“Categorically Untrue”

L’Oreal claims they didn’t alter Beyonce’s skin in the Feria ad:

“Beyoncé Knowles has been a spokesperson for the L’Oréal Paris brand since 2001. We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L’Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles’ features or skin-tone in the campaign for Feria’s hair color.”

“Categorically untrue”. We know she’s a red bone and all, but they know they got her looking like a straight white broad in this ad. SMH.

    what about that NOSE?

SHE LOOKS BETTER WITH WHITE SKIN

BEYONCE SIGNED FOR THIS PHOTO TO BE RELEASED. They didn’t do this as a surprise…

    That house of Dereon shirt…

  • distribia

L’oreal is not a product for african americans

so of course they have make miss beyonce a bit

lighter than she actually is …..for them other folks

  • Jap

then why is all the candids, this chick got a tan?

    Try again Loreal

  • Jap

Bey looks like an albino man in this pic. not flattering at all

  • distribia

On how she handles the comparisons to Beyonce…

“At first I didn’t want to make people uncomfortable in interviews, I didn’t want to come off rude or arrogant. Now, I just really don’t care.”

On how her upcoming album “Sol-Angel” is different from her 2003 debut Solo Star…

“Then I just didn’t know how to execute what I wanted. I was 15, and made a record with no identity. I was at a label [Sony] that didn’t develop me, they just got all the big heads together and hoped to formulate a big song. I started writing all these Sol-Angel records three years ago but no other artists wanted to cut them. It wasn’t cool yet because it was before Amy Winehouse, Adele and Duffy. A few people asked, “why aren’t you cutting those records yourself.” Geffen gave me the opportunity to record, turn it in and sign when I was done. I thought for sure I’d do an indie record, where I am happiest, but the key and the challenge now is trying to work with label and get them to know me.”

On why she’s not your average R&B artist…

“I have never felt at home in one demographic. That’s my struggle with management and my label, getting everyone to identify that just because I’m African-American, that doesn’t mean that I’m an urban artist. I make music for people that have a sophisticated ear and are brave enough to support something non-traditional. People complain about the state of music, but there are alot of diverse and talented artists with people that support them. But their fans aren’t the ones calling the radio station, they just want to see a good show. So I said, we should just do a tour and all of the artists that are going to be a part of it will have the same voice and stance on music. So, we, Janelle Monae, Chester French, the Knux and I, got all of our managers on the phone and started making a tour happen. It’s in the very early stages, but we’re trying to put something together.”

I’m actually really feeling Solo’s sound this time around. More ish when you read

  • Angeleyes

the blondish/light brown hair and eyebrows does not go with her natural skin complexion, if u saw pics of her when she was lil she was light-skinned but not this light, i think it could possibly be the lighting and makeup but as for the nose, maybe she got some work done…the whole look hands down is not cute at all, it just makes her look much older then she is

  • Star

Lets talk about the fact that she’s wearing a lacefront and not her real hair for this ad. Beyonce is a lot lighter in this ad and L’Oreal needs to be ashamed and whoever gave the ok with this photo in Beyonce’s camp needs to be fired.

  • http://www.gypsywandering.blogspot.com Baiana

I used 2 work 4 L’oreal, and I can say this for CERTAIN, they have an entire empire built on telling lies. Years ago when they signed Beyonce on, I pointed out that none of this was her hair. Their response to me was, “customers can have hair {like} Beyonce’s and get around the fact that it’s not her actual hair that she grew from her scalp”…

spin doctors are employed with ENORMOUS salaries to make you believe this crap.

  • Dame

They lying and Bee wears weaves

  • Just_Wanna_Know

Personally I don’t think they lightened her skin either. In person Bey is very light. She may have purposely avoided the sun for this shot to be taken but I don’t think any photoshop was done. Now the nose is a totally different story. Jay should have told her she was fine just the way she was.

  • randomthoughts

So what if it’s not her hair. She’s selling beauty products. Not hair products.

  • cns

I laugh at how they are trying to back peddle now. If they would have not altered her looks no one who be committing on it. And before all the fans come out and start accusing black women for being jealous of the hottest chick in the game, some of the white blogs and media outlets are commenting on this also.

