Guess The Fugged Out Furry Legs…

Posted on March 9th, 2010 - By Bossip Staff

Categories: Guess the..., News, SMH

These furry legs were spotted running as far away as possible from wax, razors, and Nair. Damn, this is an easy one!!

For all you ‘slow people’…pop the hatchy-poo to see who it is…

You already knew it was Mo’Nique and her fuzzylumpkins!

  • Shellboogie

    Ok, now that you are Oscar winning actress; please shave your legs.

  • ♥Kenra♥

    Shaving your legs has always been a “white” thing to do. Most black women dont shave anything but under their arms.

    Legs are optional.

    Who cares if she doesnt shave her legs??

    Why do we care? Are we hittin’ that? Are we sleeping with her? Nope.

    Let the woman live.

  • Sweetest Taboo

    C’mon son! Shave them jawns…

  • Mannie

    I am a man and I find that to be absolutely DISGUSTING. THAT IS A DISGRACE, maybe she has risen her self-esteem some because she lost a little weight, I hope she doesn’t think that she is fit now, BECAUSE SHE HAS A LOT MORE TO GO.

    YUCK MONIQUE SHAVE YOUR DAMN LEGS, THIS MAN WILL NEVER LOOK AT YOU THE SAME.

  • drenk

    MAYBE her “man” enjoys hairy legs

  • I’m Better Than Everyone !!

    I don’t think it’s that big a deal..All the guys commenting go look at your mom legs..girls talking you are a bunch of liars..better yet every one who’s saying it’s disgusting go eat a D&*k…Go fatty you got you an Oscar now.

  • BlackIsTheNewSexy

    Whats so disgusting about hair??? YALL VAIN A** AMERICANS NEED A DAMN REALITY CHECK…what if there were no chemicalize products like nair and ish or razors, wax and all that other BS? It is natural to grow hair on legs head face arms and so on THATS HOW GOD MADE US…HATE IT OR LOVE IT…..its up to you how you choose to want to wear the hair thats on your body. HOW STUPID TO JUDGE SOMEBODY BCUZ THEY HAVE HAIR ON THERE LEGS…THATS ALMOST AS STUPID AS JUDGING SOMEONE FOR HAVING HAIR ON THERE DAMN HEAD. That just goes to show that ur a typical person thats use to typical things. sadly everything and everyone aint TYPICAL. or VAIN.

  • Full Moon

    A-WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

    Too many damn TABOO’S in this world….whats unnatural to many is natural to MOST.

  • John D. Hater

    ANY MAN WHO LIKES HAIRY A$$ LEGS I’M SURE DOESN’T MIND A HAIRY A$$ NUT SACK BOUNCING AGAINST HIS FORHEAD!!!

  • ♥Kenra♥

    THANK YOU DRENK!

    Shit, men dont like fake hair, but ya’ll birds wear it anyway, right?

    Who cares!!! My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He- is eight years older than me, lol. anyway i knew who this was b4 continuing further.however she did say in an interview her man loves it lol. im guessing being that he is *how you doing*, to him it probably feels like being with a fat man in bed . her hair & makeup look good.

    CHEWBACCA LIL SISTER!

  • Lady A

    I’ve had hairy legs since adolescence, in HS I shaved because I was on the dance squad but there were other girls who were hairier than me and didn’t shave and they looked fine, and they had boyfriends who didn’t mind. I still shave but I know if I didn’t my husband would not mind a bit,I had a co worker whose 9yr old sister shaved, thats a bit much. I think if Monique wants to leave her hair as is she should. Most of us would not care if the mainstream wasn’t so dead set against it.

  • Sydney™

    “Shaving your legs has always been a “white” thing to do. Most black women dont shave anything but under their arms.

    Legs are optional.”

    I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with this statement. When did “shaving” become a “white” thing to do? Legs absolutely are NOT optional. The sight of legs, arms, et cetera, blanketed with hair is disgusting and unfeminine.

    Waxing is another alternative for women who want to keep their body parts clear and smooth.

  • ♥Kenra♥

    Wow.

    The comments (besides Rhianna and Drenk) show that most of your IQ’s are probably in the double digits.

    This woman can do whatever she likes. I’m sure that there is something about you that no one likes.

    Get off your high horse. You’re not dating her, so find a woman who shaves her legs and STFU.

  • pwetty

    @kim

    i agree, shaving makes me feel feminine and clean. i couldn’t imagine walking around with hairy legs

  • ♥Kenra♥

    @Sydney:

    So, you’re not feminine if you dont shave your legs?

    Explain that theory.

    Or maybe, thats just your opinion.

    Not everyone has to think and do like you.

  • ♥Kenra♥

    Ugh….I gotta leave.

    I’m allergic to stupidity in the morning.

