The body of a 24-year-old woman who attended a birthday party for the rapper Lil’ Kim on Sunday was found Wednesday on the roof of the Midtown karaoke club where the party was held, the police said.

The woman, identified by the police as Ingrid Rivera of Queens, was discovered shortly before 5 p.m. in a utility closet on the roof of Spotlight Live, a live-music venue, nightclub and karaoke bar at 1604 Broadway near 49th Street. An investigator said they believed the woman had left the party and was beaten with a blunt object — possibly a Champagne bottle — and left for dead.

The police said that she was last seen on Sunday night and was reported missing on Tuesday.

The investigator said the party for Lil’ Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was attended by many musicians, actors and other entertainers.

The actress LisaRaye McCoy-Misick, who is married to the premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands and is a friend of Lil’ Kim’s, attended the party, and said in a telephone interview early Thursday morning: “When I was there, everything was cool. But we didn’t stay very long. Celebrities never do. And everything was fine then.”

The investigator said that the killer was probably familiar with the layout of the building because of where the woman’s body was found. Emergency medical workers *****ounced the victim dead at the scene, the police said.

The official cause of death would be determined by the medical examiner’s office, the police said.

Outside the nightclub on Wednesday night, under the bright lights of Times Square, tourists p*****ed slowly and gawked. They pulled close to the police barricades that stretched halfway down the block.

“We saw the police and the cameras and we were asking ourselves, ‘What is up?’ We thought maybe it was a premiere,” said Paolo *****o, 29, an engineer from Rome. “A dead body is not so exciting. It’s horrible. And it’s horrible that lots of people are so curious about it.”

He added, “We were looking for somebody famous.”

Late Wednesday night, Lilly Macmonhele, 21, from Kerry, Ireland, who said she had been at the club the previous night, remarked: “This is really crazy. Everything was perfectly normal. We were singing karaoke. It’s insane.”

A note at the front door of the club read: “Spotlight Live will be closed 8-6-08 due to cir*****stances beyond our control. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Early Thursday, about 12:15 a.m., investigators emerged from the club carrying a white box with red letters spelling out “evidence.”