When you have white people asking why a well known black person is looking white, this is a problem.

  • ethang

Don’t just blame Loreal. Beyonce had something to do with this as well. She probably approved the finished product and if not, she’s too greedy to care. Remember, this is the same broad who charges stans to be part of her fan club. SMDH.

  • oriental

she looks like a horse with that nose not flattering at all ugly……….

  • cns

So what if it’s not her hair. She’s selling beauty products. Not hair products.

Loreal Haircolor Feria. Sorry to disappoint, but Feria is a hair product. She does the hair and beauty lines.

  • cns

I believe this picture was photoshopped, because when I first saw it, I was like this is the ugliest photo I have ever seen of her. As a matter of fact,I have never seen an ugly picture of her until this ad can out. It’s a bit disappointing when you can take a natural beauty like her and make her look ugly because your trying to make her look white.

  • Jahp

good point. that isnt her hair.

so what exactly is Loreal marketing?

that color looks dry and disgusting. I think I see better textures in a stack of hay

  • Blacksmith

If the photo was not altered, then they probably used some strong lighting. Remember folks, the lights used on a photo shoot are very, very strong and can wash you out…which looks like what happened here.

  • BACKYARD

WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS SHE WEARS LACE FRONTS SO THAT’S FALSE ADVERTISMENT

  • thizzica a. fox

it depends on the season this pic was taken. in the winter i get whiiiiiiiiiiiiite. it aint a good look, but it does happen when i’m in a place where it snows.

in the summer i get good tans maybe even darker than i’ve ever seen b. the nose is boo boo though. pure unadulterated boo boo.

  • HarlemWorld4eva

You are an idiot if you don’t understand that her image was “softened” to appeal to the color struck masses.

  • champaignkisses2012

solange was on point with her comments. And I love Janelle Monae. She’s the real.

  • cns

yes they did they lightend her skin and did something to her nose

  • http://youtube.com/fifitrooper The( Delicious ♥ ) Ms. Sugar Walls

    true that!

I think that she need to do something about that. I love me some Beyonce.. Go girl..It could be that she is turned at a different angle..They did lighten the skin…I think that should do it over again

  • ethang

Why are people surprised? Beyonce has been wanting to be White since day one. All those blonde weaves and nose job only point to the fact. She prides herself in her whiteness and got rid of Farrah Franklin due to competition. She even stated that she wanted to be Spanish. This ad met her approval. Let’s move on already. She’s irrelevant.

  • Simply Ecstasy

They may not have altered the picture but they sure did brighten those stage lights to make her look washed out. Come on with the games.

  • NEEK

    honestly

i think it look like her..it looks like they just did alot of work on dat damn hair and eyebrows!..

if u really pay attention to beyonce pics shes always light one day and darker the next..i dont know if she gets tans,or maybe it just da damn make up..but shes always light like dat..& den the nxt day shes darker..look up sum pics of her

but yeah maybe its da damn makeup

  • Aunt Viv

    Please L’Oreal.

  • TbeenITsince87

This is a shame and an insult. Beyonce should be ashamed to have allowed them to alter her, thats like sayin your not beautiful enough naturally… some ppl would do anything for money

  • southern sway

She do look different in this pic skin tone is lighter and her nose is long and pointed out I noticed her nose 1st when I saw this.

  • getsomebusiness

Bey has nothing to do with the concept, the photo, the make-up, the retouching. She just shows up and collects a check. They might have not altered her skin tone, but it was lit to blow out her skin. And L’oreal definitely doesn’t care about using real hair.

  • memchee

that’s right….because she is red boned her complexion should be light honey brown, reddish brown, or light brown…….they got her looking straight up white.

The nerve to release a press statement as if African American’s don’t know the true hue’s of their race.

Did they brush up the pics or does L’Oreal make you appear lighter or whiter than you actually are?

    FASHION FAIR! Where’s Patti?

  • Afrodite

I don t hear anything being said about the nose job that she got in the ad…screw the lighter skin they can always blame that on lighting and make-up BUT WAT ABOUT THE NOSE?

