JET Magazine scooped up Academy Award winner Mo’Nique to be their cover girl this week. The new issue celebrates her Oscar win and gets the inside story from the funny woman turned dramatic diva herself. Also inside, JET tapped an oldie but goodie, you’ll have to Pop the Hood to see who it is.
JET spoke to the R&B singer about hard times and how he’s helping others who are struggling now:
Jaheim remembers the time when he and his mother had to go without. That’s why he believes in giving back to the inner-city community. “I remember the hard times of living through all of that struggle,” he tells JET. “Being on welfare, sleeping in cars, living in shelters, living in the projects or living in other people’s homes. Life was not always a silver spoon for me,” he recalls. As his new CD, Another Round, rises to the top of the charts, the soulful singer is relaunching his foundation, Julia’s Dream, named in memory of his late mother, Julia.
