Right. And the average Black kid has a disadvantage. Black boys and Black girls should not have to overcome that obstacle anymore. Get it. We are FU€KED UP!!!! Gangs, drug dealers, Pimps, prostitutes that is what is glamourised by us in the media because that is how the average inner city, predominately black neighborhoods operate. Asian neighborhoods, Jewish neighborhoods, Eastern Asian neighborhoods….all nice places to live. I guarantee that the average household in those good neighborhoods with children, have 2 parent household. Screaming at a big wall. I understand that you just don’t care. Have a good life.

For the record I have “looked into the eyes” of plenty of children “abandoned” by parents. Including my own and those of my brother and sister. Your assertion that parents leaving a child affects their self esteem is an oxymoron (that is not an insult).

Self esteem is exactly that….SELF ESTEEM. It comes from within, not from an outside source. Self esteem grows with accomplishment and overcoming obstacles.

When my sister had a baby and the father up and left, she made damn sure she finished her degree and got herself a good job. It was hard in the beginning but in turn she has raised a confident, self sufficient woman who is now 19 years old. My sister never doubted that it would be hard, but she didn’t go begging.

If a man doesn’t realise the need to be a man and help raise his children, then that’s on him. His punishment will come 10 fold. I truly believe that.

Personally, I also fell pregnant before I got to know my babydaddy. But he was committed from the get go and we were married before our son was born. Praise God because I know I’m lucky. Had he disappeared like others, I have a good job and would have been just fine on my own. I would never have gone to him to ask him to take care of his responsibilities. The decision was mine whether or not I wanted to have my son, and not knowing what the future held, I chose to give life.

It is our choice as women. There are so many other things we can do to prevent ourselves being in this situation. It is different if he coersed you into having a baby and then bolted.

The truth is, guys like Joc and company who won’t even deal with the responsibility of their actions is sickening. If that number of 65% is accurate, then black people are in worse shape than I ever imagined. You know I have always believed in two to tango, but if a woman has a child and raises the child, there is no excuse for the man to up and disappear.

Everyone has urges, but I personally choose abstinence because I cannot afford to ruin my career with an unwanted pregnancy. It is too bad more people do not at least consider that option or contraception “due to the condom not allowing you to feel stuff.”

The worst thing about this is you can’t even say this is an education thing. Plenty of college educated black men do the same nonsense. I am blessed that the black men I have been around my entire life are good men. All I can say for women is, if you truly believe these men are trifling and the statistics back them up, it’s time to take extra precaution.

Heck, I’d rather get a vasectomy than have a child I was going to abandon. Shaking my head indeed.

Actually Hispanic men are well known for taking care of their children. The parents grow old together with the same old wedding photos sitting in the living room. Now that doesn’t mean that Ernesto wasn’t around the block everything, cuz he was. But Ernesto will tell you quick, ‘I ain’t leaving Guadalupe. Never.’

Look at all that jewelry…. and he can’t up 2grand for his son… freaking looser. Stand up! and be a father. This is the problem with our loosers black and hispanic father don’t want to man up! ….
