I’ve studied art and photography… this picture says absolutely nothing to me. The hay stacks may signify some sort of allusion to slavery but her heels throw that off. The topless bravado may convey Africana, just as much as the male being lower than the female, and the male looking up to her, but any subversion of western gender hierarchies is destroyed by the fact that he is covering (symbolically protecting) her vagina (womanhood). And again those damn Western shoes, and her died hair destroy that.
The repeated v shapes are nice in terms of fashion photography, but as high art… You need more than shapes. Where’s the message?
