Master P, now known as P. Miller wants to show blacks in a better light:
Percy Miller (formerly Master P) announces the launch of Better Black Television (BBTV) a family friendly network that will provide positive content for a black and brown culture that will appeal to all races with a goal to bring people of color a choice when turning on their television. The content on the channel will contain a wide arrangement from health and fitness, animation, financial planning, reality TV, sitcoms, dramas, movies, responsible hip-hop music and videos, politics, sports and entertainment news, educational children’s shows as well as teen and family programming.
Better Black Television is the brainchild and passion of some of the most diverse, powerful, celebrated entertainers, influentials and trendsetters from the Television, Film, Professional Sports, Corporate America and Music industries. These visionaries all share the common goal of enhancing the current television landscape for this highly coveted demographic currently monopolized by only a few significant providers, with fresh, innovative, uplifting and above all family-friendly entertainment.

I think it is a great idea considering the quality of shows on BET is questionable. However, I think it is important to choose wisely with television shows in general not just with BET.

I love P. Miller aka Master P. I remember riding around in my two-tone Ford Escort in high-school playing his CD’S. Oh how we thought we were popular. LOL
Percy Miller is the personification of the Audacity of Hope. This brother is a gunner for real. He just goes for it… I love that!!!! More brothers need that attitude.
Atleast he is working with an idea that most haven’t tried just yet. May it fair well but we all know who is pulling strings (which is the reason why some OF US will not support his vision due to the years of being brainwashed as to what is “acceptable behavior” and thusly perpetuated by the media) regardless of his efforts to show us in a better light. The best in his endeavour!
It sounds like a panacea to me. The videos and all that are just a symptom. People all over the world can view these shows and go on to lead productive lives. Blacks have to go to the root of the problem.

Never really been a big Master P fan back in the day, but you have to give the man props. The smartest thing he did was getting Snoop Dogg from under Suge Knight/Death Row, which was a die hard rescue in hip-hop history effort. Secondly, the man has invested well for himself, his son (making his son go to school USC) and keeping himself ahead of other rappers in the game who at the end of the day have nothing to show for themselves, their communities and even their children!!!! I am glad someone is stepping up to show black peopel in a better light, All we have is Black Starz, EBT oooppps BET and TVOne is not enough!!!!!

Very ambitious of Master T. Even though he may have lived a life that wasnt exemplary when he was younger he realized his mistakes and is doing more than enough to correct them today. It took long enough for someone to see how BET does nothing to elevate black men and women’s self esteem. BBTV is very innovative and will show our community in a positive light as it deserves to be shown. Props to Master T!

Well I’m soo happy to hear this. I’ve been disappointed with BET for years now, so the only black tv station I watch is TVOne. I’m glad I’ll have more of an option when turning on black entertainment tv (not BET) I hope Master P can produce better reality shows than the ones that come on BET…

As it is now the only channel my daughter watches is Disney and they actually have some very interesting shows.
Hope it works out because BET since it was brought out by Viacom no longer has the true interest of our community. Everyone doubted Tyler Perry’s to produce movies and we all know how great that turned out. Let’s be positive that Master P is not just sitting around talking about how Oprah or someone else won’t play their videos and is acutally trying to change that.

I would like to see this. All black people are not easily fooled. It’s not like everyone keeps supporting any and everything. This is a good chance for original writers to give new faces a chance to show a different side of life. I feel VH1 Soul is a really nice channel. If they can capture that type of music programming with an old Yo! Mtv Raps or Soul Train type show then it could be cool. It would be nice if they had a news show with investigative journalism too.

I Have Always Admired P Miller’s Hustle. Before There Was A Diddy Or Jay Z, There Was Master P. He Showed These Brothers How To Diversify And Branch Off Into Other Ventures Besides Music. I Am Pulling For Him And Will Support Him Any Way I Can. I Hope It Doesn’t Go Out Like The Black Family Channel Did. They Couldn’t Get Enough Advertising. They Had Black Investors, But Not Enough. With All These Hip Hop Artists Making Money, They Need To Get Behind P Miller And Invest Some Of Their Money In His Network Instead Of Buying Grills And A Lot Of Other BS That They Spend Their Money On That At The End Of The Day Will Have No Value. I think this is a great idea. I love TV One, and it wouldn’t hurt for us to have more than one channel. I’m hoping it will be a basic TV channel, and not a cable channel. We need a network.

Glad to see that Percy Miller (formerly Master P) has been open to change. Praying that it works out, we need something constructive for the black American youth and black people in general. Globally we’re looking like fools with the bling and booty shakers in the videos.
There are black scientists, architects, physicians, archeologists, engineers, mathematicians, professors, accountants, astronomers, etc. Let’s see some stories about how these people grew-up and grew into there professions.
I really hope he can do it because we really do need more positive television.It’s unbelievable,the other night I was switching channels and a show called “Californication”was on and they actually showed a nun offering blow jobs in the church!
I’m tired of flicking through the stations I use to watch when I was younger and just seeing sorry reality shows, “Look at my house and how much money I make ” shows , “I kissed six girls once” shows, flaunt, flaunt. What has happend? Show some “real” reality, how did these professional individuals overcome there difficulties, musicians, politicians, and athletes too. You have to admit we as a people need a choice, more of a choice than the few television stations we have access to, more than TV One, VH-1 Soul, VH-1 JAMS, and the first and worst which had so much promise and potential, BET. That is sad people.
And the thing is this I am down with all nationalities, but even the Hispanic/Spanish and Asian speaking peoples have more stations than we do in certain areas. What sense does this make when everyone wants to sing like black people, dress, speak, dance and act like us!!??
It’s funny to see P being the one to do this, but you have to respect the man’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Love the idea, hope it works out. There’s a lot of behind the scenes business that needs to take place (advertising dollars, investors) before filming anything even takes place. Let’s hope all these folks can do it, and do it right.

Hispanics don’t have issues with it and they have tons of networks and those networks have higher ratings that BET and even the CW network that hates us.
