Just a few months ago Common chopped it up with BOSSIP about his first leading role in the upcoming film Just Wright and we couldn’t be more excited to share the trailer with you guys. Pop the hood for some seriously sexy stuff!

Oh yeah, King Latifah’s in that joint too. Pam Grier and Phylicia Rashad have roles as well, and Paula Patton plays the gold digger… I know y’all peeped Dwight Howard and his big sexy shoulders too!

looks kinda cliche. i was hoping for some more depth but i think i know the whole storyline already. latifah needs to show more range in her acting. she is usually believable but it seems like she always plays herself.

Okay so its an african american movie and now it needs more depth…. GTFOH…. Most romantic comedys are cliche yet people still go and see them everyone knows who will end up together at the end of the movie, so dont sit up here and act like every movie needs to be all ‘shawshank redemption”… Looks like a good flic and I will go and see it to be SUPPORTIVE cause if we dont, then they will stop making movies for us and then we will be mad……SMH

I understand you all have issues with her sexuality or the way she deals with (not that it anyones business) BUT I find it really disrespectful to call her KING.

She one of the few black women with an actual bankable career in this business and she earned it on her own terms. That should be respected, considering some of the others we have to choose from.

@Linda I noticed that too, I think its the vegan lifestyle. They all start looking like Skeletor! I’m still, going to see this movie it looks good. A big girl getting love, and cute male lead. Common is a great actor, Queen Latifah also. Samuel L. Jackson is probably sick to his stomach, rappers and comedians are naturally good actors. They’re better actors than the professionally trained ones! Sorry, Sammy love ya but their putting out some quality work. You can’t front on talent. Their just naturally blessed!

Sellout? It’s funny to me when this word is used. What cause of YOURS did Common abandon? He is a rapper, product endorser, actor, etc. which all allows him to pay HIS bills and live HIS life.

Perhaps his perspective on some things may have changed, however that is called growth, and it seems to me when you no longer open yourself to new things you limit yourself and become closed minded.

The fact that you suggest that this man had to “suck” someone strongly suggests that you are indeed knocking him.

Love life and stop hating on someone who is living thier own life.

Co-sign! This is a mostly African American cast playing positive, professional roles, not playing stereotypes and it actually appears to be a cute, legitimate romantic comedy. We need to go out, represent and support this movie with our wallets.

How else do you expect more movies portraying us in a positive light to be made and not just going directly to DVD?

Queen of course gained years of experience on the TV show Living Single. I believe he has respect for LL Cool J for the same reason.

Samuel L. Jackson’s ccmment that you’re referring to was directed to music acts like 50 Cent who are getting roles strictly because they are popular with the m a s s es, not from actually having experience. For example, we all know of one particular star who is constantly getting work in mainstream films just on name alone or from actually becoming a producer on it because it certainly isn’t for that person’s acting skills!

Jackson’s point was valid. Think about it? You spend years studying and training for a specific profession that already is a struggle to find work in as a minority and you don’t get a job because it is given to a person solely based on their popularity, not on their actual skills or abilities.
