He chose all the wrong singles. “More” and “Rockband” should have been the single. “Daddy’s Home” was weak…that would have worked for Trey Songz. Plus, Trey is not dominating R&B; he is dominating R&B radio which means the programmers have allowed to take over the airwaves. The fans say otherwise because with five singles out, he is barely approaching gold status. Usher and his label are to blame for their poor choices in singles and his relationship with his mama.

I like Trey Songz and im glad he’s getting recognition but he hasnt taken over anything but the radios. His album was released last summer and just reached gold status with 7 singles out. So of course he’s going to be all over the radio. People say that was successful. Um that is worst than a flop. The only reason Trey is getting alot of shine now is because the spot was left open because Usher was going through his issues and he didnt release the right single and Chris Brown was going through his issue. Best beleive if Chris didnt go through his situation Trey Songz would’ve been in the background. Once Usher and Chris get their stuff together they will be back on top.

I am seriously wondering how people compare Usher to Trey Songz. Now Trey Songz and Bobby Valentino maybe. But Usher is a no no. Usher has more talent and can dance circles around him. Trey comes off as trying to do what others have done before him. In neighbors know my name we all know he was trying his little hardest to sound like R. Kelly. Now that’s a fail. Usher has longevity in the music business and can always have a career. He just needs to get back to the basics. Meaning working with his old team and get that chemistry back and just let it flow.

Trey Songz is not the issue with USHER.

Usher is just irrelevant now. He killed his own image and people know more about him than they needed to know. And things change. Usher was never Michael Jackson and he never had a really strong image to begin with but he killed what image he did have by becoming more tabloid than pushing musical boundaries. Usher is just out of step and he got into his own “HYPE”.

His X-Wife may have been an issue with his fans but if you are going to jump into something a serious as marriage. Have children. Then just divorce the mother of the children then expect female fans to still be into you …you’re just not being real. Michael Jackson did not really dive into the crazy stuff until his music and image went as far as they could go and he was over 40. Usher is a case of too much too fast and not being able to keep up.

Anyway, I think there are a mixture of factors. It will be hard for him to top Confession which sold 10 milli…Trey nor Chris is topping that feat. Confessions also came after a break up with Chilli, who is also beautiful and has her past TLC popularity. Usher just needs to do Usher and he will be happy. The label may not be happy because they want him to sell millions but he may not have a multi-platinum selling album ever again due to the music scene and illegal downloads. The man is 30 years old, he can’t sing about stuff as if he is 22 anymore. His last album had more mature content and seemed pretty decent to me.

Trey is dominating the radio and has a steady fanbase but he ain’t running nothing. His voice is superior to Chris Brown’s but CB has the best showmanship. He headlined a show in AZ this past weekend w/ 9,000 concertgoers. According to twitter, folks were chanting his name even before he came out on stage. The “mainstram” public may not be receptive to him but CB still maintains a strong fanbase and has regained his “urban” music cred back with the In My Zone mixtape. By late summer/fall he will do another statewide tour and I think he will be able to easily fill up 2000+ venues.

U all have to stop bashing Usher and let him live. Bet, MTV, Urban, Youtube still play and talk about Usher like crazy. Nobody in a million years will ever unseat Usher or R.Kelly. Usher has been doing his thing since the 90′s and had higher sales than CB,Ne-Yo, Omarion, Justin Timberlake, etc. No one will ever replace Usher. Superstars have their troubles, Usher is still a great man and awesome and why are people still playing and downloading U got it bad, Yeah, U make me wanna on itunes which are really old, b/c Usher is well remembered all over the world. Honestly, Usher has been living foul for a minute. From the fake marriage to the arranged divorce. God don’t like ugly. Thought I am not one to judge, “Let thou without sin cast the first stone,” I still feel like if Usher lived better, treated others better and loved himself a little more, it’d reflect in his music. 8701 was my fav Usher album. Confessions was definitely a close 2nd place. He needs to find himself, and then put together music that comes from his Soul.

…This is retarded. The album is due out Mar 30th. And he has 3 singles charting on many billboard charts. Plus, he just performed at the Olympics to good reviews. His last album went gold in the first month of its release. Trey Songz just went gold last week after it being out for a year already.

Trey or Tameka has nothing to do with it. I think the people to blame are the record execs and Usher’s team. I think some people are more interested in who Usher is or isn’t sleeping with than anticipating the release of his album. I don’t think the execs really know what to do with him because so much of his personal life has been played for the public to see and some of his songs for the upcoming album have been leaked.

I do think Usher can make a big comeback if he has the right team of people behind him and the label having more confidence in his abilities as an artist.

You can NOT compare Trey Songs to Usher! I dont is it just me or does everything Trey Songs does sound like stuff R Kelly did 10 yrs ago? Usher is one of my favorite artist. Here I Stand was wack and I think he knew it, thats why he is trying so hard to suceed with his new album. I hope he releases it cause I cant wait to hear it!