  • Lady A

    R SOME OF U PEOPLE DUMB AS HELL, WE HAVE HAIR IN THE PLACES THAT WE HAVE IT FOR A REASON, HAIR ACTS AS A NATURAL FILTER, EVEN ON YOUR LEGS SOMETIMES, IT COULD BE THE REASON MANY OF US DON’T GET AS SICK, BECAUSE THE HAIR IS FILTERING OUT THE GERMS AND BACTERIA. CMON YOU FOLKS ACT LIKE YOU WENT TO HS AND HAVE A LITTLE EDUCATION.

  • BigD

    She doesn’t shave so that her “husband” is happy. The man is a straight-up homo and wants to keep his chick looking like a man as much as he can. This idiot needs to wake up, pronto.

  • Sydney™

    @Kenra

    “So, you’re not feminine if you dont shave your legs?

    Explain that theory.”

    It’s not a theory — it’s the truth. We can just put it to a test. Men, do you prefer hairless or hairy legs?

    Also, I would like an explanation of shaving legs being a “white” thing. I honestly had never heard of that.

  • Britchick91!

    STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS NOW ITS GETTING OLD

  • ♥Kenra♥

    I mean, we could do this all day.

    Men, do you prefer natural hair or fake horse hair?

    Most will say natural, but you still see birds with yaki in their head trying to pull it off as real.

    We all have something that someone doesnt like.

    Its a pretty simple equation if you ask me.

  • Buffy

    If Monique does not wish to shave her legs, then she should not wear dresses about the ankle. No one wants to see Sasquatch in a dress. Yuck.

  • http://okaythen naw naw

    I THINK HE KEEPS HER LEGS HAIRY AND HER RELATIONSHIP OPEN BECAUSE SHE KNOW HER HUSBAND PREFFER MEN AND NOT WOMEN

  • ♥Kenra♥

    Okay, aight.

    I’m done.

    I’m not about to debate over hairy legs and not hairy legs.

    LOL

    I feel my IQ getting lower just entertaining this. Everyone, do you and keep it moving.

    ‘I say its a white thing, because all of my life, I’ve went to suburban schools and have been around white girls all of my life.’

    Women of all races shave their legs. And, most men prefer it, but I’m sure you know that.

    ‘Personally, I shave my legs because I was a swimmer, and it made you move faster in the water. So, I just kept it up. I keep my legs shaved as well as other parts because I like to feel smooth and sleek.’

    Are you sure about that? I sense strong emotion and aggression from you.

  • DMO

    By the way men who like women with hair are not men, they are h o m o s in training. Why you would want to put your head in a nice pair of breasts with a patch of hair is scary. Just go head and come out the closet.LMAO

  • Ms.ViVi

    Its a known fact in the industry that her husband is BISEXUAL! So of course he like him some hairy legs. I bet you that she used to shave her legs until she met that man!!!

    Anyway, I just can’t with her.

