIS …NOT EXCUSING THE PPL WHO PUT US IN THIS SITUATION! BLAMING THE AFTER AFFECTS START AT THE ROOT OF OUR PROBLEM…..HE GIVES WHITEY A P***** AND BLAMES US !
@IlluminateTruth
If you talking to a group that already turns their nose up at another group of people how can you help them or do you really want to? At least the Ex-Con is right there to put his arm around those kids when he talks TO them and not talking AT or ABOUT them.
@Coop, thank for the spell check, but you still didn’t answer my question, or refute what I said. And the fact that Chenault has been in the same place as Jay-Z or Russell Simmons doesn’t change anything.
Again, you want the blueprint? Asians, Indians, and Jews. They don’t want to be the next T.I., they want to be the next CEO of Goldman Sachs. THAT is why they’ve left us in the dust.
Care to explain your system arguement?
Care to argue how getting an education isn’t the easiest answer to our problems? Or aren’t us African people made for education. Should we dance and rap our way to the top?
@glok9n
All I can say is Amen to that.
Truth?
Really? We can’t adopt the European mentality? Because that’s the same mentality Jews use. They’ve seemed to do quite well in a country that’s hated them for years.
Indians? Their mentality is a complete adoption of Britian, and they are dark like us. They’ve seemed to make it work.
@Ok Coop
So what does addressing whitey accompilsh?
Tell me? PLEASE…Because none of you ever can answer this.
Do you think Whitey will do something once we point this out?
All this does is make us feel better about our failures. Who has EVER been uplifted by pointing at whitey?
@ COOP
Point well taken. However, I just read his words and took them at face value. I did not stop to consider Cosby’s tone or his audience. You make a good point though. I’m sure the ex-con’s words might have more of a profound effect but I am also willing to bet there would be some that say “But he’s a convict, what does he know?” I just prefer to stick to the message. Trust me, I am not a proponent of Bill Cosby but I agree with his statements. If a convict said the same thing, I would agree with him too.
@Common Sense
Don’t worry I’m not going to leave you out
Did you even listen to the links they touch on everything we have been talking about even the sagging pants.
We are the only group that has our “leader” on TV trying to speak for us.
Education can help but it’s not end all fix all. determination is the key. It doesn’t matter if your a lawyer or plumber. I appreciate what you’re trying to say but education isn’t for everyone, but we can be determined to do better and that is the example that some rappers set. Do you think that every drug dealer wants to be in the hood for ever? And I’m not talking about the corner boys because if they weren’t on the corner some of them would be sticking up the corner store.
@ Coop
OK! I’m back.., had to do tha research!
I will give you Mike Dyson, he makes sensible points and is open to other peoples points.
My problem with people like Jay, Cube, & Mike is that although those raps & videos are very vivid, stirring and hold LOTS of truths…
ONE BIG TRUTH IS ALWAYS LEFT OUT!!!
BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL KILLING, RAPING, PIMPING, ROBBING, DRUGGING & GANG BANGING ON BLACK PEOPLE!!!
They seem to have a one-way view that “*****s can do no wrong”!!!
Kill somebody, sell drugs, do some pimpin??? CHARGE IT TO THA GAME!!!
There is no remorse… no, “…hey this is wrong, don’t do it…”
——————————————–
But I can see the logic to the other side to… “Don’t down your own Black People, without downing the white people”
———————————————-
The US against THEM angle has worked well to divide the Black Community.

Dang! And to think I give a testimony when I’m first.
Yup, thought so. Not one of you can refute what I am saying. Your silence is very telling…….
But I hope that the fact that whitey made it bad for us (which I wholeheartedly agree with btw) makes you feel better. Not one of you has explained how that will make us better off.
Not one of you has explained why the system didn’t take any of my boys down.
Not one of you can refute that all we have to do is adopt the education first mentality of Asians, Indians and Jews…
but go ahead, it’s easier to just agree with each other than prove me wrong.
@ whichever idiot I was conversing with earlier
Extricate is not “the” word. You meant extradict meaning a sort of eviction.
Extricate is a chemical process by which the useful gases are saved. That’s high school chem. So unless you are saying the black community is poisonous and you need to take to white land then you used a non-word.
@Coop,
No, Education is the answer. You don’t hear Asian kids going, “education isn’t for me” because their parents would kill them if they didn’t succeed. Same thing with Jews.
If you want to look at the people who succeed in this world, they’re ALL EDUCATED (pointing to the athletes, rappers, and entertainers who make up .0001% is BS).
And again, why have my boys, from all different cl*****es all made it? I am still waiting to hear why the system doesn’t swallow them.
I am still waiting to hear how saying “it’s whitey who put you here” helps poor blacks. IT ONLY WORKS IF WHITES WOULD THEN HELP OUT. But they’ve washed their hands of us and we are own our own. That strategy worked in the 60’s and 70’s. No longer.
So unless you are hoping that pointing out white oppression will induce white empathy, what the hell is the point of that?
@tj
to free or release from entanglement; disengage: to extricate someone from a dangerous situation.
2. to liberate (gas) from combination, as in a chemical process.
Nice try.
see above.