Im not even a die hard fan but I have to sat that Chris’s album Graffiti especially the deluxe version was his best yet and it showed alot of growth as an artist. It wasnt as appealing to the US because it wasnt his typical album. He showed his versitily by having tracks for R&B, HIP HOP, and POP. It’s not doing good here but overseas is where it’s succeeding and that’s why this summer he’s doing a Worldwide tour because of the overseas success.

I have to agree with a few commentors on the board…Usher makes disposable music…it’s not timeless enough to keep the fans that grew up with him to still enjoy and just not catchy enough to get the newer younger audience. I was never a fan like that but I did like a few of his songs, when I heard “Papers” I was too through …found it immature, irresponsible and just dam selfish….I have no interest in supporting an artist that is ready to air out his dirty laundry just for some dollars…it was very disappointing to say the least…with that being said, I think Usher time has come and gone…not every artist has longivitity ablility, he just happens to be one of them, unfortunately.

To me Usher is like Boyz II Men, Trey Songz is like Jodeci, in two different lanes, Usher has crossover appeal, while Trey has the hood on lock. They both can me successful.

The only reason why Trey Songs is even relevant, is because R.Kelly is old and tired, T-Pain has gone away and we are tired of the Vacoder/box, and there is honestly no one other than Mario (which I was disappointed in after his first release “Break Up” which was hot). So the male R&B pop game is wide open, unlike the female game (Gaga and Beyaki).

Usher could had tried to nail this with good tunes and songs that are relevant to the game, other than trying to cash in on his personal life and making his wife and mother the scapegoats in his life. Not to mention jumping in on that weak az z version of Trey Songs/Keri Hilson, “Invented Sex” was the stupidest thing he could had done while releasing his album…SMDH!! I am a Usher fan from the beginning!
and it hurts that his career is over.
But, i have to admit that Usher is not like he used to be. He is still fine, he’s a great singer, perfomer and he’s a nice guy ( i met him in person)
But still there something way boring about him!! not interesting anymore.

Here in Holland they never play songs from Trey Songz, only on the RnB stations…
Usher is in Europe still a populair artist.

I do think Justin Timberlake destroyed his career! Ever since Justin is a solo artist Usher’s career has gone bad.
And I have to say that Ne-yo is to me a better artist. These guys write there own songs, produce there own records.
Ne-yo recently gave a concert over here, and it was soled out 2! and he was the best.

Maybe Usher should get a new record label, change his image a bit, and he should get The Neptunes/Pharrell to produce his new album!

I REALLY WISH PPL STOP BLAMING TAMEKA IT IS NOT HER FAULT THAT HIS CAREER IS ALMOST OVER. I don’t know what happen to him and his sound but he doesnt sound like the same man that wrote Confessions and his albums before. Can’t blame Trey cause he is doing his own thing. Usher has to look and evaluate hisself.

Trey is okay for the time being……but he does not have staying power….. we can only take some much of his tongue! Usher’s music has not grown; and that is why his fans/me are tired. He looks and sounds foolish trying to keep up with the listen and forget singers.

Usher’s first mistake was blaming the last albums sales on his wife. If Usher would’ve “maned up” and taken the good with the bad the last time he wouldn’t be experiencing this now. Now he’s 30 or approaching it and trying to compete with the likes of Trey songs, I am of fan of Trey and own all his albums but he doesnt hold a candle to Usher. HERE I STAND is by far the best Usher album recorded and released however because he wasn’t man enough to stand up and say ‘Thats my wife, you may not agree with my decision but I love her and we’re going to make this work’ he would’ve gave respect and possibly a new legion of fans however he chumped up and has lost incredibly. Until Usher puts on his grown man hat and does what Usher does as an artist he won’t be nearly as successful as he was before. He tried to use the press to his advantage by releasing a song like PAPERS but it was him who destroyed their marriage and not the other way around, so therefore no one brought the bullshit.

Trey Songz is not taking over the R&B game. His last album been out for 7 months now. He released “Ready” on 8/31/09 and as of this week he only sold 554,400 albums!!!

Sade’s “Soldier of Love” sold more in one week then Trey Songz sold in 7 months!!!!

The reason why Usher’s album is being pushed back is because the singles he recently released were garbage. “Papers” and “Daddy’s Home” are horrible. I’m sorry. Usher is almost 30 years old. All of his fans are now older and a bit more wiser and they aren’t going to run out and buy bullsh!t. He needs to step back, relax, take some time off and put out some real good music.

And stop blaming Tameka for Usher’s failures. It’s not Tameka’s fault that “Here I Stand” didn’t sell as good as “Confessions”. Nobody put a gun to his head to marry Tameka’s “16 kids by 15 men azz”!!!