  • http://bossip necey

    I never shave my legs and I am 24. I am not a hairy person. My eyebrows are thin underarm hair barley exsits I only have to shave my pits no more than twice a summer. I have hair on my legs but it’s so thin you can’t see it. On the other hand my best friend is hairy like Monique and I didn’t know nothing about shaving until I spent the night at her house on day, we had to be in middle school. I found it strange she had to shave every day. As I grew I understood why. I do not shave but if I was hairy like my friend or like Monique I would deffinetly.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    my bad, i thought i read its a white thing not to shave thats why i typed what i did earlier about the europeans. look its morning my eyes are buggin lol.
    as far as *sydney* i rarely if at all read her posts. but i did happen to read it now, and she sounds foolish. shaving is a preference. it doesnt make someone unfeminine or unclean. i dont shave certain areas of my body because im not a kid (if you get my drift).theres no need for my privates to be bare.im grown wtf.
    i think men that prefer it to be shaved need to be questioned. maybe they are a pedo. as far as arms legs etc. i just started not shaving my underarms. im not less feminine than the next person. and my hygiene is on point.shaving doesnt eliminate odor.ive smelled plenty of people who are shaved and have bad hygiene and are funky.
    get it right homegirl
    …I think some women are able to carry their ‘hairy-ness’ better than others….
    LOL! Pray tell?
  • Why?
    if Monique’s man is such as homo as you ghetto queens continually state, what is the world saying about the dude you dating? Probably the same thing.. STFU people, those are her legs, if women werent meant to have hair on their legs then I am sure it wouldnt GROW, apparently, being that we are mammals, HAIR is a part of our anatomy.
  • Caramel Cat™
    “and sydney if you do things for your man as oppose to doing it for yourself.”
    No, this is part of what I was taught is good grooming, but I’m not going to pretend as if I’m not aware that a number of men do not find excessive hair on a woman attractive. If you have enough hair on your legs to braid, that could be viewed as a tad unsightly.
    So, again, yes, shaving is a personal choice, but it is not a “black” or “white” thing. There are plenty of sisters who do it regularly.
    I didn’t start shaving the hair on my legs until I was around 18. In the military when we wore our BDU’s (camouflage uniforms) we used to bloused our pants legs. If I had any hair on my legs it would make it feel very uncomfortable hence the reason I start shaving it off. Now it’s just a habit to shave my legs, but I don’t knock anyone who doesn’t.
    People shaving is not just for vanity!
    Hair holds on to germs and bacteria. You should trim it off every once in a while. If you knew the truth about what your hair holds on too…whew! You’d want it shaved to.
    There really are health reasons why it should be done too.
    Girl, I know what you mean and I am fully aware of that, especially regarding the private area and I also understand the armpit as well (holds odor et cetera), but were you refering this comment to those areas or to legs?
  • Mock Rock Star
    @Mickey OK that might have been a tad bit mean…what I should have said was: U are delusional to believe there is a god. I’ve talked about this plenty of times before. God is just a concept and a very tacky and outdated one…kinda like betamax. I love how people tell me how can I not think there’s a god when I look around and see the trees, water and ect…U know nature. I think, how can I believe their is a god when I see babies thrown off bridges, real life Preciouses and people’s lives being taken away by earthquakes and such. There are only people and nature…no god. Oprah has been hipped to it, that’s probably one of the reasons she’s so successful and hopefully Monique is starting to see the light. The bible only speaks about “a rich man will not make it to heaven garbage” because they wanted to keep people poor and destitute and the main people who keep falling for that lie hook line and sinker are black people
    Poom poom or wee?????? How old are we right now?!?!? Grow up. For those of you who keep harping on the black/white issue (no surprise), I agree that whites have more of an aversion to body hair in general. However, only OLD SCHOOL BLACKS don’t shave. And if you don’t shave your legs I can only imagine what that bush is like. And Kenra, I have also grown up around whites all my life. I don’t use that as an excuse to not shave though.
  • Ms.EJ
    @MIJDC- Yes, she said it was a very painful experience for her, but she didn’t go into detail as to what made it more painful. I use to shave years back, but didn’t like the little spots it would leave(like large pores), so I Nair now which doesn’t hurt me. I’ve heard waxing can be painful, and that laser is the least painful and the hair grows back much slower. I personally, think her husband is on the “zesty” side, so, if true, I can see why that doesn’t bother him (could be a reminder of things he likes), but some men don’t mind and do like hairy legs. *shrugs shoulders*
  • MochaDreams
    I agree with the people who said leg shaving was really just a “white” thing. Black women have just seen it as an necessity for the past couple decades (90′s into 2000) or so. I know growing up, I can’t say I remember ANY of the Black women I was around (mom, 8 aunts, and family friends) shaving their legs back then, and to be honest, most of them didn’t have enough leg hair to really have to. Unless a prominent attribute from White/Native American ancestry, Blacks just don’t have as much body hair as Whites and Other races (actually, East Asians don’t seem to have much either), and you can look that up. Our adaption to the shaving process is just evidence of our influence from the FAR western world.
    Now, am I saying that we shouldn’t? No, not at all, and taking care of those underarms is a must. However, I would say that it is important for us to understand that many of the habits we practice in this country do come from the “White Man” so to speak.
    P.S. – Monique has been looking fab knee up, and I do think she would look 100% better if she would shave.
  • LovelyWomen
    if your wearing a dress she should shave her legs! that’s not cute, but if she likes it and her husband loves it then that’s what matters
  • Ms.EJ
    At least she is not sporting a mustache. I’ve seen several women happily sporting a mustache both younger and older women and they refuse to shave or laser it, because “it will only grow back thicker”. I can understand if folks took issue on that. I think mustache on women and chest hair is an issue.
  • Caramel Cat™
    @Ms.EJ
    I’ve actually seen a beautiful woman (nice body, face, hair and fashion sense) walk around with sprigs of chest hair as though it’s nothing…There are a population of people (men and women and likely not many of them) who see nothing wrong with hair on the body…it’s really interesting…lol
  • Ms.EJ
  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!
    I feel the same way. I think shaving your legs is`a matter of choice. What did people do before Nair and other products like that? Did they use straight razors? I don’t think so? Maybe some did but not the majority. Were they any less clean? I don’t think so either. Once you shave you have to keep shaving because the hair grows in thicker and some people don’t want to be bothered. I think it’s`a vanity thing. I could care less. I don’t have a lot of hair on my legs, it’s very fine and I refuse to touch it. Mo’Nique could care less about what we or anyone else thinks. That’s what I love. She’s making it on her terms, like Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi refused to conform and has won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award all on her terms. I applaud that rather than condemn it. I say to Mo’Nique, “Do you, Boo” and F anyone who doesn’t like it.
    I’ve never shaven my legs, but that’s because I don’t have any hair on them….THANK YOU LORD…I know some girls that had no hair on their legs but shaved because they thought it was the thing to do and now that hair grows so fast and thick that they have to shave almost twice a weak….Monique and her legs are her business, but if I had her money I’m sure I could afford that laser treatment that gets rid of the hair…I’M JUST SAYING
  • Caramel Cat™
    @MIJDC
    Again, that’s just a guess that I am making to be fair. Just because people don’t conform to how you believe they should be doesn’t mean you have them all figured out. Every man I have dated, including my husband likes a woman to be smooth, and I’ve practiced being this way this my whole life. But I think it’s a little abrasive to label men who may not have a problem with body hair as ‘gay’…I don’t think that’s a fair a.s.s.essment…that’s all
    @SYDNEY- Girl, I see I had no idea that many people felt so strongly towards hair on a womans legs and although I don’t rock that hairy leg look, I just don’t think it warrants so much anger…IDK…I just think that things we should get upset over (that can change our lives for better or worse) we don’t and things that are trivial (to me though) we do. *scratches head*
  • Sydney™
    @Caramel
    “‘The One’ by Dolce & Gabanna…”
    I’ll have to try that one. Spring is a good time to explore new scents. :)
  • Real Talk
    I remember some years back when MoNique first talked about this she said it was a B-More thing. The females saying it’s a white girl thing to shave legs gotta be from the south cause in the south it’s nothin to see attractive women walking round with enough hair for braiding in their armspitts and the legs is a no go too.
    But I do think its mostly a white girl thing to shave the forearms and other races should check that cause some chicks be having some hairy a$$ forearms.Being hairy def not agood look with Monique or any female but I wouldnt tell an attractive chick with a lil armpit shadow or a few forearm hairs to go 1 herself but hairy legs or not I’m not feelin MoNique
  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!
    @ Sydney and Caramel Cat–
    I might be ol’ skool but I stand by my DKNY Cahsmere Mist.
  • Caramel Cat™
    @Sydney
    You won’t be disappointed…my bottle is almost empty and I bought the BIG one…lol
  • Caramel Cat™
    @1TruDiva
    You can never go wrong with Cashmere Mist…
  • Ms.EJ
    @SYDNEY- I use to have “Chance” it smells so good and I also like “Miracle” by Lancome. Everyone has told me that JLO “Love At First Glow” smells something wonderful, but I haven’t smelled it yet. I can’t do anything that is berry or has a fruity smell to it AT ALL, but nice light scents like fresh out the shower soft scents, but that can last a whole day. I make it a point to buy sets, apply lotion and perfume while my skin is damp.
  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!
    @ Caramel Cat–
    You’re right. I like it because it’s a day or evening scent.
    The lotion smell absolutely amazing!
  • Sydney™
    @Ms. EJ
    “@SYDNEY- Girl, I see I had no idea that many people felt so strongly towards hair on a womans legs and although I don’t rock that hairy leg look, I just don’t think it warrants so much anger…”
    I didn’t think so either, but, apparently, I was wrong.
  • ***JUDY***
    Monique needs to shave her legs plain and simple……dont look good.Sidney dont care cause he aint looking at her legs,he’s looking at her pocketbook.
  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!
    I used to love Victoria Secret products but now it seems as if everyone and their mother uses the stuff.
  • Caramel Cat™
    Lancome makes a perfume called Poeme and it smells really unique…
    **wondering aloud**
    Do they still make T.u.s.s.y deodorant?
    What about Right Guard and Brute?
  • Caramel Cat™
    @1TruDiva
    Do they still make T.u.s.s.y deodorant?
    ~~~

