Perhaps if Matthew had been working as hard to promote Solange, in a different way than Beyonce, she could have possibly come close to Beyonce in popularity. Just my opinion although I know the Bey stans will disagree.

Honestly it sounds ok, but I think a lot of people are just tired of her getting so many opportunities and there are so many much more talented artist out here busting their azz who and can’t get one break/opportunity. It’s not her fault. I think she would get more respect if she did some back up work or something to show that she has earned whatever shine that she’s getting.

I agree with you. I think Solange is a better singer/songwriter than Beyonce but she didn’t and still don’t have the promotion Beyonce has. It’s not about talent in music anymore. It’s about promotion…the team you have behind you…etc.

I feel her tune>its easy going and smooth, I like it but I can foresee/hear her hookin up with a ragggae artist and singing more sexual songs!!!(sounded like Bey at the start tho)

THis is definitely some trip-hop-style music showing that Solange wants to go her own way. I respect her for that. But this isn’t really a strong effort. She sounds like Beyonce trying on Bjork’s shoes.

This sounds good. Sounds like Sol finally found a niche for herself. She just needs to stop sounding like Beyonce but I that’s probably a tall order. They’re sisters after all so it’s not unusual that they would sound similar. It’s hard growing up in the shadow of a successful family member. Still, I like it.

Kinda reminds me of Portishead. I didn’t know Solange was that esoteric. Good for her. Hope any influence she’s getting from Erykah Badu rubs off as well. Sounds like she’s keeping good company. Poor girl’s trying so hard to find her own voice. I’d love to see more black people branching away from standard r&b and hip hop and embracing other genres and sub-genres.

It’s okay, but needs more tweaking. It sounds unfinished.

But with more refining,it sounds like a track on a Hotel Costes, Cafe del Mar or Buddha Bar compilation.