@Common Sense
As FDR said Now go out and make me do It
That what addressing whitey accomplishes.
You have to continue to put it in their face.
Instead people like O’Reilly and Limbaugh use his words as a platform.
@ common sense
The groups you named KEPT their culture AND have their own country. Our culture was taken and hidden from us. The theft of our knowledege of selves was probably the worse of the evils done to us in the slave trade. If you recently saw the mini-series “Black in America” on CNN they talked of a study that showed a Black man with a HS diploma and no criminal record will have a harder time finding a job than a Caucasian fresh out of the pen. That means just being Black in this country is equivalent to having one strike on your criminal record. I am not discounting the relevance of a formal education. Knowledge is power. We can coexist, be educated AND drop the European mentality. Where as we can learn a lot observing other cultures, you cannot compare our plight to theirs. Totally different cir*****stances.
@tj
You can’t come back 5 hours later with that BS……PUULLEASE.
See the commments of others above. The jury has spoken son.
You said “Extradite is not a word”
Again, nice try though.
@ Bird
I guess the heat got to hot for TJ. He has “extricated” himself from the conversation. lol
……….
Once again wrong usage.
@ Bird
I guess the heat got to hot for TJ. He has “extricated” himself from the conversation. lol

@Putting it in their face just makes them resent us.
You’re kidding yourself if you think that putting it in their face will change anything. Really, when was the last law p*****ed in this country to help poor blacks.
They’ve washed their hands of us. The sooner you realize that, the better. You live in la la land if you think you can convince whites they owe us something. *****, do you know that 75% of them want to get rid of Afirmative Action?
quote:
“extradite is not a word”
It took you 5 hours rationalize that statement. You didn’t say, “you mean extradict” you said “extradite is not a word”
Sorry man….
Common Sense
What you are saying is that you, like bill cosby feel embar*****ed by black people. This is to say you feel some vague and incessant link to people who look like you. Personal connection, even responsibility is okay with me but the embar*****ment factor only comes from fretting over an ostensibly white evaluation of black America, and by extension you.
I could care less if black people embar***** Bill Cosby. Bill Cosby should focus on “enlightening” the white people who see us as a monolith and keep charitable acts aside from personal private agendas with his country club set.
@ Common Sense
It’s called a job Boo… ask Bill Cosby
@Truth
Nowhere have I said that the system is not harder for us. Or that we don’t have to work harder, but life ain’t fair and this is our only option.
You don’t need a culture to know that Education is the answer. It’s funny, the African immigrants I know adopt the same mentality as the Asians and they also have succeeded significantly. In fact, at my college, over half of the black folks where children of either African or Carribean immigrants. They valued education and were repulsed by prison culture. Hence, they ended up at Ivy league schools.
@Common Sense
So then your down playing the blue collar worker?
That’s a great example of cl*****icism.
Some people can be a lawyer or doctor some only 4 years of higher education some only 2 some only a trade school some are just hard works. What am saying is that everyone can have determination in what ever they do and then may their children will have that next level and so on.
How do you think the civil rights movement worked they pointed their finget and showed the world.
@tj
IVY LEAGUE DEGREES???? With your statement about the word, “extricate” the only degrees you have are those *****ociated with your errant temperature.
Bill COsby is getting old and with his history of child rearage and scandal, I would think he would simply stay out of the limelight and just enjoy his days not irritating people, putting down people, and acting as if his house is impeccable.
“extradite is not a word”
I don’t need more than 5 seconds to know that is a false statement.
It’s ok boo, I won’t take away your two degrees. You made a mistake.
Unfortunately, white evaluation matters because they run this *****. Either learn to play whitey’s game, AND BEAT HIM AT IT (see Asians and Indians) or leave the country. Liberia and Sierra Leone are still taking freed slaves.
@ Common
No one’s advocating victimization. Bill Cosby is both saying two things at once and saying nothing at all. On one hand we have to stop relying on the white man, on the other we have to worry about what he thinks of us and acquiesce to the dominant culture which (whether you believe it or not) is still oppressive. His neandering ramblings do nothing but preserve his own identity as a role model while allowing him to verbally distance himself from people he butters his bread by being known to be a part of.