    Ok, that stuff was downright fonky! My aunt used to wear that mess and she was one of those people who didn’t shave her pits….yuck!

  • Ms.EJ

    @ITRUDIVA- Me too girl, but their scents are too fruity for me anyways. The ones I had were like vanilla cream scents.

  • Caramel Cat™

    On a positive note I think Mo’Nique’s hair, make-up and outfit look really pretty in these pics….

  • Ms.EJ

    @ITRUDIVA- I never heard of tu-s-s-y but the name alone make it seem like it would stank. LOL.

  • Sydney™

    I think I just lost the comment I posted. *sigh*

    I wrote that I consider certain scents to be c-l-a-s-s-i-c-s that you could never go wrong with, such as DKNY, Chanel No. 5, Oscar de la Renta (one of my mom’s faves), etc.

    @Real Talk

    “I remember some years back when MoNique first talked about this she said it was a B-More thing.”

    Never heard that. Interesting.

  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!

    Ms. EJ–

    Mac makes good makeup but it seems to me everytime I see women with Mac, they HAVE to let you know it’s Mac.–”Girl, let me put on some more of my Mac lipgloss” or, I just can’t live without my Mac foundation!”

    WTH????????

    And some chicks that wear it don’t take the time to consult a product consultant or either that person tells them they look beautiful when in fact, they look as if they should be laying in a casket!!!!!

    Personally, I like BB products. IMO, they’re geared more toward AA women.

  • Ms.EJ

    @CARAMEL CAT- Monique always has her hair and makeup looking right to me. I love the look of thick hair, too.

