It’s amazing but EXPECTED how verbal the media and Republicans have been since President Barack Obama took office. Former CBS News anchorman Dan Rathers voiced his opinion about President Obama and lets just say he couldn’t have used a more RACIST analogy to get his point across.

Most likely he hangs out with people who talk this way, as they quite often use this type of code talk, but do not often make the mistake of doing it in front of non-whites unless they are trying to be offensive, and most certainly not on tv.

The fact that Dan did this on tv says that he has heard this type of language being used, and was trying to sound hip and cool like the guys who talk this way, but did not truly realize what it would say about him.

Did anybody actually listen to the rest of Rather’s sentence before rushing here to scream about how this proves that all white folks are racist? He said “He couldn’t sell watermelons if you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic.” Now you’d think by now that most white people would know to be *very* careful to use the word “watermelon” in a sentence referring to a black man – especially after calling him “articulate” – but this sounds more like a case for the “WTF was that supposed to mean?” squad than one for the NAACP. He didn’t say anything about us liking watermelons or eating them or anything. He just said that Obama couldn’t sell them. He could have said “he couldn’t sell tangerines” and it still wouldn’t have made any sense. It wasn’t racist, just nonsensical.

And after 8 years of GWB, any time someone calls Obama “articulate,” it sounds more like “ain’t it nice to have a President that doesn’t sound like he rode the short bus to work that day?”

Ok Bossip let me help you out, you say that Dan Rather had nothing to say when Bush was in office? You either ignored, or just simply have no clue. Rather was fired for exposing the fact that Bush did not finish his military service, he lost his job over what he had to say about Bush. About Obama he is on point. Obama has had more than a year to get health care done, and what has he accomplished, nothing. He attempts to stepin fetchit with the Republicans as opposed to just getting this done. Lyndon Johnson would have had this thing done by now. If he serves one term he has only himself to blame. He has compromised and bowed to the GOP since he took office. I promise you, the majority of those milling around the watermelons in stores, at farmer’s markets, and by trucks on the side of the road are WHITE.If a nucca can get close enough to the watermelons to buy one, he must be the Flash or something.