  • Candy Barr

This is so ridiculous . . . I was wondering what idiot started all this. As Black folks, we know we can look different with lighting, and then hair color changes the way your skin tone looks, too. I was hanging out with one of my white male friends a couple of months ago, and he made some comment about tanning. He didn’t think Black people did, and then I showed him my feet that now are two distinctly different colors because of the way the straps are. He could believe how pale my feet are . . . This whole discussion is so ridiculous. Plus, when was the photo taken. This discussion could be ruining Beyonce’s paycheck from that company. They won’t want to take the heat over there.

  • WhatsYoursIsMine- Saw Pineapple Express Last Night, STILL LAUGHING

To me, the issue isn’t that they lightened her skin, it just looks GHASTLY!

    Nuff Said.

  • Sunshine

  • http://www.lavishmag.blogspot.com LavishChic

I was recently in India, and Loréal was pushing a product called “White Perfect”. Seriously. I need to write to them.

  • Black_Therapist

Now everyone is a photographer, a lawyer, a makeup artist, and etc.

You think you know but you really don’t know anything. Who knows when this picture was taken. And who really…..really cares. Did this picture make you want to be white? NOOOOOOOOOO so stop with stupid debate.

You don’t know whether or not Beyonce approved this picture.

You don;t even know if this is the original picture…..this could be altered.

    let it go..

  • cns

Forget about the complexion WHAT ABOUT THAT UGLY WITCHY NOSE?????

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Theses stan need to get off skin tone and address the nose. Black people come in all different shades. Some are naturally lighter than this photo. Please address the photo-shopped nose.

To any fan, can you please comment on how you feel about her altered nose without using the word hater in your comment?

  • Lady Architect

Wow people are in here cursing eachother out. I look at it as this: she may have signed a contract saying they could do whateva they want to her pictures. Stupid move on her, but oh well I guess the money was a better deal. Many stars do this to be honest so I look at them as mere entertainers. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s her real nose cause 7 out of 10 stars even the most popular ones get at least Rhinoplastic surgery (look it up) she’s on the list with many. As far as her skin yeh I think they may have put a bunch of light on her, but not all the light in the world can make a lightskin woman her complection that light and yes I’m a photoshop expert trained and all. They brightened the photo which doesn’t take long to do. She has never had an ad with Loreal that has been so light even with blonde hair, but then again I guess all of those photos were taken in the summer time maybe.

  • Lady Architect

Not to mention the chiseled manly face when she has pretty cheeks.

  • Black Beauty

If she and her daddy don’t have a problem with the picture, neither do I. B is red as hell, she didn’t mind one more white coat. She signed the release, cashed her check, and kept it moving. I am sick of reading about her. Isn’t it about time for her and her mystery husband to start on them 5 million dollar babies?? Now that is what I am waiting to see and read about.

  • cns

Some black women already have self-esteem issues when it comes to beauty, but you have your diehard fans still making excuses. Not everything is about money. As much money has she as made from the Loreal contracts she may lose that much 10 fold when she losses her fanbase because of being ashame of her blackness.

Geez I hope this picture really is photoshopped because Beyonce looks UGLY!!! She look like the wicked witch.

  • Lolo M.

She a nice looking lady but she look like Jennifer Lopez in that commercial. I like it but shes nottt as beautiful as Jennifer Lopez. Jenny look nice with blond hair also but I guess she taking a break wit her new babies. This girl is very pretty tooo.

  • Madame Enigma

    Damn..

She really is catching flack for this one. Not that I disagree, she really ISN’T that light. I agree with the poster that said one minute she’s brown, then the other minute she’s bright as hell. I’ve seen her in person , no make up, and really she’s light brown. Now what your own personal definition of ‘light skin’ is, I dunno. Didn’t she already go through this with Vanity Fair a coupla years ago?

  • Taitai

Hey people. We need to really pick our battles wisely. This petty debate has made its’ way onto TMZ! As a group we look weak making a BIG deal about this. This is the type of stuff that makes us come across as “Difficult”. People do not know how to come at us because we are all over the place constantly complaining about how the white man does not hire us and when they do we complain about how they portrays us. Let Beyonce fight this one on her own. Oh wait, she is not complaining about this…..So REALLY what is the problem? Do you not want Black people to get work from the mainstream advertisers?

