  2. chris 3/19/10, 01:02:AM

She is fine and she didn’t name gaga although I have a feeling she may be referencing her and if she is, she is speaking the truth.

Love me some whitney and so good to hear her so humble and thankful to her fans.

  3. kenyatta 3/19/10, 01:10:AM

She did this interview late at night after a show in Australia, I can tell she’s tired. I enjoyed this interview.

She comes across as coherent and articulate and seems at peace. You can tell her daughter means alot to her and yes, I prayed for her return. Praise God

  4. Glen 3/19/10, 01:46:AM

  8. ebonieladi 3/19/10, 08:42:AM

Looking good Whitney. I think this was a better interview than the one she did with Oprah. She looked much more relaxed and was able to let down her guard and she definitely spoke the truth about the music industry today. I’m still pulling for her.

  9. darealwifey 3/19/10, 08:46:AM

She seemed more coherent in this interview than I’ve seen her in a long time. I just hope she can keep it together because she has truly been blessed.

  10. NURSEJ 3/19/10, 08:51:AM

  12. aleximaq 3/19/10, 09:01:AM

She spoke the truth…on every subject….”Music is supposed to inspire….” Not put you in the mood to go on a damn drive by or sink you further into depression…

  13. DreTruth 3/19/10, 09:07:AM

Whitney Houston is a professional at all cost and no one can change that – everything she is saying is the truth. Just deal with it – she already is.

  14. Team Whitney 3/19/10, 09:09:AM

I love Whitney Houston. She cant help but to be real. No one can take away her legacy. LOVE YA WHIT!

  15. mr shiggity 3/19/10, 09:09:AM

IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE WAS TALKING BOUT BEYONCE ALWAYS NAKED ON STAGE.

  16. Ladi 3/19/10, 09:13:AM

Thank you Whitney for schooling these young artists!!

  17. B3 Fearless 3/19/10, 09:21:AM

She spoke nothing but the truth. I like the fact that she was real, honest, respectful and c.l.a.s.s.y.

Thanks Whit! This was a good interview.

  18. Blue Eyed Angel 3/19/10, 09:23:AM

    Love you Whitney!

  19. Maevelove 3/19/10, 09:26:AM

I like how she said that music should reflect Love in times like this. We have a recession, there’s earthquakes, political strife. It’s true that mainstream artists should not be flaunting dark Halloween costumes during a time when a lot of people are hurting – it just reinforces the madness.

  20. TheMan 3/19/10, 09:31:AM

she didnt say GaGa, come on Bossip. But that is experience and wisdom talking, some of these new singers should pay attention

  21. djkimya 3/19/10, 09:40:AM

Whitney has a 17 year old daughter…she once was a 17 year old ‘pop’ star herself and now she is a seasoned 30yr star in show bizzness..I think what she is saying is relevant but I dont know if everyone is willing to listen..somehow the media will flip this and turn against the truth..because the bizzness would rather make money versus healing lost souls…she has a testimony..in life and at work..Whitney has seen and experienced life and is willing to share this with us..I am gratefull and I love her!!!

  22. Lovely One 3/19/10, 09:49:AM

I lurve Witty Hutton (broman spelling)!

  23. Candid Canuck 3/19/10, 09:59:AM

    Spoken like a true Vet…

    My advice to whitney:

give up singing for a while.. write a book about your experiences…. Open a singing studio and relax.

  24. BigD 3/19/10, 10:04:AM

I love Whitney and she’s so right! People incorporate theatrics to cover up the fact that they can’t sing. I wish there were more singers in the world and less entertainers.

  25. MsConsciousOne 3/19/10, 10:08:AM

Thanks for calling them out, Whiney. Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Vulgar Rap Artists, etc. I truly wish the old school artists would flood the scene with real music, so that we would no longer see or hear from these “dark” artitsts.

  26. Daisy 3/19/10, 10:16:AM

Why is her face so puffy? Hope she’s o.k. Love you Whitney!

  27. Kierah 3/19/10, 10:21:AM

We have become a society that values shock value over substance. I can’t even focus on what most people are singing/rapping because I am so distracted by the visual. Why do musicians keep letting music take a backseat?

