People, calm down. Tyra Banks is not the editor-in-chief of this magazine. I guarantee you she didn’t come up with this idea, she just happily went along with it.
I see it as a cute way to model career wear, instead of the usual boring spread with a model “jumping in the air” in a wrap dress or slacks.
Kudos to Tyra for making that money and keeping her name in the news.
I believe some of these bloggers need to lighten up, I mean you just can’t be uptight about everything. It was a joke, and I doubt that the Obamas’ take offense to any of this. This is a great experience for all black americans. I mean do people even realize how great this is. The first black president hopeful, ever. People are excited and anxious, and proud all at the same time. So I’m glad that people want to live in the moment.

Vaughn’s research shows Jefferson was not the only former black U.S. president. Who were the others? Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. But why was this unknown? How were they elected president? All five of these presidents never acknowledged their black ancestry.
Jefferson, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809, was described as the “son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father,” as stated in Vaughn’s findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all do*****entation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people.
President Andrew Jackson, the nation’s seventh president, was in office between 1829 and 1837. Vaughn cites an article written in The Virginia Magazine of History that Jackson was the son of an Irish woman who married a black man. The magazine also stated that Jackson’s oldest brother had been sold as a slave.
Lincoln, the nation’s 16th president, served between 1861 and 1865. Lincoln was said to have been the illegitimate son of an African man, according to Leroy’s findings. Lincoln had very dark skin and co***** hair and his mother allegedly came from an Ethiopian tribe. His heritage fueled so much controversy that Lincoln was nicknamed “Abraham Africanus the First” by his opponents.
President Warren Harding, the 29th president, in office between 1921 and 1923, apparently never denied his ancestry. According to Vaughn, William Chancellor, a professor of economics and politics at Wooster College in Ohio, wrote a book on the Harding family genealogy. Evidently, Harding had black ancestors between both sets of parents. Chancellor also said that Harding attended Iberia College, a school founded to educate fugitive slaves.
Coolidge, the nation’s 30th president, served between 1923 and 1929 and supposedly was proud of his heritage. He claimed his mother was dark because of mixed Indian ancestry. Coolidge’s mother’s maiden name was “Moor” and in Europe the name “Moor” was given to all blacks just as “Negro” was used in America. It later was concluded that Coolidge was part black.

While I know that some things have hurt Obama’s campaign–like Rev Wright and Ludacris’ song, I don’t think that Tyra’s photo shoot will hurt them. At the same time I hope people don’t go overboard with all this attention on the Obama’s as a couple. Let’s focus on him becoming our next president. I actually think that Tyra is a smart business woman: just because she makes jokes does not mean she’s dumb. She’s filthy rich, still in the news and on TV, and she hasn’t been a top model herself in years-so she must be doing something right.

Benjamin Banneker served as a fill in president for a very short period of time but was never listed as an offical president I heard about this a long time ago but yeah I was wrong about him being on the 2 dollar bill.

Six other presidents were elected after him – Elias Boudinot (1783), Thomas Mifflin (1784), Richard Henry Lee (1785), Nathan Gorman (1786), Arthur St. Clair (1787), and Cyrus Griffin (1788) – all prior to Washington taking office. Why don’t we ever hear about the first seven Presidents of the United States? It’s quite simple – The Articles of Confederation didn’t work well. The individual states had too much power and nothing could be agreed upon. A new doctrine needed to be written – something we know as the Constitution.
George Washington was definitely not the first President of the United States. He was the first President of the United States under the Constitution we follow today. And the first seven Presidents are forgotten in history.

What is on the Back of the Two Dollar Bill? The back of the $2 bill has an engraving of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the image is a man who has dark skin and wearing a powdered wig while sitting at the table just to the left of the men standing in the center of the engraving. This dark skinned man is John Hanson in his position as president of the continental congress. In the original painting hanging in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, the dark skinned man does not appear!!!
Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents have since been required to use on all official do*****ents. President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today

With so much of our history gone from us their could be more that we don’t know about I’m just glad to know that alot of us do know a lil about our history but there is so much more that is missing that white america don’t want us to know about but we have to read our history a lot of our black book stores have the key to alot of our lost history that’s where I go to read up on things.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s funny how they rewrite history and make it seem like certain things never happened. It’s like that saying, ‘If you want to hide something from a black person, put it in a book’ or something like that. That’s why we have to educate our kids. I will make sure my children know the truth.
I dont think this is wooping it up or being overly presumptious, there have been several publications in the past where a model type does editorials of the possible first lady, if that first lady is very stylish.
Matter of fact plent in have been done for Cindy Mccain and white people are not up in arms about that, Tyra photos lack a little genuineity (looks forced by her) other than that I think their quite cute.

I am once again coming out of “lurk” mode to comment. I am extremely close with one of Kim’s sisters through her father and I am 99.99% sure that Alexis isn’t Kim’s child. A couple of years ago my nephew loved him some Raven. I looked all over the web and ebay for pictures of her. I visited one of her fan websites. They had a picture of her and everyone was saying that she was pregnant. Their were whispers that she was “engaged”. **sorta kinda like Brandy and Robert** She said that was the last season of her show…but the last season was taped almost a year in advance. It sounded really strange. Then when I saw her later on Punk. She really looked pregnant.I wouldn’t be surprised. The alcohol must have really jacked up the “common sense” section of her brain because I’d like to think that if she’d been sober she would have either done some promotion or had the sense to not bother. To watch her squander what she’s got is just ridiculous, she could have done so much.

I can not see how you can take one quote and make comments about someone. If any one bothered to read the entire article it was 5 pages long, in which Tyra was celebrating the powerful couple. The last paragraph of the article is the one used here, but if you read the article it appears that Tyra was trying to say being First Lady is stressful so she would much rather get a cheeseburger.