  • pm

its crazy how some females look different depending on the color of the skin. Dark Beyonce all day long..

  • Tru3playboy

I saw beyonce close up at the Jay-z concert in MSG a few years back and let me tell you she is very light and thin in person. I think she is naturally very light. If you remember the Ring the Alarm video she looks very light in the close ups about the same as she does here. I think people just see her with tans from all the vacations she takes and think that’s her natural color. As for her nose…that’s another story.

  • Lady Architect

    Taitai,

I don’t think anyone in a blog makes big deals over things. For one every person in this comment section is a consumer and we are the ones who keep these companies and entertainers in business. This picture has made its way to both black and white sites and its not due to blk people. White people are also upset and somewhat offended from what I’ve read on some of the sites. Had that been gwenyth Paltrow on this add with a dark sprayed tan, a photoshopped big nose, and some braids in her hair then I guess that’s the only time we can complain. Beyonce can do what she wants because she is her own person like anyone who comments here. To be hired by the big time advertisers you shouldn’t have to let go who you are. Then again its that persons choice but don’t say people are making a big deal because they don’t agree with it. Loreal only released that statement because they are afraid of losing consumers.

  • cns

Loreal only released that statement because they are afraid of losing consumers.

I completely agree.Even white people have notice that this well known black person looks have been altered to look white. But I notice no one wants to comment on the alterd nose. I wonder why?

  • jas

BEYONCE IS NATURALLY LIGHT AND HER NOSE IS NATURALLY POINTY…HECK, LOOK AT BOTH HER MOM AND DAD’S NOSE, THEIRS IS POINTY TOO!

AND PEOPLE PLEASE DONT ACT LIKE YOU HAVE NEVER TAKEN A PICTURE BEFORE AND YOU LOOKED LIGHTER THEN YOU ACTUALLY ARE… IM SURE SHE WAS SURRONDED BY SO MANY BRIGHT LIGHTS AND SHE IS ALREADY RED AS IT IS.

  • disgusted

I agree with Jas….and black folks tan and use spray tans. not to just get darker but to also even out their skin tones and get a glow. I am latin, and I sometimes go to the tanning salon and and get a glow to me. MATTER OF FACT….TRUE STORY. BABY BASH’s gay ass was in the tanning salon I was in waiting to tan. So when you see Beyonce looking all golden dark, its fake. just like her hair.

  • Oh

    She looks Tyraish.

  • Bat Puleeze

Why use a weave to sell hair color? Just buy a different color weave.

  • Map

Don’t blame L’Oreal. Shoot, she chose to look like that.

  • http://myspace.com/seco82 .seco

    Damn it’s called lighting.

  • ms.kelly

Beyonce just contoured the hell out of her nose, thats all. I think basically people want her to stop with the fake ish, she is a black woman-this blonde hair and selling out with a contract with loreal (who to my understanding don’t have black haircare products) has got to go.

  • Its6amHoGetOut

She doesnt look white, she looks like a fine ass liteskin rich black woman.

  • ashley_ya_gurl

Kerry Washington is on the Loreal site and she looks black. So why should they have to alter Beyonce’s skin? B/c she approved of it. You don’t hear her sayin it was wrong, or she didnt like it. She’s not gonna speak to her stans about it. But come album release time she’ll be talkin up a storm. THIS IS WHO YALL LOOK UP TO STANS! SOMEBODY WHO DON’T REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT U UNLESS SHE HAS AN ALBUM OUT.

  • Candy girl

That nose is ugly as hell…her real nose looks way better

  • jay77

I WISH ALL WHITE WOMEN LOOKED LIKE THAT

  • Corree

Beyonce, like most celebs are after the almight dollar and the limelight. Bey got both with this ugly pic. She has everyone talking about her, just like she did when she said she wishes she were Latina. This girl can stay relevant and still get paid even if the comments are negative. If you think she doesn’t know what she’s doing, and sitting back laughing all the way to the bank…your crazy. She knows any blog about her is getting a lot of hits, and she craves the attention, even the negative attention. She’s probably trying to steal her sisters spotlight, without dropping new music.

  • I’m Just Me- JOSHUA ALLEN WON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!! HE AND KANYE CAN SO GET IT!!!! STILL HOOVY AND BUCKY BABY’s #1 STAN!!!!)