  28. 1calichick 3/19/10, 10:25:AM

    Love you Whitney!

  29. GREENHERBSgetHIGH 3/19/10, 10:32:AM

she said some real shit.music dont change people change the music.

  30. NXS 3/19/10, 10:33:AM

Not paying this woman any mind…

  31. juliemango 3/19/10, 10:38:AM

A veteran in the business speakin the truth, love it!!!

  32. Lima 3/19/10, 10:50:AM

Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga – they all wear that foolishness. Whitney presented herself soooooo beautifully in this interview. I have been waiting to see her this way again for YEARS! Praise God, she’s back! Unfortunately, her voice is not and she needs to come to terms with that. She has nothing left to prove – she has a string of hits a mile long. I wish her health and happiness and success at whatever path she takes.

  33. pistol whipped 3/19/10, 10:53:AM

Lady Ga Ga has her thing ppl are mad because they didn’t have the balls to do the damn thing… Whitney is done and like a roller skater that falling you got to grab someone on the way down.

  34. Please 3/19/10, 11:17:AM

I feel Whitney on this. Man…Imagine what Whitney could have became if it were not for Bobby Brown.

Love her or hate her…Whitney is spot on in this interview. I couldnt have said it better.

  35. PPL Plz Listen!!! 3/19/10, 11:23:AM

EVERYBODY NO WHAT SHE TALKIN BOUT..THE DEVIL INFLIUENCED INDUSTRY. DONT BE STUPID PPL. WAKE UP

  36. Singer 3/19/10, 11:28:AM

A true professional who knows what she is talking about….take heed!

  37. rum&indigo 3/19/10, 12:17:PM

Great interview. I think when you’re young, you want to stand apart and be different from everything else thats out. When you’re young you’re more likely to listen to other people, especially if you have family that is heavily involved in your career. I am so glad to hear Whitney had a foundation that consisted of getting a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA before going off and signing a record deal. Many artists today spend so much time on grandstanding, theatrics, weird costumes, alter-egos, their fans become so accustomed to it, artists have to keep it up. You can truly tell who is confident in their talent and their ability to reflect truth thru their music by how little attention is paid to the above mentioned tricks…

    Return of the Ankh 3/30…

  38. U Go Girl 3/19/10, 01:29:PM

I love you Whitney! I’m so very proud of your perseverance, steadfastness & accomplishments over the years…you are truly an inspiration. Many people will say “how is she a inspiration when she abused drugs for so many years”, but as humans, we all fall down. It’s when you get up, dust yourself off & move forward that make you an inspiration & real life testimony for others. Whitney spoke the truth in that interview & I admire her for keeping it real. She’s staying true to who she is & she’s definitely one of the very few left in the industry to do so. God bless you Whitney!!

  40. Luscious 3/19/10, 03:00:PM

She seems more with it or lucid, if you will, then I’ve seen her in years.
Someone asked why her mouth or jaw looks the way it does; to me, it looks like she’s working with false teeth…
In any case, its great to see her responding with what seems like a clear head.
Whitney’s voice may have been permanently damaged from the effects of her substance abuse but one thing will always hold true – you’d be hard pressed to find someone, anyone, who could blow like this chick.
I hope the elimination of her past trials and tribulations have left her with peace and harmony in her life.

  41. CSpain 3/19/10, 03:03:PM

Whitney got a very good point. When you have a good voice you don’t need all that other stuff, not everyone wants to see a stripper on the stage or some dark crazy stuff. Real talented singer do not have to do all that, but then again, the music business does not want talent, they just want paper. Sex sells, craziness sells, being real and talented does not necessarily sell now a days.

Then again I was just looking at a video with Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles “Lady Marmalade” and they had some crazy costumes on and a lot of artist from back in the 70′s wore some crazy sh_t. So in one token she has a very good point, but in another, what these artists are doing today is nothing really new. If you look at Rick James, George Clinton and the “Parliment”, Tina Turner etc… They originated a lot of the stuff that these artists are doing today. So the more I look at it, maybe Whitney is just hating cause she can’t do it like that no more, then again maybe she’s right. But if you’re making your paper, make your paper, I can’t really hate on you.