Furthermore he speaks in the most empty platitudes. I always find myself expecting a shout out of “Amen” or for someone to p***** me a collection plate when I hear him talk.
@Common Sense
And I think I know how you feel about Affirmative Action.
Well Indians and Eskimos have been given land that they can use to financially empower their own.
Common Sense where did you go and what year did you graduate?
Me Princeton 07
Columbia 08
@ common sense
Again, I know a formal education can help SOME but it is not the only answer. The only real subjects taught through high school are science and math. I don’t think it is a conincedence that less emphasis is being placed on these subjects in the Abbott school districts (read: Black community). Quite frankly some of the smartest men I have ever talked to were self-educated beyond high school and some of the biggest idiots I have ran across had a college degree. It’s not so much as what you know, it is what you do with what you got. You have a college degree? Good. Go back to the community and help fight the system that is in place. Help change a curriculum that is geared to teaching our children to p***** a state sponsored test, teach the truth in history and don’t teach it like a trivia cl***** (names and dates). Teach it using cause and effect. Stop teaching how to read using “sight words” instead of the tried true method of phonetics. Make it mandatory as part of the four year English requirement to take a cl***** in critical thinking (in order to improve free thought) and of course return to a heavy dose of mathematics and science. Since you have the degree and a strong conviction concerning education (again, I agree with you)would you take that challenge? Or just drive by a run down school in the “hood” and talk about how we should just get educated. Open your eyes…. especially the third.
@tj
Your coming in swinging.
Shaking My Head s-l-o-w-l-y from side to side.
*sigh*
I guess it’s easier to point out Bill’s faults (sticking our heads in the sand) and admonish the truth than to see it for what it is.
Some were comparing Bill to rappers. IMO–I think the difference between him and some of the rappers is the fact that he’s trying to be a positive influence within the black community.
To the blogger that typed that slick ***** about his son—
That was indeed a low blow!
The bible says to “train the child in the way that he should go–when he’s older, he won’t depart from it”.
I’m not an advoate for quoting scriptures but whose to say that because his son may have just got caught up; possibly battling his demons within himself? So every parent that has a child on drugs should just go ahead and blame themselves????!!!!!!
What you fail to realize is that parents will always carry a significant burden and some blame when their children don’t excel further then they or when they choose a life of crime, etc.
*sigh*
Another case of just shoot the messenger–right?! I guess that’ll solve all of our problems.
@Coop
You are working on an antiquated model. Whites and the world had a conscious about things then. IT’S OVER. I don’t think you know enough white people (or better yet, enough white people who aren’t bleeding heart liberals). White people are consistently polled and over 65% think there’s a level playing field and over 75% want to do away with Affirmative Action. Those numbers have RISEN since the 1960s.
With all due respect, because you are clearly a thoughtful and bright person. You are kidding yourself if you think you can EVER convince white people they should give reparations or that they owe something to poor blacks.
Hell, even young whites, who are trumpeted as blind to race by the media, they are against racial preferences by 65% and against reparations by 80%. If a society has moved against this trend for the past 40 years, what makes you think that pointing it out will help.
In fact, that’s exactly what Jesse and Al have done, and you couldn’t name me two brothers whites hate more (other than OJ and Barry Bonds)
@ tj

An inherently false and dangerous *****umption. You are basically saying that black people have to in some way “woo” the white man to gain socio-economic capital. This is precisely why education as been viewed as primordially white concept, despite its pan african beginnings. Black people are tired of taking *****. Many would rather play their own game (sell drugs, toss a basketball, run with a football) than the white man’s. America belongs to no one. Black people pay taxes just like everyone else.
I strongly doubt you went to an Ivy, and if you did you clearly stayed away from the African American studies courses, and works by West, Gates, Dyson, Hooks and so forth.

