Garfield Heights police say they were taken on a high speed chase Monday that ended with the motorist putting himself in prison…literally.

The pursuit began over a minor traffic violation and evolved into a 90 MPH chase through several Cleveland suburbs. The driver then allegedly decided to abandon his vehicle and jump a nearby fence; however, the fence belonged to the state women’s prison in Cleveland.

“He ended up in the prison yard,” said Capt. Robert Sackett. “He was apprehended. He had nowhere to go. It was a little easier to get in than get out, apparently.”
