There will be a transgender contestant on the upcoming season of ANTM:
One of the 14 girls who will compete on the new season of America’s Next Top Model – which returns to The CW on September 3 – is transgender. “My cards were dealt differently,” Isis, a 22-year-old former receptionist, tells Us Weekly. Hailing from Prince George’s County, Maryland, Isis identifies herself as “a woman born physically male.” Will she be a role model? “I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams.”

P.S. Models represent ideals; how clothes were intended to look when envisioned by a designer; how they would fall on a body without imperfection. Why would I, as a woman, look at a tranny as an ideal female body? Why would I look at how a dress fits a tranny and feel inspired to buy it? If your looking at a fashion show as simply a show for entertainment, then whatever. But if you’re looking at a runway as marketing tradition to target a certain rich female audience, then…

If you really need your entertainment segregated, you may need to stick to reality shows about trucks, racing, wrestling, and other stereotypically manly/hillbilly-like fare.

Not being able to watch a show because a TRANSGENDER is a contestant or cast member, what sense does that make. It became acceptable when equal opportunity laws came about. Acceptance = Equality. Expecting our families to accept us is natural. My family accepts me for who I am, a Gay Black Man with a career & who is independent. Sometimes I wonder when do we as people say No is no, there need to be boundaries and standards. It is not ok for our children to grow up like this. I appreciate part of what you said. But understand this: unless you have walked in a person’s shoes, you cannot understand their choices and the thinking behind those choices. Folks on this thread are acting like she did this to be “different” or “radical” or that she was gay and wanted to go “all the way.” Those judgments are based in ignorance. Transgendered people don’t just wake up one day and say, “Gee, I think I’ll change my sex today! That oughta be fun! Whee!” They go through years of counseling and evaluation before they make their decisions. For them, it is the equivalent of a man knowing he is a man and a woman knowing she is a woman. It is INNATE. And it is the same for transgendered folks except they are in the wrong body. They cannot “help it” anymore than hermaphrodites can. This thread wouldn’t be so long if people would just do some research.

Thank you for the scripture. I am not judging this person, I’m judging the action. I’m calling it what it is and it is a sin. God loves us even when we sin but he hate sin. If we have God’s love in us than we should also hate sin. My heart does go out to this indivitual because of his identity struggles and I feel bad for anyone who have the same stuggle, but again, it is a sin. I did not make up this rule God did therefore in the end, yes it will be God who will make the judgement. But don’t we want to be right in God’s eyes? Don’t we want to encourge others to be right in God’s eyes? We are not perfect but, we try to do the right thing and you can’t change if you think that what you are doing is right when it is wrong.

Did you know that in the Old Testament AND the New Testament, there were slaves? And the Bible writings do not admonish it. Research shows that Christians had slaves! And Jesus never speaks against it. So, is slavery a sin? Hmm…
My point? No matter how much you want to believe that the Bible is “God’s law” and is applicable to today, simple research will prove that most of it was dealt with the culture of the times. Therefore, you interpret the Scriptures based on your traditions and prejudices. You take some passages literally and others as archaic. You are hypocrites of the worst kind. You hear what you WANT to hear and see what you WANT to see. Then you use it to judge and bully others who don’t agree or who don’t “fit in.” Your truth is just that: YOUR truth. If homosexuality was really that dire, I would think that Jesus himself would have mentioned it while on Earth. Funny how in the words attributed to him (red letters), he gives directives to STRAIGHT men about adultery, but never says a thing about gay sex. Those words came later from admittedly fallible men who were raised in the traditions of their fallible forefathers before them. And they didn’t write direct missives to the entire world, mind you, but addressed EACH OTHER in LETTERS, which dealt with the happenings of the day. And then years later other fallible STRAIGHT men take these letters and declare them “holy”, form religions and then use their religions to justify war, rape and torture, molestation, hypocrisy, adultery, etc. Talk about making excuses for sin!
You know, it’s always you people that come with all the Biblical judging that rarely ever practice what you preach. Well Richie you can continue to make excuses for sin. I am not perfect, I do sin however, I recognize my sins and try to do better. I ask for forgiveness for sins known and sins unknown. In order to be forgiven of sin you must repent. You can not repent if you don’t know that you are sinning. Like I said before, if you have the spirit of God in you, you would know what is evil in God’s sight. Jesus was speaking to all people when he spoke about sin. If Jesus spoke to straight people only than that means he only cared about the straight people wanting them to be saved. Now we know that, that is not true. He died so that all might be saved.
It is nice to know that there is no discrimination. I was really not going to comment, but I read the entire thread up to this point where I have posted.
1) How do we really know what “GOD” words trully is. The Bible was written by MAN, and has been through numerous changes and revisions. The only thing I believe was “his” words are those commandments and even those are skeptical because bottom line we are all imperfections & human beings for the most part.
2) No one should accept, or even try to understand someone’s frame of mind etc. However I do believe you should respect everyone and in return you will also be respected.
3) Isis Tsunami is a human being going through what Isis feels is right for Isis and that is to become a woman. Isis is doing it for Isis and is not hurting a sole. I respect what Isis is doing because it is for Isis.
4)Men & Women are equal.
5)If a person is straight/gay/transgendered/transexual/lesbian etc, that is on them. If you feel they are throwing their views on you then, you have a right to say something in respect to yourself and them. However you do not have to be cruel. The main thing the Lord and Saviour was trying to get across to everyone is to love one another, respect that love, and keep love between each other alive.
6) God did make Adam & Eve. He also made Adam and Steve, Tiffany & Alexa etc. He made all of us in the image and no matter if we are transgender/straight/gay/lesbian etc. If we are made in “thus” image then whatever we choose to do with our life is perfect because according to many belief’s “he” is perfect and we are thus mirrored in that perfect image.
7) No one should condem someones opinion. Try to understand each person’s point of view. We will all not agree or accept it, but we all can however respect it.
8)I am Naheem and just like the rest of you I am making my way through life and when it is time for my soul to be judge as I do believe in the higher power it will be judge accordingly. No one should judge anyone because we all have faults, we are human. That is why Jesus died for our sins and his death will continue to have a significance because we as human’s are sinners. I was born of sin and therefore will die of sin.
9)I don’t know what Tyra’s real meaning behind having Isis on the show is, however the world is in a new age & ideals. Isis earned the right to be on the show, last time I checked the show is called Top Model, not top girl model or boy model. The competition is for girls but it never stipulated that human beings cannot compete if so deemed, Isis is human. I am looking foward to seeing how far Isis is going to go and if Isis becomes the winner then good for Isis if someone else wins good for that individual as well. I love all the contestant because each and everyone of them are pursuing their dream and not just sitting home like the rest of us watching, may or may not be doing the same. Chasing after our dreams.