RIGHT! BUT SWINGING WHAT???
@1TruDiva w/The PlatinumVocals!!!
How him drugging women to have sex with them? You know rape.
@Coop
1) I am for Affirmative Action. So strike 1
2) Indians???? Oh man, clearly I am talking about Indians from INDIA. Native Americans are different.
Indians were under British rule for over a hundred years in INDIA. Honest mistake. Let’s move on.
@tj
1) I think the culture is racist and oppressive. CLEARLY! But not to the extent that a brother who studies hard, doesn’t look like a criminal, and stays away from losers can succeed. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE half of my friends have done this. Southwest DC, North Philly, Bed Stuy (the bad parts), etc.
So yeah, we have to learn to play by whitey’s rules because he dominates the culture, but we can’t expect ***** from him. Plain and simple.
2) I never give out my degrees online. I am embar*****ed by the mere fact I said I had an Ivy League degree. I think it’ tackey. That said, I know where you are coming from because a lot of what you said mirrors what I heard from many of my AfAm professors who had lots of blame to shuffle around, but not answers other than “we’ll get whitey to make it up to us.”
THEN, I entered the real world, and I realized they were full of it.
I imagine you might have taken Melissa Bracewell’s cl*****. Maybe Cornel West? All brilliant people, but not always the most practical. Prof. Gates is a little more my speed. But even we disagree.
@Illuminate
Bruh, I feel you, and respect all your saying. We agree on more than we will acknowledge, but on the cultural stuff, I think we’re going to continue to disagree. But trust, you opinion is respect.

So in away you’re advocating giving up.

FUNNY HOW SOMEONE SAYS AN IGNORANT THING…
AND WHEN THEY GET THAT ***** BUSTED!!!
THEY EITHER RUN AWAY…

ILLUMINATE TRUTH! PEACE BRO!!SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE EDUCATOR,TEACHER,THATZ WHAT IM SAYING BUT WHEN YOU SAY THATZ WHAT BILL IS SAYING IT DOESNT SOUND LIKE THAT …A LEAST TO ME …HE SOUNDS BITTER AND EMBARR*****ED BY THE BLK MALE TODAY!!! THIS IZ ALL PHOPHECY ,THINGS LIKE THIS WERE FORETOLD AND HIM BEING A DR.OF SORTS….. SHOULD HAVE BROKEN I DOWM FOR US TO HEAR AND ECEPT …RATHER THAN SELL TICKETS TO HIS FORUM ON BLKS!.
@tj
ease up on the Ivy *****. It’s pompous and frankly obnoxious. Look, you’re clearly intelligent, but given you did say “extradite is not a word,” you’d think you be a little more humble.
If you look above, you’ll see that your boasts of Ivy degrees has only served to induce ridicule from others on this blog.
More words of wisdom from date-rape Bill
@Coop,
How you can get ‘conservative’ from me, when I just said I am for Affirmative Action, is beyond me. Very few self-respecting Conservatives support AA.
I am actually very heavily involved in supporting Obama with $ and time.
Against the Iraq war. Pro-Choice, for legalization of drugs and prostitution. Libertarian maybe, but even then, I support higher taxes on the wealthy, so not really.
Sound conservatice to you luv?
@Common Sense
I knew you were referring Indians as in people from the Middle East/Asia because you said people that have come here in the last 75 years I mentioned Indians as in Native Americans because how they have been given a more level playing field no race in this country has been given the up hill battle of blacks. Others have been given their 40 acres plus why not us?
TJ COME BACK!!!
PLEASE MAKE UP A NEW WORD AGAIN!!!
OR JUST DENY A WORD IS REAL AGAIN!!!
I MISS THAT “IVY LEAGUE” COMEDY!!!
@ Coop
DID YOU SEE MY REPLY???
NO THOUGHTS???
@Jody
How do people over look that because he says “raise your kids” rape is the worst crime on earth if not it is in the top two.
I agree, we are due. And IF it were realistic. I would say HELL YEAH to reparations.
But that will NEVER happen. So as a pragmatist, I realize that we have to pimp the system. That means getting educated and getting paid. And you’re right, we can’t all be bankers, but we can work hard and instill those values in our children. We can explain that prison culture is not acceptable and that having babies at 14 is a disgrace. We can stop glorifying hip-hop minstrel shows that entertain white teens. You don’t have to be a banker or lawyer to do that.
@Common Sense
Hadn’t seen your reply on AA.
@Common Sense
I agree with you on that but not the Hip-Hop part the reason there is such a push against is because some whites are tired of their kids listening to it because it draws them to the black culture.
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
I didn’t see it I’ll go back and find it.
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
Then I’ll tear it apart.