  • Sydney™

    @Diva

    LOL, my mom used T*u*s*s*y, and I didn’t like it. I think she may have eventually switched to another brand. I like Lady Speed Stick.

    I used to wear MAC products all the time, but I started to feel like I was a celebrity who had to be ‘on’ all the time and my face began to resemble cake. I wear cheap drug store make-up now…looks just as nice and keeps me from spending all that EXTRA money when going to a MAC counter….

  • Caramel Cat™

    Bye Diva!

  • Sydney™

    Diva, is BB Bobbi Brown?

  • I don’t believe it

    her legs don’t look bad-they look fine. but people have become such body fascists-even tho she has explained that she finds it PAINFUL to shave her legs-people insist that she conforms to society’s ridiculous ‘norm’

    Remember Avon’s deodorant?

    My grandmother used to make me use it. I put it “downstairs” one time and thought I saw the devil himself!

    Lol!!!

    See ya!!

  • Wendy

    Oh No…That is a shame, she knows better than that to leave the house with furry legs..I have to admit this is kinda funny too but now that she is a Oscar winner, she has to step up her game A.S.A.P.!!! No more furry legs!!

  • Ms.EJ

    @ITRUDIVA- I hope I didn’t come off that way, if so, I apologize, but I know exactly what you mean. I’ve heard Nars and BB are really good. I like MAC eyeshadows and lipgloss and lipstick, but ALL should get to know their skin undertones and see what colors looks best for them.

  • Caramel Cat™

    I never cared for Fashion Fair make-up either. Many of their colors were too vivid and pasty looking….

  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!

    @ Sydney–

    Yes. I love BB products.

    OK… I’m out for real this time!

    See ya!!!

  • Caramel Cat™

    @Ms.EJ

    Now, I do love NARS make-up. Their lip glosses are the best thing since sliced bread!

  • Ms.EJ

    @CARAMEL CAT- I wore a variet of drugstore I mean way before I even knew about MAC, but MAC is the only one that works well with my oily skin. I always wear light makeup, but it looks very natural or really just liner, mascara, gloss and maybe a little blush every so often. I found that when a person puts on alot of makeup it looks cakey or clown like, that is just too much.

  • 1TruDiva w/the PlatinumVocals-I’m just too good to be true!!

    @ Ms. EJ–

    Y’all just won’t let me leave will ya? Lol!!

    No, sweetheart. You’re too sweet to come off that way!!

    I was referring to women around my way.

    You know the type!!

    See ya!

  • Caramel Cat™

    @Ms.EJ

    Yeah, I just found myself wanting to wear MORE make-up when I wore MAC. I don’t know if it’s because they try to up-sell you all the time and have you try out different shades and products they have. But, when I buy simple Revlon or Cover Girl makeup at the drug store, I typically know what I am looking for and don’t get caught up in the hoopla! lol…I understand what you mean by the skin type though…they do make some very good products…

  • Ms.EJ

    bye Diva!

    variety* typo

    @CARAMEL CAT- Nars and Mac are just too expensive, thankfully I was able to get some MAC products as a gift. I will get one more lipstick (which will make two) and that’s it. I haven’t tried their gloss (Nars) will check that out to see which one I’ll get my final and last purchase, but my birthday is coming up, so my dear friend already asked me what I wanted from Mac or whatever :)

  • Sydney™

    @Diva

    “@ Sydney–

    Remember Avon’s deodorant?”

    LOL, yes, I do. My mom still uses some Avon products. Doesn’t Reese Witherspoon have an Avon perfume now? It seems like every female celebrity has one.

    @Ms. EJ

    I love MAC lip g-l-o-s-s-e-s, too. I think the line has some of the best colors for women. Chanel has some nice colors as well, but they’re much more expensive.

  • Butterscotch™

    What really cracks me up is that her eyebrows are “cleaner than the board of health” – arched, filled in with pencil/powder, the whole nine yards. They appear to have been plucked or waxed. But she doesn’t want to shave her legs? LMAO!

  • Ms.EJ

    @ITRUDIVA- Okay, girly just wanted to make sure, because sometime it may sound good in my head, but may come off different, but good to know :)

  • Sydney™

    @Caramel

    “I never cared for Fashion Fair make-up either. Many of their colors were too vivid and pasty looking….”

    My mom has always used Fashion Fair cosmetics, and I think it’s more than using a certain brand of makeup — She likes supporting a black-owned business. I’ve noticed that a number of women of her generation and older were/are also devoted to the line.

  • MzTee

    Who the hell cares whether Mo’Nique shaves her legs or not? It’s a matter of personal preference. Mo’Nique’s personal preference is NOT to shave her legs. If she shaves her legs will it improve the economy, stop folks from having their houses foreclosed, decrease the nation’s unemployment rate? NO…Bottom line, in the overall scheme of things…Mo’Nique having hair on her legs doesn’t affect our lives one bit.

