@Ara, shes been in the business for like 8-9 years. The Neptunes produced her entire first album Kaleidoscope, which is a fantastic record. She never really made an impact in the US before Milkshake, because her sound was said to be too “unorthodox” for TV and radio mainstream. Just goes to show how dumb and close minded America can be. She got a lot more love overseas, because in places like Europe u can be innovative or original and be appreciated.

I hate when people say she is going out of her way to look a certain way. Obviously she dresses ‘differently’ than others, no matter if you catch her on a red carpet or in LAX. Come on. Accept that she has her own style that many of you haters couldn’t pull off and that she is beautiful.

Kelis marches to the beat of her own drum, which I think is fly as hell!!! So given that fact, alot of people will not be on the same page with her musically or fashion-wise, so many of the posts are expected. I dig Kelis for wanting to be different when everyone is trying to mock Beyonce and Rihanna (when they have in fact swagger-jack hella artists: Beyonce = throwback of Tina Turner, Rihanna = Kelis haircut and style), and for trying to lead her own style even though many won’t follow. The outfit is interesting, but its typical Kelis (not anyone else) – so for that reason, I think she looks fabulous!!!

i feel kelis’s original style choices. however she does take things to an unnecessary level at times. I feel the get up, but she needed to lose the jacket. That was a bit much.

This is horrible. Kelis looks sick, depressed and miserable. I love originality and creativity but this is not that. First it was the pic of her looking unwashed in the airport and now its this tacky thrown together s-h-i-t she’s got on. She needs to take a minute to herself and just deal. No photo ops, no contact with the Haters, just go home for a minute and get her mind right. She’s got a nice blended heritage, the music she’s making now is not the only market she has roots in. Getting dropped from a label is not the end of the world.

but mostly its the confidence with which soldiers and sailors carry themselves. confident without being cocky. a promise of strength, but not a need to prove how strong they are. they also tend to have a strong sense of honor and family that women, most of whom are nesters by nature, find very attractive.