Need I remind you that you claim an Ivy League degree. Is this your response to my inquiry as to which school you went to. If you really did go to an ivy you should have no trouble stating the college and year. So tell me oh great one who knows more about black people than Cornel West and professor Lacewell where and when did you acquire such bombastive knowledge
@ glk9n
Peace. I can’t even disagree with your points on Bill at all. I probably need to go back and read it with my third eye open a little wider. I DO still think that the Black man has to return to his right mind and then back to the Black woman. But yeah, Bill can come off as condescending and that causes people to tune out the basics of his message. Agree 100%.
The proponents of whites supremacy in America endeavored to justify slavery by saying that blks were uncivilized and not Christians ; they used this same rationale to justify white supremacy The blk ppl are decendants of a great ppl, a cilization that existed for thousands of years .The whites “uncivilized them ,us today and made us savages after bringing us here ;this purely meant that the political ,educational , and religious system in the United States brainwashed the blk male amnd stripped him of everything that was refined or virtous.Gradually ,they took away the blks history anguage and culture “COMMON SENSE”, DONT COMPARE US TO OTHER NATIONZ BROTHER, and prohibited them from learning to read and write .
@ Da Truff Hurts
Are you serious. I refuse to engage any idiot so genuinely uneducated as to provide himself such a perjorative counter-intuitive name.Fool you are knodding your head to subservience to the dominant culture with a name in straight up ebonics, and jabbing your jaws about education with a name that clearly signals retardation.
SMH. Your pic even has strong minstrel signifiers. So no, yes. I’m ignoring your dumb*****.
@Coop,
Hip-hop is poison to our community now. I don’t know how old you are, but it wasn’t back in the day. Once NWA came out, with a great piece of glorified street story telling, it started a trend. And now, that’s 80% of hip-hop.
No one said *****, no one talked about their gat before gangsta rap. Hip-hop defines trends and culture, and it used to be beautiful, but now it’s poison.
Just because we have Common, Kanye, and Kweli doesn’t matter because (as Jim Jones said) the streets think they’re corny.
If you don’t think this affects the attitudes of our youth, then you must live in a different neighborhood than me. I try and push Common on the kids in North Philly, or in Southwest DC.
All bout about two think that ***** is corny. But they LOVE the violent *****. When Kanye is a nerd and Jim Jones is REAL. That should signal to you there’s a problem with our culture.
@ tj
THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT.
NO INTELLIGENT DEFENSE.
SO MUCH FOR IGNORING ME!!!
In closing.
There’s nothing wrong with what Bill Cosby is saying. There’s nothing new about it either. Screaming it loudly and obtrusively serves no one’s purposes other than his own. Had he enlisted some new strategy or provided some unique insight on these old concepts (platitudes), or even (gasp) came up with an original game plan I would be far more receptive.
Why not talk about the poisons of christianity? Why not talk about white media interests in purveying these stereotypes as barometers of worth in African American males? Why not speak on pervasive materialism in general?
He won’t because he’s just as much a part of these oppressive systems and symbols as the victims and actors (drug dealers, rappers, dead beat dads etc)
@DA TRUFF HURTZ!!!
I don’t see it that way I see them saying these issues have been here not just before Hip-Hop but before most rappers were born. I don’t hear them saying it’s all good I hear them crying on wax. We don’t use the US against THEM angle. It’s really US against US. Other races have used the US against THEM angle with success and if we don’t watch out the Latino are going to do the same because they show unity at ever level rich or poor and they have the same issues and you don’t hear them on TV bashing each other.
ILLUMINATE TRUTH! I DONT HARDLY DISAGREE WITH YOU BRO CUZ YOU ARE DEAD ON ALL THE TIME, I UNDERSTAND CLEARLY WHY YOU ARE AGREEING WITH BILL AND IF ANY PERSON SAID THE SAME THING I WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT TOO…BILL IZ A SMART MAN BUT HE IZ BEING PIMP BY DR. POSSAINT …HE JUST WANTZ THE ATTENTION AND UPROAR TO START ….TO ADDRESS OUR PPL IZ NOT AN EASY TASK, BUT DONT TRY CALLING OUT BLK MALES WE HAVE NEVER SOLVED THE BUILT ANGER AND HATE WE HAVE ALL THESE FORUMS BUT WE NEVER TACKLE THE MAIN SOURCE!
@tj
Wow, you ARE pompous (And coming from my pompous *****, that’s deep).
I only said I went to an Ivy in response to you, and regret it immensely. Look luv, if you can’t look at what you just wrote at Truff Hurtz and see how self-impressed and obnoxious you come off, then I’ll wait for experience and the real world to humble you.
I graduated in the in 2000, and I’ll tell you that I too wore my degree as a badge of honor and thought it gave me license to talk down to others (now I just do it because I am a *****. Right glock9?), but as you’ll see, that don’t mean *****.
Again, when you said that, did anyone go ooooooohhhh wow, or did they go, “lol, extricate is not a word.”
You ever listen to Prof Dyson? He uses all sorts of big words where ***** it unnecessary and sounds like an *****. Your post to Truff reminded me of that.
@Glok9n,
Now why the hell do you post trash in all nonsensical caps if you can speak like that.
I disagree with you, and half of me would still like to jack you in the nose, but you have me apologies. I’d be a hypocrite for what I just said to tj if I didn’t say my bad.
Let’s hear more from THAT dude.