    I swear we black women can sometimes be our own worst enemy talking about extremely trivial things. Instead of celebrating Mo’Nique’s recent career accomplishment — winning an Oscar — mofos on are on here commenting on Mo’Nique’s hairy legs. Really people…is that all y’all can concentrate on. (SMDH)

  • Yah Yah Yah, Get Out My Face

    I need to bust one.

  • Ms.EJ

    @SYDNEY- Girl, what are some of the glosse that you have? I’ve actually learned how to rock some glosses from youtube tutorials from different complexion of black women for colors that I thought might be too much or loud.

  • Sydney™

    Hi, Butterscotch :)

    I think Loreal’s H.I.P. line is also very good in the lower price range.

  • Caramel Cat™

    @Sydney

    Very true, alot of older women did show loyalty to it. My mother never cared for it but she was friends with many women that did wear it. All I remember buying from Fashion Fair was some lipstick that they ended up discontinuing…I loved it, it was called ‘Teak’…

  • Man, I just don’t care™

    @CARAMEL CAT
    “Again, that’s just a guess that I am making to be fair. Just because people don’t conform to how you believe they should be doesn’t mean you have them all figured out. Every man I have dated, including my husband likes a woman to be smooth, and I’ve practiced being this way this my whole life. But I think it’s a little abrasive to label men who may not have a problem with body hair as ‘gay’…I don’t think that’s a fair a.s.s.essment…that’s all”

    @Ms. EJ

    I like pinks and earth tones, so one of my favorite g*l*o*s*s*e*s is Pop Mode by Mac, and I just bought another called Ornamental. I like the Vino and Chestnut lip pencils because they go with a variety of colors. I also layer different colors at times, depending on what look I’m going for. There’s another mango-ish color I like for the summer, but I’m forgetting the name of it, and it’s not in my bag.

    What about you?

    “Hi, Butterscotch”

    Hey, Sid! (big wave)

  • Ms.EJ

    @SYDNEY- Girl, on the tutorials and reviews for Loreal HIP it seems very pigmented and pretty colors, but I can’t do anything with shimmers (due to oily skin) I have to get matte nothing that has sparkle in it, but I’ve heard and read great reviews on Loreal Hip. I’ve been looking at Costal Scents too, but too much shimmer, I have nice small collection for spring look/neutral everyday look.

  • I’m Just Me…Keeping It Real Since: 1983. 38 Days. SHANI DAVIS ALL DAY!!!

    HEY Y’all back from lunch.

    I kind of caught up.

    My perfume is Tommy Girl!!!

    And Versace Red Jeans.

    I cannot wear too many perfumes because I have sensitive skin. Cheesy ones like J-Lo, and Brit Brit break me out. So i used a variety of Vicki Secret’s body sprays (pear and endless love being my favorite).

    Does anyone recomment a certain brand or flaovr of body spray? I am tired of the same old same old.

  • Sydney™

    @Ms. EJ

    “@CARAMEL CAT & SYDNEY- Okay, I never cared for Fashion Fair (thought it really catered to older women)…@SYDNEY-SO TRUE! many did support, because it was black owned.”

    Yes, my mother grew up during a different era when they didn’t have the cosmetics choices that we now have, and she still subscribes to Jet and Ebony out of loyalty. What I personally think hurt Fashion Fair was that, for whatever reason, it didn’t/hasn’t caught on with a number of younger black women. I sometimes refer to it as the Fashion Fair-MAC generational divide.

    @Butterscotch™

    “My grandmother, mom and all her sisters do as well. I prefer Bobbi Brown, but understand what it must have been like to grow up during the 60s, identifying with Fashion Fair and Eunice Johnson in Ebony, one of the only major publications around for Black folks then.”

    Absolutely. It was a different experience for black men and women who grew up during segregation and black businesses were flourishing.

    I only use the g*l*o*s*s*e*s and eye shadows (which I love). My skin is very sensitive, so I’m careful what products I use on it. I don’t use any foundation — just Prescriptives powder.

    Love H.I.P. products! You get a lot of bang for your buck. In drugstore brands, I also like Revlon for eye makeup and Neutrogena for tinted lip balms that I wear a lot in the summer. On the department store level, I tend to gravitate toward Bobbi Brown, NARS, MAC and Chantecaille…but will try anything if it works for my skintone.

    @SYDNEY- I have foundation the oil control one from Prescriptives (where I learned my skin undertone which is yellow/orange), I use to wear it mostly back in 2005, but they have great range of color over 260. I do have a powder MACs mineralize natural matte skin finish.

    @ Soulful Tea

    Just stop it okay.

    This is a gossip site. Here for gossip. We talk about everyone here. It helps us get through the work day.

    Why do people say we are stupid and that. Why do you take a GOSSIP site so seriously. None of us are.

    Sounds like you are the silly one, expecting people on a Gossip site to be bowing down and worshipping like she is the Lord Almighty. There are more positive site out there that just speak on the wonderful, great and amazing things about black people in the media.