Whitney’s got a nerve clowning people about morals. Pulllllllllese she is a hot mess. And she is HURTIN” looks wise. She is a joke

  43. faith 3/19/10, 03:23:PM

This is the Whintey that I became a fan off. I never stopped praying and I’m so glad that she’s back. She touched me when she thanked her fans and people who prayed for her.

I think she will be fine. I heard some of her clips in Korea and her last dates in Australia and while her voice isn’t the same, she was hitting some amazing notes so i think in time, she will regain much of her voice back. Already, she is sounding better than 2 yrs ago.

I really enjoyed this interview, she seemed so at peace, articulate and coherent.

I LOVE YOU WHITNEY>> WHITNEY I YOU>> DONT YOU LOVE HER>>> Ladies and gentlemen .. MS Whitney Houston!!! I will always love you Nippy!!

  45. Shana 3/19/10, 03:26:PM

Come on Bossip! Stop your shitz! She didn’t say GAGA or call anyone out particularly.

i tell ya, Whit has a testimony and a hell of a story to tell. When she decides to write a book and make a biopic of her life, they will both be bestsellers.

    Fascinating!

‘…I didn’t wake up one morning and decided I wanted to sing, I was BORN into showbusiness..”

    You tell em mama Whit!
    Love her!!

  46. a rose by any other name #9304026339482056536 ™ 3/19/10, 03:27:PM

Shes right and if you can sing you dont need all that crap!! I said it before and i say it again… kick that knowledge Whitney!! I posted before and they took it off! WTF?

  47. CSpain 3/19/10, 03:27:PM

@Mic, that is so true, Whitney really don’t have no room to talk. Being a crack head that is one of the darkest places you can be. No offense Whitney I still love ya, but look in the mirror before you speak.

She still brought up some good points, but I’m not sure I can call her a role model anymore.

  48. Mz. 3/19/10, 03:59:PM

I find it remarkable and inspiring that after all these years and triumphs she still presents herself with so much poise. It goes to show that with positve people around you and the utmost faith in God you can persevere. Listening to her talk about why she makes music brought a smile to my face. I agree, it’s true that if you have real talent and you hold that “it” factor you dont have to go over board with raunchiness or weirdness to gain recognition. That’s part of the reason i always scratch my head when i see Beyonce prancing around stage with no bottoms on…..just saying. Now Lady Gaga’s another story, without those wacky costumes, she’d probably be non-existent.

  49. Mz. 3/19/10, 04:10:PM

And yes she did hit some speed bumps in her life. Alot of people are quick to say that she doesnt have any room to talk. I feel that she has every right to speak up, while still remaining humble, that is. Does any have any idea how strong of an addiction crack cocaine is?? Does anyone know the alarming rate of repeated users who have tried to quit, but couldnt shake it??! I have relatives that are still to this day addicted. And to see this woman who hit an all time low, pull herself out of that dark time….well it is inspiring. You dont have to look at her as a role model. But you should atleast give her some credit for refusing to lie down in mud any longer.

  50. Carol 3/19/10, 04:22:PM

@Mz, thanks for saying what I wanted to say. Whitney is not asking to be a role model she is speaking her mind as a 30yr veteran in the game. She knows this business, you don’t last that long unless you have true talent or that x-factor.

Why bring up her past addiction? Lady Gaga was a cokehead and snorted bags of coke, is anyone bringing that up? mary J Blige was an alcoholic and a druggie who let K-Ci walk all over her. She picked herself up, is anyone reminding her of the error of her ways today, no!

Natalie cole was a heroine and freebase addict who LOST her child to her momma! Does anyone bring that up today when she is speaking, NO! andnone of these talented ladies have had the sucess that Whitney have had.

She has every right to state her opinion and if people take time to listen, u will here that she is not throwing shade. She is saying that these folks are talented and that a little extra is ok, but they don’t need all that wierd stuff in her opinion and she doesn’t find it becoming.

I happen to agree with her.