Really it could be the lighting or something. I mean I doubt they would ever admit it anyway.

  • Sparkle

Y’all lying on Bey. She did not say she wanted to BE Spanish. She said she envied the CULTURE. For the record, most of Latin America is more African than the US full of African influences. Where did you think samba and mambo and salsa came from? Europe. I think Bey was saying she loved their African influenced culture. I don’t think she meant she wanted to be or look Latin.

  • yall ignant

Loreal is for HAIR COLOR!!!! Not texture or growth this is NOT false advertising. It is for hair dye, meaning “if you use this hair coloring product then your hair will be THIS COLOR”!!! So what if they used a wig for the DYEING process. It could also be the lighting because as a model myself I know that lighting has alot to do with the way your photos turn out. Now as to whether this was done diliberately, I don’t know, but if her camp knew about it then be mad at them. I swear ya’ll sum ignant mofo’s smdh.

  • yall ignant

One more thing since they are selling HAIR COLOR did you maybe think that maybe this complexion goes better with the actual colr they are selling and that if they used her true color maybe it would look too fake. I know some of ya’ll negroes have no shame being black as the crayon with blonde hair, but let’s be real it;’s not a good look. It could also be the time of year she took them that may be affecting her, I know I get lighter in the winter and darker in the summer when I’m exposed to the harsh rays of the sun. That’s just my 2 cents.

  • De

I think it is the lighting.

  • duH!

her nose is just Yuck. So is that hair color

  • Can’t think of a screenname…will take suggestions

This is a big somethin about nothin. Who cares about her nose and her skin tone…as long as you are happy with yourself.

  • The Roc

People are tripping like there are no light skin black chicks in the universe. Black people tan too. Her complexion doesn’t look so much different from the other pics. She probably just hasn’t been in the sun for long all summer. You add in some lighting and that’s probably a natural pic.

  • blkmoto

    not a good look B

  • B

I don’t see the big deal either. Beyonce probably loves the picture.

  • Kim Lardassian

What amazes me is that so many of you black Americans can barely write in your already corrupted American English. It makes me cringe to see the way you express yourselves. I am Black British and I am so mortified that the most famous mixed race and black people are American because you are, in many case an embarrassment.

  • B

And also this is typical Beyonce FAME 101…they always have an ISSUE which keeps her name out there moreso than her FORGETTABLE music:

    -the DC break up

    -the lawsuits

    -the marraige

    -now Loreal

  • nowthisismyhairdamnit

I think the reason that folks have issue with this ad is, it shows a white woman on the box right next to beyonce’s pic….so thats why they are saying that she looks white!! But if thats what she feels like she has to do, oh well..its her soul, not urs!!

  • cintay

Everybody is jumping on Loreal what about Beyonce? She knew what was up. Loreal does not compliment African American skin anyway. The colors have always been geared toward white women!

  • Davina

Beyonce is ALL Fake!!! so this ad is not a surprise

  • Jay

The skin is not all they changed. She doesn’t even look herself. Beyonce is a beautiful girl but she looks blah and boring on this picture.

  • Christopher

it’s just he lighting man. They would never lighten a person just to sell more of their products to the people that buy them. that is just preposterous and outrageous.

  • And…..(with 5 dots)

Not only have they altered her skintone, and that her hair is fake, but they have also altered her voice on those commercials. I have a friend who works for L’Oreal and they said that they had to REALLY work with Beyonce to “soften” her up b/c although she’s pretty, but she was a little too “hood” for their liking.

  • Taitai

Sensitive. That word has been used a lot from non-blacks who have worked w/Black people. If Beyonce was pissed about this then we support her. Otherwise, pick on something or someone else. How can a sane person actually think that it is part of BEYONCE Camel agenda to try to “look white” or “whiter”. Maybe some of you guys are projecting and not being fare on this one. And as far as the nose, she was in a weird angle! I would be weirded out if the advertisers placed that nose on Riyannah!!! The camera can be tricky as we all know. Sometimes Bill Clinton’s nose looks like a penis, depending on the angle of the camera. But in true life, I could not see it no matter the angle. So again folks, are we being sensitive?