    This site isn’t one of them. So you need to move along.

  • Sydney™

    @Ms. EJ

    Prescriptives discontinued the foundation I used to use, so I just stopped using it altogether. Now, for the summer, there’s a bronzer that I think Bobbi Brown makes that I would like to try to get that nice, dewy look.

  • Sydney™

    And I love Neutrogena products — the sesame body oil is a must-have for me.

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- Yes, the same for me mines was “real ginger” now they only have “ginger” :( In addition, they are going out of business.

    It seems that the really good products even some for hair either they discontinue or change the original ingredients.

    @EJ

    “In addition, they are going out of business.”

    Yes, they are, and I don’t know what I’m going to do, to be honest. When I find a product I like, I stick with it, no matter what.

  • msej

    @BUTTERSCOTCH-I know that’s right. I just want to get back to my cute summer sandals and summer color nail polish, lol. I love fresh flowers!

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- That’s how I am and the fact that their foundation was excellent and had oil control which worked wonders for my skin even in keeping it clear for the most part. It never fails, I will say that I tried Revlon Colorstay and its pretty good, but nothing beats your original one that fit your skin just perfect.

  • Sydney™

    @Ms. EJ

    Now for nail colors, I love OPI. :) I love flowers, too. Pastels and flowers.

    @Butterscotch

    I think I’ve seen the Fresh line in Sephora.

    “Now, for the summer, there’s a bronzer that I think Bobbi Brown makes that I would like to try to get that nice, dewy look.”
    ___________________________________________

    Yes, the Bobbi Brown bronzer is good. You may also want to try her shimmerbrick product. It comes in a variety of shade ranges, and it looks fab year-round. You just swipe a little on the points of your face that the sun hits (temples, bridge of nose, etc.) and your skin has a nice glow without being too shiny. I always get compliments when I wear it.

  • Sydney™

    @EJ

    “@SYDNEY- That’s how I am and the fact that their foundation was excellent and had oil control which worked wonders for my skin even in keeping it clear for the most part.”

    Yes, it was expensive, but I used to buy their custom-blend foundations. I liked having a color specifically designed for my skin tone, and it never broke me out.

  • msej

    I’m so jealous of you two, LOL…Sydney and Butterscotch…I would love a bronzer, but no matter what I try my skin gets oily after three hours and such things will only highlight that. I’ve tried just about everything, but at least that means I won’t wrinkle easily, so that’s a plus. My nose gets the most oilest and forehead.

  • Butterscotch™

    @Sydney™

    “I also tried a hair cream that Ms. EJ posted about one day (the mango hair butter).”

    Who makes it?

    “I just bought an Alter Ego hair oil from Amazon that I’m waiting to arrive”

    Alter Ego products are awesome and they smell amazing! My hair stylist uses some of their products.

  • Ne Ne aka iB@S

    I want to know which method was she using when it was so uncomfortable and painful?? Was she plucking the hairs out with a tweezer…im just sayin…cuz I didnt have any problems…and when you shave for the first time…your legs are so smooth!

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- Not yet, but funny you asked, because I was just speaking to my dear friend about Dominican hair salons and so forth. What is the name of the product you ordered? because knowing me I might have tried it and didn’t know it was a Dominican hair product. I also order things from Amazon too.

  • Sydney™

    @EJ

    I have the same problem with my T-zone area. Perhaps there’s a bronzer with some sort of oil control. I’ve heard nothing but raves about Bobbi Brown.

    @Butterscotch™

    I’m forgetting the brand — EJ, do you remember that mango butter/lotion you mentioned a while ago?

    Have you also tried Salerm products? My stylist uses that as well. I did a Google on Alter Ego before I made my purchase, and the customer reviews were great.

  • Butterscotch™

    @msej

    “I would love a bronzer, but no matter what I try my skin gets oily after three hours and such things will only highlight that.”

    Hmmmmmmmm…have you tried Bare Escentuals? Their products are not made with an synthetic fragrances or dyes.

    “but at least that means I won’t wrinkle easily, so that’s a plus.”

    That’s a HUGE plus. I love how our skin endures. (Smile)

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- I sure do…@BUTTERSCOTCH- Its by Elasta QP.

    @SYDNEY-I will be visiting Bobby Brown (skin too) and Nars today online.

  • Butterscotch™

    @Sydney™

    “Have you also tried Salerm products? My stylist uses that as well.”

    No, but I am adding it to my list of products to try out. I am a total product junkie!

  • Sydney™

    Wait, I think it was Elasta that made the hair butter that Ms. EJ mentioned.

    @Ms. EJ

    This is the name of the product I ordered: Alter Ego Curativ Ego Cren. My stylist recommended it to thicken my hair.

    You may also wish to visit roundbrushhair.com, which lists Dominican salons around the country. I see them popping up everywhere now.

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    “I am a total product junkie!”

