    Yesss!!!! I loved Black Moon too! You are right about the mix of sub-genres, that’s what made it all so musically creative. It wasn’t all one big gimmick like it is now.

  • Glok… Amerikkkaz Blk Hitler ! !

    CARAMEL!
    IM GLAD WE HAD THOSE GOOD TIMES THEN,..CUZ ITS DEAD NOW ,..I STILL PLAY ALL THAT CHIT ,.SOME MIGHT HAVE SAID THEY WERE WACK BACK THEN BUT ITS ONLY CUZ OF THE COMPETITION…NOW YOU HEAR ITAND EMBRACE IT AND THANK GAWD YOU HAD IT GOOD BACK THEN ….I MISS IT TOO!

  • Caramel Cat™

    @Glok

    I hear you, and the main reason why people back then were saying that stuff was wack was because they were on a lower level of understanding music. Rappers were actually ‘talking’ about stuff back then and it wasn’t all about the beats or the track, but more about the melody and the lyrics. The music had depth, that’s why I loved the mix with jazz because it gave it an old school feel with new school content. Anyone remember that song called ‘Play My Funk’? I think it was made by some chick, but the beat to that was sick! All jazz instruments….

  • DreTruth

    I love him and I am hoping GOD has mercy on him in the mighty name of Jesus.

  • Tiffany

    OMG!!! I cannot believe this!!! I listen to “Royalty” everyday!!! It’s my anthem! That was the song that they did with Jodeci, well, K-Ci and Jo-Jo song the hook! But I used to loooooooooooooooved Gang Starr and this is so upsetting to me! Guru, you are in my prayers…God Bless.

  • DC Cj

    God bless!

Timberlands, baggy jeans, Headphones, and a book bag, freestylin in the cold rotating a b.l.u.n.t in a cipher.. Girls could rock Tim’s and baggy jeans too and would not be labeled a d.i.k.e. with there large hoop earrings, and dark lipstick and a shell choker.. Those were the days.. My prayers go out to you Guru you are a true Trailblazer for Hip Hop..

    Okay! yes! you named all the heavy hitters. And, I loved it when girls could dressed relaxed and baggy and not be labeled as a d.y.k.e. You could add your femininity in the areas you named: hair, jewelry, make-up, but the clothes could just be chill….ahhhh, those were the days!
