Random Ridiculousness: NYC Chef Uses The Sweet Nectar From His Wife’s Teet In A Cheese Recipe

This is kinda really gross:

Chef Daniel Angerer is letting diners at Klee Brasserie munch on cheese made from his wife’s breast milk.

“It tastes like cow’s-milk cheese, kind of sweet,” he told The Post. The flavor depends on what the cheese is served with — Angerer recommends a Riesling — and “what the mother eats,” said Angerer, who once bested Bobby Flay on TV’s “Iron Chef.” Breast milk doesn’t curdle well due to its low protein content, so a little moo juice has to be added to round out the texture, Angerer said.

After blogging about his efforts with the human cheese, customers started demanding a sample, he said. “The phone was ringing off the hook,” the chef said. “So I prepared a little canapé of breast-milk cheese with figs and Hungarian pepper.” The response has been generally positive from those who’ve tried the cheese, although many customers are too squeamish to attempt it.

“I think a lot of the criticism has to do with the combination of sex and cheese, but . . . the breast is there to make food,” said Lori Mason, the chef’s wife.
Since the restaurant began offering customers a taste, Mason has been inundated with creepy queries, she said. “Some people who clearly have issues have . . . e-mailed me saying, ‘I wasn’t breast-fed as a child, so can I taste your breast milk?’ ” she said. Mason politely declines the offer.

“I’m not here to walk people through their psychological problems,” she said. That said, Mason is now prodding her husband to make gelato. After inquiries from The Post, health bigs said yesterday that even though department codes do not explicitly forbid the practice, they have advised Angerer to refrain from sharing his wife’s milk with the world. “The restaurant knows that cheese made from breast milk is not for public consumption, whether sold or given away,” a spokeswoman for the city Department of Health said.

White folks we tell ya! Would you guys want to eat some cheese made from some random lady’s breast milk??? That ish just sounds extremely unappetizing…

I dont even know where to begin with this foolishness!

Breast milk is to provide nutrients to children and has no real value after a child reaches a certain age.

Has this woman been checked out for any diseases before ppl eagerly consume that sh!!t?

And I know these freaks dont use a breast pump either…

Actually, human breast milk is one of the healthiest foods you can consume, it is known to help stave off infections and boost the immune systems of infants, and there is a real possibility that breast milk compounds could cure certain types of cancer. Scientists at Lund University used a compound found in breast milk called human alpha-lactalbumin to kill brain tumor cells in a test tube and it seems to have worked. The same research team, in 2004, used the breast milk compound to destroy many types warts caused by HPV, creating the possibility that it could be used to treat cancer caused by HPV as well…Many believe breast milk can heal or help conditions such as Cancer, Crohn’s disease, infections, rashes, and other illnesses too…The only real problem is that it’s kinda wierd to ask a woman to give a grown man/woman her breast milk if she’s lactating, but there are “Milk banks” where you can get it if you have a prescription. The issue with that, however, is that the sources of milk aren’t well regulated, and the “MILK DONORS” are not screened, well, either..

    Good morning Daywalker

The issue is not whether or not breast milk is healthy because we all know it is (in healthy women). These people have gone too far.

Instead of making cheese, she should donate that milk to nourish children!

PS I wonder how much time she had to spend pumping that milk to create the cheese. Breast pumps are uncomfortable! I used one once and I was done. I couldn’t imagine using one for any length of time.

Well, i think you all are missing something here. I don’t have a problem with it being breast milk. We produce it as human beings (women, of course) to feed our children, right? Ok. Now…. had this been a black couple smiling on all these pages of the newspaper saying we made cheese from her breast milk, they would be looked at as disgusting and no one would want to taste what came from “HER” because she’s a black woman. Alot of these white woman think they can get away with doing the most craziest things and still get a pat on the back and smile. That’s why i am disgusted with the whole thing. We couldn’t pull that off and be considered cool!!! I am sure our sista back home in Africa have been doing that for years… Now a white woman in nyc does it, all of a sudden she’s cool… Man, plu..eezee!

    Hello Daywalker

I know that people who live on farms drink milk straight from cows and goats. A lot of people consider it better than processed milk. There would be no questions about it if it wasn’t from a human.

  • B3 Fearless

I remember tasting my own breast milk and it tasting real sweet. If he wants to serve it to the public he needs to publicize his wife’s medical history and STD results. If everything is straight and she eats healthy and contnues to be tested every 3-6months for STDs I say why not?

    @cruzan trini

Breast pumps aren’t that bad! It’s best to use them when the breast milk builds up so much that your breasts start to hurt and leak because then once you start pumping it just flows out and you feel relief from the pressure.

    Hey Ms.EJ!

  • Ms.EJ

As a mother who b-r-e-a-s-t fed my daughter (which I encourage ALL women should do for their babies) I understand that human milk is extremely healthy and full of nutrients, but with that being stated in NO WAY should one include human breast milk into a dish or food without the consent of the other party or parties. In addition, no one knows the health of this woman, also whatever she eats comes through her breast milk.

    ______________________________________________

They may consume “RAW” milk they choose, but they still suffer the risk of ingesting micro-organisms from the bovine that can cause a potential health risk, dear Devil…It is far better to boil the milk prior to consumption to alleviate that potential. Personally, I drink Soy milk as a result of actually seeing how the milk is processed, and running the machines to produce it myself. Milk is actually good for infants and the elderly and it is nothing more than water and fat from the animal. However, with that being said, it also contains blood..And that is the medium through which the organisms may be transferred from the animal to an otherwise healthy human…

Ewwwww thats really disgusting!!!!!! has me thinkin should i really drink cows milk anymore??? ever since i started breastfeeding i thought we should never drink cows milk anyway!

  • EVE

This reads like the people who have tried the cheese know it’s from breast milk. If they don’t mind I certinly do not. Breast milk by its nature is for consumption and this is just a new spin on it. Not every food is going to be liked by everyone. Iwouldn’t touch any organ meat and chitlins(chitterlings)EWW.. With recalls on food becoming more frequent You are taking chance anyway. Let those people enjoy they’re breast milk cheese.

  • oh wow

Reminds me of that episode from kids next door where the nurse lady used the ice crest from the kids who had pink eye to make her pies or whatever they was.
    Just sick

AArrrgghhhhh! I can’t! The only thing a placenta should be used for is stem cell research. Eating afterbirth is too close to cannibalism to me. I’m sorry..but noooo sireee! Nope, you couldn’t pay me ENOUGH to chomp on a placenta pate and breast milk cheese platter!