    LOL, so am I. I look forward every year to InStyle’s list of the 100 best beauty products. I think I have stuff at home I haven’t opened yet.

  • Butterscotch™

    @msej

    “Its by Elasta QP.”

    Great…thank you kindly. Sounds like it smells lovely.

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- Girl, I I am a recovering product junkie! LOL but I’ve done all my experiments now which concluded last month from: prepoos, emu oil, conditioner wash, deep condition w/heat or no heat, to traditional wrapping to cross-wrapping and so forth.

  • Interesting….

    I have very hairy legs get the side eye all the time…I don’t care. If you don’t like it that’s your problem not mine.

  • Butterscotch™

    @Sydney™

    “I look forward every year to InStyle’s list of the 100 best beauty products.”

    @BUTTERSCOTCH- No problem :) and and I haven’t tried Bare Essentials, but heard it is pretty good.

    Thanks, Ms. EJ! I’ll check out the list.

    Also, I’ve been using Aveda’s anti-humectant pomade for years now.

  • msej

    @SYDNEY- Oh no problem and thank you. Girl, I have so much stuff to last me literally til th end of this year, well it can since I will be going back to washing every two weeks, instead of every week which was my experiment too. I changed my avatar to show you my picture hair update, but it hasn’t changed over yet :(

    Ummm..I know that men aren’t really into hair, but it seems lately its been getting quite when the women or regular women come on, could be me. LOL

  • Is it true..

    Is it true that hairy legs in common in the south? I grew up on the west coast, so I don’t know, but I heard it is not really a big deal in many of the southern states.

  • MJFlan

    Black , White, Hispanic, Asian. If you’re a woman. Shave your legs!!

    Man a supposed to be hairy. If you’re a woman your supposed to be smoothe and hairless. Now from time to time you may not have had to chance shave. But to let it get like Mo’s that’s just not giving a damn.

    What man wants to cuddle up to someone as hairy as they are. Gross!!!! That’s like kissing a women with a stache!! Ewww!!

  • Sydney™

    I’m from the South, and I’ve never heard that there are more women who don’t mind hair in that region than elsewhere in the country. I could be wrong. I also didn’t know that women tend not to shave in Baltimore as well, according to another poster.

  • Angee

    Well since this is an Gossip and Entertainment Blog about celebrities where we are supposed to speculate on rumors and give opinions, here is mine……..Her legs look terrible!!! Her hair and makeup are beautiful (always have been). IMO there is nothing cute about hairy legs on a woman. If she likes it great, if her husband likes even better!!

  • taylor

    “Sometimes I shave my legs and some times I don’t.”

  • RAWRR

    @ Soulfultea
    I completely agree.

    Hair is not a signifier of ones feminity. How is she less woman if she doesnt shave her legs? Hair is a merely a construct of manliness when its not. We’ve grown to be too sensitive about hairy legs. God wouldnt made it grown on our legs w/o a reason!
    We are all born with hair. It’s her damn legs, if she doesn’t want ot shave them, who cares?!

  • Theorius Stylez

    Its rough for a brutha sometime. WHEW!!!

  • deschl

    Just use some nair for sensitive skin, what I do know as a black woman is we don’t have to shave that often when I use products like nair it takes about 5 mos before I have to shave again. But yall she is selling a product which happens to be her she needs to come accross as clean and coifed, shave the legs if is taboo in modern society.

  • Dabarber

    Hairy or not I’ll still hit that….

    Hmmmm, Mo’Nique dear…let me see if I’ve got this straight? You refuse to shave your legs because you said your tried it and it hurts, yet you get a perm and weave (extensions, wax your face and shave your underarms? Darling this is pure and utter non-sense. It looks beasly and you should know better as a lady. If you want to gi natural, then do so with all of your body hair, but please don’t make up horrid excuses for sheer and utter laziness!

  • EtherUtopia

    “Most of us would not care if the mainstream wasn’t so dead set against it.”
    ——————–

    This poster hit the nail on the head. We shouldn’t be concerned about Monique’s legs.

    Monique is very feminine and obviously doesn’t have a hygiene problem. She is comfortable in her own skin. Good for her.

    White folks are last people on the earth to talk about hygiene. They have issues with hand-washing. Just ask ANY black woman who’s been in the bathroom with them. Caucasians have a history of not bathing.

  • White Women Rule

    Goodness the typos are in abundance I know. However, the fact still remains, it is extremely unattractive on any woman. Unless there is a medical condition preventing hair removal, women in public should know better than to show off hairy legs.

  • DAMN…MO’

  • BTR Woman

    Sorry I’m near 47 years old, live in the deep south, black as night, and have been shaving my legs since I was 12. This stuff about black women not shaving their legs is a sterotype, not true for all black women. Also Mo’s excuse about it growing back thicker if you shave is an old wives tale. But like someone else said, I don’t have to sleep with her hairy behind so let her do what float her boat.