How him drugging women to have sex with them? You know rape
_____________________________________________________
If I understand this to be a question–meaning how about him drugging women?….
Please don’t misunderstand me! I am a woman and NEVER will it be acceptable for a man to violate a woman in such a way!!!!!!!!
My feelings are– You cannot take away from the fact that he wants us to be accountable (to ourselves FIRST) as a people.
I’m reminded of my twin brother’s reason to distance himself from church. His reasoning was that–all preachers are not honest, truthful, they don’t always practice what they preach, etc. My question to him was how to you separate the preacher from what you consider truth? Why should you forego your chance of redemption for the actions of others?
If we challenged the morales of every man or woman that’s only trying to show us what’s right well then, we’re truly a lost people.
Question–do you disagree with the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? You’d be surprised at some of the things he’s done behind closed doors but did those things make him less of an advocate for equal rights?
I’m just asking.
So Dr Dyson, Dr. West, and Professor Lacewell have no idea what they are talking about. (Wipes sweat from forehead) Whew! It’s a good thing we got you and Bill Cosby.
Oh and you’re arguments are far to surface based and simplified to be an ivy league grad. Especially since you admit to not being able to follow Dr Dyson. BTW how would you know he’s wrong if you can’t even understand. Stop the LIES!
COMMON SENSE ! THIS IS FUN IT KILLZ TIME AND I LOVE JOKING AROUND AND I LIKE BIG CAPS I APOLOGIZE FOR THE TRASH I SPOKE EARLIER WE MUST WORK AS A UNIT TO DEFEAT THE ENEMY AND US FIGHTING ONLY GIVES THEM AMMO TO ATTACK US …I WILL NOT BE APART OF DESTROYING MY RACE, PEACE BRO!

Actually, I will be the first to acknowledge you have made numerous good points on these posts. On the culture issue, yes we can agree to disagree. I have nothing but respect for your opinion regardless of mine. This thread has actually produced some of the better thought out posts I have witnessed on this sight. Informed and articulate debates are always productive regardless of what side of the fence you choose to reside. They provoke thought.

