In White Folks News: John Edward’s Ex-Sidepiece Finally Speaks, Says She’s Not A Homewrecker, Golddigger, Or Stalker

Resident scuzzbucket and disgraced politician John Edwards’ former mistress has finally opened up about her affair with the former presidential candidate:

“I know he loves me,” Hunter, 45, tells GQ in a lengthy new interview. “I have never had any doubt at all about that. We love each other very much. And that hasn’t changed, and I believe that will be till death do us part. The love doesn’t go away. It’s unconditional.”

That love began on the night she met Edwards, 56 – and first slept with him – in February 2006. “I had never experienced anything like what was flowing between us. I sat on the other side of the room. I wouldn’t go near him,” she says. “It was just this, this magnetic force field like I had never experienced. It terrified me. Absolutely terrified me.”

Hunter says she feels “such compassion” for Edwards’s wife Elizabeth, who has battled breast cancer since 2004 – and stood by her husband for several years before separating this year. But Hunter adds: “Infidelity doesn’t happen in healthy marriages. The break in the marriage happens before the infidelity. And that break happened, you know, two and a half decades before I got there. So the home was wrecked already. I was not the Home Wrecker.”

She adds that the public has misjudged her – “I’m not a predator, I’m not a gold digger, I’m not the stalker,” she says – and that Edwards has actually redeemed his life, not ruined it, by leaving a marriage and a career for which he wasn’t well suited.

“Everyone talks about how Johnny has fallen from grace,” Hunter says. “In reality, he’s fallen to grace. He is integrated. He is living a life of truth. He has grown in awareness and humility. He had all these things within him, but they weren’t the guiding, leading principles of his life. Now they are.

Does she see herself living happily ever after with him? “I have no idea,” Hunter says. “I do know that I will love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond. We have a child together, so at the very least we will be co-parents together.”

Sounds like a delusional wheffah to us…

    Wellll, in John’s and her defense, John’s wife is frumpy and is on her last leg. His procreatin’ with his side piece was akin to shoppin’ early in order to avoid the Christmas rush. :lol:

  • http://aol ebonieladi

    She’s delusional if she expects to have a loving and lasting relationship with this man. He has lost everything in life that he truly cared about, #1 being his political career
    and # 2 being the respect of his wife and kids. He will probably be bitter over this for the rest of his life and everytime he sees her and that kid, it will be a reminder of his downfall.
    She’ll be better off collecting that child support and moving on to the next one, that way she might have a chance at finding someone to have a good relationship with.

    Rayelle Hunter is too old to be this delusional – that she and John Edwards are some kind of soulmates. Or better yet her P is lined with gold. I’d expect thist nonesens from a 20-something. Anyway, Rayelle’s gotta figure that in 10years or less, when “they’re relationship starts to break” and she’s Elizabeth’s age, John will trade her in, too.

    Also, Rayelle says he hasn’t fallen from grace, but rather to it? Futher delusion. Let’s see…once a Vice Presidential candidate, once a Presdiential candidate nominee, today nothing more than a lawyer at an office. Keep on thinking that Rayelle…

    Straight up skank.

    I understand that. Yes, he was vulnerable, but he took vows when he married his wife – love and honor, forsake all others, in sickness and in health, til death do us part. Being married is about commitment. If he no longer wanted to do that, he should have divorced his wife and proceeded to live as a single man.

    As Caramel Cat has said, everyone is capable of making decisions with the brain in their head and not be ruled by their desires.

    _____________________________________________

    She’s extremely delusional, but I’m not surprised. As I mentioned to Caramel Cat, if he cheated with her on his wife, he will cheat on her when the next prospect comes along. She seems to be operating under the guise that she is “special” to him because she snagged him from his wife/family. I hope she’s getting a nice support check from him, because she is going to need therapy when he’s done with her. (Can you say, Marla Maples?)

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    “I hope she’s getting a nice support check from him, because she is going to need therapy when he’s done with her. (Can you say, Marla Maples?)”

    Yeah, probably. I thought the Enquirer reported that they had been embroiled in a legal fight over child support (she, predictably, wanted more money).

    On a side note, wouldn’t it be something if the Enquirer won a Pulitzer from all of this? It did break the story.

  • Caramel Cat™

    @Marquis

    And, if you look at other less serious threads, I still do have a sense of humor and light-hearted nature with my posts…I just don’t think this is the time for jokes…people don’t think their actions have consequences and this Rielle wench doesn’t think she or John did anything wrong…smh…

    “On a side note, wouldn’t it be something if the Enquirer won a Pulitzer from all of this? It did break the story.”

    Right! They have seriously raised their game in the past couple pf years. Not sure where the root of their upturn stems from, but I do know they require polygraphs from outside sources to verify major stories.

  • Caramel Cat™

    brb, lunch..

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    “but I do know they require polygraphs from outside sources to verify major stories.”

    Wow, I didn’t know they had started that practice. I never took the Enquirer seriously, but since the Edwards story and their reporting on some other breaking news, I don’t automatically dismiss their reporting anymore. They’re now vying for the most prestigious award in journalism, so that’s saying a lot. Following John to hotels paid off for them. . .

