Black folks have worn weaves and wigs for so long that they can’t believe it when a black woman has long, healthy hair that actually doesn’t come with a store receipt smdh lol. Sade is British-Nigerian, she has got what is unfortunately termed “good hair” akin to that of Alicia Keys so yes, that is her hair.

Bun? What bun? Sade is known for rocking a ponytail. Furthermore, I don’t think that is her hair on the cover. I’m sure she has some length, but judging by the flatness of her ponytail I don’t think it’s that thick. She is beautiful no matter how you slice it.

Why is it whenever a Black woman has long hair people think it’s fake? It is her real hair!!!! Sade has always had long hair. My hair used to be almost to my waist and I had random idiots giving me weave checks to see if my hair is real or not. I had to cut my hair of because it was damaged from relaxers, and hair dye. I’m natural now and I’m growing my hair back down to my waist and I’m going to try to get it to my butt.

I can’t stand when women do those ‘weave checks’or ‘track strokes’… it looks so ignorant on THEIR part for thinking that a black woman can’t have long hair. Now Sade likely has the texture of hair that grows fast and creats its own oil, but there are women out there with ‘nappy’textured hair that can actually grow long hair…smh…

like sade i also prefer to wear my hair up even though i have long hair. i don’t like it in my face and i like they way it looks when it is off my face. the only time i have my hair down is when i have just come from the hair salon. wearing my hair up also means that i can go ages without getting a relaxer, i get it done once every 3 months and i still have long, healthy hair. sade looks great either way

Yeah my hair texture is a mixture of kinky, curly and wavy. It’s wavy at the roots and the shaft and the ends kink up.

This hair thing just won’t go away. Why does it matter if it’s her hair or not? I have followed Sade for years as so many have and she has always kept her hair back in a bun or pony tail to give the look of long hair but it was obvious that her hair was not that long. Visit Somalia, Ethiopia, Brazil, etc. and you’ll see hundreds of black women (light/dark-skinned) with beautiful, long thick hair down to their waistlines.

It still amazes me that some (operative word being “some”) people express surprise that a woman of African descent can have natural hair of a certain length. I went to a Dominican salon this weekend, and it was full of sisters with long hair that was all theirs (no “store receipt,” to borrow someone else phrase, lol).

Coincidentally, I saw the cover of the latest O magazine, and Oprah is still wearing her hair down, and it’s thick, past her shoulders, and all hers.