Spoken like a true soldier Brah. See you behind enemy lines. Peace.
@Common Sense
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and gangsta rap was around before NWA. Ever heard of Kool G Rap and “Road to the Riches”
I’m born and raised in DC and thing is with or without rap those things would still be here in the 80’s Hip-Hop wasn’t even big in DC and we had those issues.
I remember hearing someone mention how James Brown questioned Hip-Hop but they failed to realize that he had spoke of his hate for snitching and about beating his girlfriend. I also remember listening to Steve Harvey and hearing him talk about Hip-Hop and minutes later playing a song talking about heroin. And let’s not forget the song Bad Leroy Brown that glamorized Nicky Barnes and let’s not talk about the Godfather none of that is Hip-Hop.
@1TruDiva w/The PlatinumVocals!!!
But in away your excusing rape.
Peace everyone going to go flrt a little and then go hang out with the drug dealers and rappers. Jay-Z’s in town. The women will be half naked and won’t be because Hip-Hop made them do it. It will be by choice.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of us dont know our great history ,because our oppressors deprived us of that ,Bill know this;they distorted our history ,deliberately and systematically misinterpeted our history and flavored it with race predjudice in order to leave us with an inferiority complex.Self hatred results by lacking the knowledge of the greatness of our ancestors and the contribution that they rendered for the advancement of world civilization and the betterment of man kind.

People will find you intelligent by the CONTENT of you posts. I actually think you’re an intelligent person and believe you about your degrees, but from the looks of it, you’ve got a lot of others to convince.
If you think I went to Harvard or community college, I don’t give a *****. My degree is only part of the knowledge I’ve ac*****ulated and without further education outside the cl*****room (as you’ve demonstrated) it’s just a piece of paper.
Peace Family!

Once again, I’m impressed by the feelings and thoughts examplified in this post. It’s always refreshing to see that my people can articulate in a way that shows intelligence–whether learning from a book, cl*****room or down this path we call life–reading some of these posts gives me hope for our future.
**1TruDiva has left the building**
oops!
*exemplified.
A lot of people are jumping on Mr. Cosby’s case. True, he is from the old-school Civil Rights Movement. Being born and raised in Baltimore, City, as a Black man, Cosby make some strong points. It is sad that people rather live on “The Wire” concepts of Baltimore, (which was created and written by two White men), instead of showing a little listening skills to what Mr. Cosby has to say.
We are so quick to judge or defend ourselves against our own race, but when another race mentions, write, create, or make something about us, we’ll buy it, promote it, sell it, and respect it.
And, I am not no old head talking. I am a young man with some agreement on Mr. Cosby’s *****ertions on an inner city I know all too well.
Later.
Bill cosby should clean his own back yard before he criticizes others. He always speaks harshly about the black race which gets under my skin. Education is key to a bright future but their are other ways to get your point across besides chastising and pointing out flaws in the black community.
@DA TRUFF
You made T.J. run with her tail between her legs. She is a loathsome creature who always comes on bossip with her negative condescending attitude. She believes that she is above others and we are not within her reach. Extricate not a word. Please. I’m no Ivy league grad, but I knew the definition of extricate. I doubt if she will be back.
Cos tells it like it is to you breeder coons and you get suicidal at the prospect of giving up your SUV’s so you don’t have to live with Gramma, actually marry the person who co-parents your crotchfruit and give them simple, uncomplicated names. Imagine spending your money on things that matter and not on cheap-*****ed hair weaves and ridiculous jewelry and gaz-guzzling SUVs….listen the ***** up, y’all might learn something.
Bill Cosby is a hypocrite !
Bill Cosby is a serial cheater who has repeatedly hurt and humiliated his spouse and children.
Bill Cosby speaks THE TRUTH. And thank you Common Sense for following in his footsteps.
Black people take note!
It’s hard for me to accept advaice from a man who has two children who had drug problems, who has a habit of drugging his mistresses before he has sex with them and who had so many affairs, there is no telling how many outside children he has.
I agree with common sense concerning the education factor.
In today’s world education and the way you use it will provide you with respect. No one can take knowledge away from you. Yes a degree is “just a piece of paper” but that piece of paper will go a long way.
Coming from a south asian country that was once under British rule, our people were also robbed of self respect and dignity. We were made to feel like dirt in our own land. We dispersed to North America, Europe and the Middle East yet we habitually encounter racism. Everyone laughs at the “indian cab driver with the accent” or the “Apu that owns the 7/11 on the corner” but no one will laugh at his son when he becomes a lawyer.
Education is not the answer to all of life’s problems but it will get you places in life and offer a tool you can use to better your own community. Become a doctor, go back to africa and work for a couple years treating individuals that are dieing from treatable illnesses. Become a lawyer and fight for individuals who were victims of racial profiling. Become a sociologist and research ways to aid inner city youth. Education will empower you.
