Ok, did everyone just miss the entire point of the piece. Beyonce and her mother are giving back to their community. Beyonce donated her own money, which she works extremely hard for (you aren’t born with the skills she has, God gives you some and hard work and dedication enhances it)to help these women. At least she is using this publicity to support the center and to bring awarness to the lack of options available in job training programs and to provide another option. At least she is not using it to promote herself or some other things that don’t matter in the long run. Regardless of what you think of Bey (let’s admit, none of us know her personally) you should be inspired and encouraging. Neither she nor her mother HAD to donate any of their time or money to help women that they don’t even know. But they did. What they do will change lives and give women in bad situations the opportunity to learn a trade that no one can take away from them and possibly become business owners. This will allows them to support themselves and their families. Instead of criticizing Bey for her good deeds why don’t you do some of your own. I thank God for putting it on her heart to help others because she doesn’t have to. When was the last time you helped to change someone’s life. My mother has battled addiction for most of my life so I know how hard it is to get your life on the right track. @Theorius Stylez – I have tried to post a reply to your ‘answer #2′ commentary unsuccessfully for about 5 times already.

It was an attempt to address the h-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y in our perceptions of people as it relates to religion, profession, socio-economic background, etc.

We hold different standards for folks. In using my example, I wasn’t alluding to being hustled by r-e-l-i-g-i-o-n. I’m not r.e.l.i.g.i.o.u.s. But, I respect those who are.

And…I have an impressive library of books.

I enjoy reading your post as well. I think that you know that prison staff are being laid off, furloughed, thousands of job losses, and criminals being released on the streets early due to lack of State funding in every State in America. Do you know were this money comes from. The taxpayers. If the rich dont pay their taxes then society pays the price. She isn’t trying to help anybody. This is a tax break that is hurting Brooklyn, not helping anybody.

You are right in the sense of the tax break involved concerning residents of Brooklyn,I was only trying to emphasize the fact that there are many people who made a wrong turn that given the right opportunity would take it and do well.I’m glad you brought this issue up though–I work in an upstate prison and I was just telling a friend of mine the other day why urban cities will never receieve funding they so need.The answer is the census!!You see,when they come to the prisons to take counts,they don’t list the inmates from where they came from,they are listed only as the address of the prison.Therefore,when its time to recieve money,all those inmates that are really from say Brooklyn are actually counted as residents of Duchess County,so after tallying up the numbers it will be decided how much money is allotted to each county and the inner cities always lose out.
