Yes, the color blue on the sistas was to represent sister Hattie McDaniel. First Black and woman to win an Oscar. Hattie McDaniel wore blue that evening when she went to accept her award. She faced serious discrimination and couldn’t even sit at the Oscars or the dinner parties back in 1939. Hattie McDaniel won for “With The Wind.”