  • Say What?!

    All homewrecking b.i.t.c.h. w.h.o.r.e.s.
    say they were not the cause of the break-up of a marriage. Just because they say that and believe that, doesn’t make it true. Like Nene Leakes said “close your legs to married men”.

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    Have you read “Game Change” or “The Politician” yet?

  • http://charlyndria.blogspot.com/ Ms.Caribbean

    I wish that women would avoid douches like this. These are the men who would cheat on every woman. Both Ms. Hunter and John Edward’s wife Elizabeth need to leave John Edwards and find a man who would not cheat on them. There is a man who would love you 100%.

  • Man, I just don’t care™

    This trick azz woman seduced and deceived him and now she tryin to play the “victim” role???

    GTFOH trick! Youz a h.o.e. and the whole world knows it.

    Now your daughter goin read where you give it up to married man on the first night and shyt. SMH.

    You know wanted some bread from this dude and you did what you had to do to get it. I guess she lied to Edwards and he fell for it so EVERYBODY ON THE WHOLDE DAYUM PLANET MUST BE DUMB TOO.

  • Butterscotch™

    “Following John to hotels paid off for them. . .”

    That definitely takes dedication! But, I think a lot of it has to do with the increased competition among publications. For example, when The State newspaper in S.C. got wind of the Governor’s hike on the Appalachian trail (like he’s Daniel Boone – LOL), they promptly dispatched teams to BOTH the Col.u.m.bia, SC and Atlanta, GA airports to catch him off guard when he returned. They were determined to get the scoop before anyone else since they knew it was a huge story.

  • ugottabkiddinme

    Wow, you people are so judgmental. I would bet half of you have never been married. Don’t ever say what you wouldn’t do until u walk in someone elses shoes. I don’t condone cheating but when your spouse emotionally checks out on u, u feel abandoned lonely, if he wasn’t happy he shoulda left but its easy to fall into that type of situation

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    Yes, you’re right about the increased competition. It shocked me when I first saw tabloid reporters being interviewed on MSNBC, and I’ve seen much more celebrity news in publications that previously scoffed at such stories. The proliferation of blogs has also affected traditional news organizations, IMHO.

    Did you happen to hear about ABC’s cutbacks in its news department? I just read about that this morning.

  • Butterscotch™

    @Sydney™

    “Have you read “Game Change” or “The Politician” yet?”

    ______________________________________________

    “Game Change” is in my stack of books – it’s about 3 back in the queue. But I don’t think I’m going to read “The Politician” because I despise the author so much. Do you know he and his wife almost went to jail last week because he defied the court’s order to turn over the s.e.x. tape? (The judge ended up giving him a little more time.) Dude just seems soooo shady…

    YEP! Who would ever have thought that TMZ would scoop the major news orgs on MJ’s death? As a matter of fact, they’ve been at the forefront of some other celebrity deaths/scandals. I am convinced they have folks on the payroll in the police, EMT squad and Child Protective Services.

    “Did you happen to hear about ABC’s cutbacks in its news department?”

    I heard some r.u.m.ors recently but did not know they had come to fruition. I hate to hear about anyone being laid off in this economy.

  • resurrected

    Ok and he also have children by his wife so what is your point now because you have a younger child she is more important than the other children… This is mostly never be a stable family and how will the other children react to the new child that was created in dishonor?

  • Sydney™

    @Butterscotch™

    I would have never thought that TMZ would break the MJ story. I now regularly check that site for news as well. They’re still reportedly regularly on the Jacksons. Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do have sources in different agencies. They’ve had some good investigative reporting – they even found the two sisters who worked for Dr. Murray and interviewed them on the street.

    Do you read Media Bistro? I try to read my daily e-mails from it for the latest news in the industry, but I must have missed this tidbit. ABC News is reportedly cutting 300-400 positions. CBS News cut news positions as well. Yes, it’s a horrible economy to be out of a job in.

  • resurrected

    She is only speaking out because he seems to be siding with her but why is he siding with you maybe because he life is in shambles and you are on person who he can ride the delusional ride with until he wants to wake up… We all know that he will come and stay with you for a little while but he will wake up soon and he if still wants a political career you are not political career worthy not in the eye of the rich man anyway… Money usually only marries money it is a chest move not checkers…

    I’m not sho.c.k.ed but look forward to reading the article. (The Gawker site is bl.o.c.k.ed at my job.) They always have entertaining angles on current events. Speaking of Clarence Thomas, I read an interesting article in the NY Times last week about Supreme Court justices providing dissenting opinions from the bench more often in recent years. One of the most interesting points was that Justice Thomas speaks/expresses his opinion the LEAST of ALL the justices.

  • Sydney™

    @Caramel

    I’m glad I gave to another organization as well.

    @Butterscotch

    The original article on Thomas’ wife is on latimes.com, I think.

    “I might get some backlash for this, but I’ve had the weird vibe that Wyclef was riding this Haiti earthquake for his own come-up.”

    You’re not the only one who thought that — I’ve seen more of Wyclef than I care to, including his horrendous yodeling on “We Are the World.” (I still cannot believe they had rapping and auto-tune on the new version, but that’s another story)
